Nolan Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Service was yesterday. Slowly moving on etc etc Just wanted to say thank you to everyone. I know it’s an awkward as shit subject to be around and shoes on the other foot I hardly ever know the thing to say, or how to follow up for a different subject. It was a nice service. Started with an Elle King song, ended with a Rocky Horror Picture Show song (she knew every damn word in the movie) no one in the family could say anything but friends and bosses and coworkers had very nice things to say. She wasn’t perfect but she’s missed. In other misery, couple days after my mom I lost a cat (old and grumpy I wasn’t truly attached to her but didn’t want this) and my roomies cat is now exhibiting major stroke symptoms. Rains and pours. alrighty someone else have some misery…..or well don’t. 3
Happenstance Posted April 3 Posted April 3 The NHS appointment system really is a mess. I've got multiple appointments coming up to treat my eye, some I've had letters for, some nothing. Only reason I knew about them was because I've got the NHS app. Emailed the booking team to confirm the ones with no letters are real and they are, but now one of the others that did have a letter has been rescheduled yet the app still says the original date. Ridiculous! 1

Ridiculous! This doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I've had similar things happen to myself over the past six months. I had one of my appointments cancelled via a letter but the app said differently. I then had the app say one of my appointments had changed venue but no letter to confirm. Our admin at my place of work used work for the NHS and she said the system is an absolute mess. She said the admin side is basically a house of cards and is in desperate need of a massive overhaul and update. 1
Ashley Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I've been waiting to get an appointment for nearly 6 months now and a while back I noticed the referral was not mentioned on the app so when I next spoke to my GP I asked and he said it was in a very "yeah obviously" kind of way. And then about a month later I got a text saying "we're busier than usual, it will take longer to get an appointment".

Ridiculous! Back from the laser treatment for my eye. Going to have to go back for a few more sessions for the bad left eye and probably just the one for the right. May still need surgery on the left eye though as there's a dispersed hemmorage there that they may have to do something about if it doesn't clear. This laser treatment will most likely make me lose my peripheral vision apparently.
drahkon Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) Well, well, well. German politics even more in shambles. After the Grand coalition has been approved, the centre right party's chancellor candidate has not been elected today. Which is a first in German history. A new ballot seems to have been set for tomorrow. This is a terrible situation. The right wing party is celebrating given that they are opposed to the new government and the chancellor candidate. If the ballot tomorrow fails again, the right wing will get even more support since one of its biggest points is "this proposed coalition sucks". Either way, this is a disaster...doesn't look like the new government will last the next four years and a new election will then give the right wing party another increase in voters...maybe even a majority which would end democracy in Germany. Why am I living in this timeline? Edit: "Hilariously", the AfD (right wing party) has been deemed extremist by our constitutional court and voices from the Grand coalition parties have become louder that a process to ban this party should be initiated soon. Yeah, good luck when you're this divided right at the start... I hate this. Edited 13 hours ago by drahkon 1

Both Australia and Canada were trending to the right until a month ago. Enough people don't want a repeat of America.

While that is true, in recent months the AfD has constantly gained support in polls. And this has been confirmed in the most recent elections in February... If things continue like this, I fear the worst.
Ashley Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Plus Musk has proven himself willing to finance the far right in Germany. Because that never leads to problems...
