Dyson Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Because it'd deteriorate in to the thread we currently have. Why not have a signature/avatar discussion thread where you can ask for it to be rated and get tips etc etc. It'd work better than an "above poster" one.
Mundi Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Wouldn't it end up the same? People asking someone to rate their sig/ava plus people asking for help. Plus asking for advice on your sigs an avatars belongs more in the creative board rather than the board is already is in.
darksnowman Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Definitions of 'new' would then be questioned. Its actually funny you should say that. The definition of the word new is already being debated in this very thread!
jayseven Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 A general sig/avatar 'help' thread would be way better than anything involving such a detrimental use of rating things. There is a help thread stickied in the creative board, but it is a typical sticky that nobody uses. Hell, the "rate the above..." threads would be better a) merged and b) without the "above" bit, instead focusing on individuals asking "can you rate my signature? tell me what's good/bad?". "Rate my signature/avatar". Bob is your pervy relative.
AeroScap Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 What do you mean by implementation? Where would it be implemented? This is vbulletin, not phpbb, btw.Don't think it's necessary really, the rules are pretty clear on what's spam. But if you want, you can make a thread like that. sorta like below the avatar? v bulletin...hmmm something like this? http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=155945
Shorty Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 sorta like below the avatar? v bulletin...hmmm something like this? http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=155945 From what I can tell that doesn't appear in users' posts or anything, just in their profile and on a public page mixed with everyones (if the user wishes for it to be public)
Dan_Dare Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Can we consider dropping the auto merge double post thing? all it's doing for me atm is stopping me posting new stuff in threads like my Diplomacy games that need updating, reguardless of who posted last.
Ashley Posted May 11, 2008 Author Posted May 11, 2008 Can users delete their own posts? (sorry, my head is knee dead... (mixed metaphor) in assignments right now) Stay with me here Dan Dare...
MoogleViper Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Yeah they can. That's what I do. Copy the last post, delete it and then post it again with the new stuff added.
Ashley Posted May 11, 2008 Author Posted May 11, 2008 Yeah they can. That's what I do. Copy the last post, delete it and then post it again with the new stuff added. Yeah thats where I was heading.
MoogleViper Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Yeah thats where I was heading. I knew you were. Thought I'd beat you to it.
ReZourceman Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 We can delete posts? Wow there it is....in Edit Post. Cool.
Shorty Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 But we can still read them (4000th board news and issues post )
MoogleViper Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 But we can still read them (4000th board news and issues post ) Unless we edit it and then delete it.
The fish Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Unless we edit it and then delete it. No, mods and admins can see all posts in a thread, including an edit history (I think), and definitly deleted posts...
MoogleViper Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 No, mods and admins can see all posts in a thread, including an edit history (I think), and definitly deleted posts... I'm sure one mod made a post saying that they loved reading deleted posts and that we should edit them before we delete them.
Emasher Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Could that have been back on C-E though, with Xsorbit You can't see edit history.
Shorty Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 There's no edit history. If you care that much about hiding what you said, yes you'll have to edit it first. But I assure you, nobody cares about your deleted posts. I mean most of the ones that aren't deleted are not worth reading.

He soon got banned.
Ashley Posted May 12, 2008 Author Posted May 12, 2008 Can read deleted, but not edited. If he changed that message to say "I like rainbows" then deleted it we would have seen the rainbow message.
ReZourceman Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Would it be possible for the name of this thread to be changed to "Comic Books General Discussion" http://www.n-europe.com/forum/showthread.php?p=751708 Thanks!
Ashley Posted May 18, 2008 Author Posted May 18, 2008 Meh its been done but theres something so bland about that, everything is "General" (hey at least everyone's desire to have "official" in a thread title seems to have died). "Your Comics" was a nice change of pace.
