The Bard Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 This should just be a collection of ReZ's posts in the "Best Movie Posters" thread.
mcj metroid Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Just for the "someone is missing tagline" made me laugh very hard the first time I saw it for some reason.
MoogleViper Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Is this shit movie posters or posters for shit movies?
mcj metroid Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Is this shit movie posters or posters for shit movies? usually goes hand in hand to be fair.
MoogleViper Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Bit of a side note but why do movie posters have to have shit tag lines. Now I think that this is a great poster but why does it have to say "what if you could live forever?" Personally I think that it just ruins the imagery and doesn't add anything to the film.
Paj! Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Actually gives the entirely wrong impression about the film too. I like some taglines. In the posters I posted in the other thread, the "...look closer" on AmericanBeauty because of it's unique placement/style, and also the Funny Games one.
jayseven Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Sorry to confuse all previous posts - but these threads aren't suitable for playground so I've merged them, moved them, renamed them. No need for polarising threads when together they can create more parallel debates. Or something. Feel free to go back and edit a post for clarity, if you wish! I've frequently stumbled upon these 'simplified' movie posters, and I love 'em. http://www.slashfilm.com/cool-stuff-olly-mosss-poster-remakes/ http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/simplified-stephen-king-classic-film-posters http://jnhgrnt.me/post/410208149 None of these were the precise page I stumbled on as there are some really awesome ones that aren't on those pages.
Paj! Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I LOVE when people (artists) redo movie posters. Can't find enough of that kinda stuff on the net actually. I love when things are "variation within a theme". Like with book covers that visually all apply to each other, or when the X-Men all where the same basic uniform with their own joke additions.
EEVILMURRAY Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Quality poster, I have that on me wall. Want the other 2 also but aren't having much luck finding them (when I tried) A contender for the worst poster, for a bad movie.
The Bard Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I've frequently stumbled upon these 'simplified' movie posters, and I love 'em. Those are amazing. I was looking at the Indiana Jones poster for about half a minute before I realised what the content actually was.
Paj! Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 The third link Jay posted is rubbish. Just taking the piss with those designs. The other two are great.
jayseven Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Yeah it is a bit shit isn't it? This one is a nice take; retro style versions of current movies. http://www.slashfilm.com/cool-stuff-tavis-coburns-bafta-best-film-retro-poster-series/ THIS link has WAY cooler posters like those in my first post! Paj, you'll love it I'm sure. http://screenrant.com/sr-pick-retro-movie-posters-brandon-schaefer-robf-46371/ No idea why I'm not using the url tag... I've just searched 'simplified movie posters' and 'retro style movie posters' ... Still not found the actual page I stumbled on ages ago. Cool stuff, though. As for worst movie posters...
The Bard Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Oh shit, I just realised that those simplified movie posters are by Olly Moss, who does a lot of very stylised designs for this gaming podcast I listen to called A Life Well Wasted. Raaad.

Paj, you'll love it I'm sure. http://screenrant.com/sr-pick-retro-movie-posters-brandon-schaefer-robf-46371/ I don't like the Batman one, but otherwise, yeeeeeeeees. Empire Strikes Back is too good.
Ashley Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Sorry to confuse all previous posts - but these threads aren't suitable for playground so I've merged them, moved them, renamed them. They're not discussions either. They're shit. They're only good for the waste lands. I think I've gotta to that grumpy point of sleeplessness that results in having to wake up at 6am to go to the bank for 9am two days in a row (and again on Thursday).
Oxigen_Waste Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 (edited) Okay, let the master teach you boys and girls a litte something: I'm tired of this... And last but not least, my personal favourite: Truth be told, there's so many great posters, that it's actually hard to go wrong... so how ReZ managed to totally drop the ball on that one I have no idea. ReZourceman Posted November 17, 2010 Author Posted November 17, 2010 Oh, I thought your avatar was Home Alone.
nightwolf Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I know it's not a movie poster, but I like this regardless.
Mundi Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 (edited) I seriously though that you avatar was from the poster or something for: "Manos: The Hands Of Fate" Edited November 17, 2010 by Mundi
Oxigen_Waste Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I seriously though that you avatar was from the poster or something for: "Manos; The Hands Of Fate" Brilliant film, that is. I would've loved to have been present at the filming...
