Jonnas Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Man, Dory sounds so weird in English. That scene was much better in Portuguese, I think. Which is another thing I love. Pixar movies tend to get consistently great dubs around here. I guess being awesome rubs off on others.
Frank Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Due to the fact that Ellen DeGeneres voices Dorey means instant WIN!! Stay away from Dorey!!
Ashley Posted July 26, 2010 Author Posted July 26, 2010 Toy Story 3 has smashed UK box office records with a £21 million opening. The latest movie from Pixar breaks the record for the biggest debut haul of 2010 and is the second largest UK opening of all-time behind Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban. It is also the biggest ever July opening to date Some kid was playing with an RC today (strangely branded 'Toy Story 3' version...) and again I wanted to steal. One of these days I am going to steal a child's toy.
Mokong Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I was looking at some Toy Story 3 toys today and was wondering... are there any Woody toys made of actual wood? All the ones I saw were plastic...defeats the whole name?
Ashley Posted July 26, 2010 Author Posted July 26, 2010 He always has an erection! They've always been made out of plastic. Even in the film. Woody was originally intended to be a Howdy Doody-like ventriloquist's dummy and was named after Western actor Woody Strode. It was revealed in August 2009 by Lee Unkrich that Woody's official last name was "Pride".[5] Unkrich stated in his Twitter blog that “Woody’s actual full name is ‘Woody Pride’ and has been since the earliest days of developing the original Toy Story.” (Woody Pride sounds like a porno)
Coolness Bears Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I watched this on Saturday with my nephew. Amazing film now probably my favourite film of the year! The opening was intense. DEATH BY MONKEYS! Spanish Buzz is the most hilarious thing I've seen this year and the animation alone is jaw dropping by itself and the detail and the shots they used were amazing. I've unfortunately seen the ending about 4/5 times now since I work in the cinema ruining the magic of it slightly.
Frank Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Ahhh!! I love this movie so much =D Despite their being only a few "LOL" moments, it definitely deserved the well earned reserves it's getting. My favorite thing of the entire movie is Ms. Potatoe Head. Just an amazing character, who oozes out amazingness! I got a little teary eyed though when the bear double-crossed them and it shows them all holding hands ready to basically burn to death and the fact that they have already accepted their fate :') That "Day and Night" cartoon was so nice too ^_^
Ashley Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 I wish I had known Randy Newman was in London a while back prior to reading my friend's tweet that day.
Guy Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 (Woody Pride sounds like a porno) Woody, Buzz. It's all just covert filth. They knew they'd be appealing to adults from the start.

If you're planning on buying one, make sure you buy a Woody from the 'Toy Story Collection' range, as these are the one's aimed for the adult collector :- Anyone else collect Toy Story memorabilia? Also, this film, inspired me to purchase my first Studio Ghibli film - My Neighbour Totoro Edited July 29, 2010 by welsh_gamer
Paj! Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 THIS WAS SO GOOD I knew it would be good, but it was so moving, funny and just alround entertaining. Loved it. I was like...closer to tears..than not...if that makes sense. Really sad at points. And hilarious throughout. I liked how the "team" was cut down, getting rid of the chaff like Weezy and Bo Peep, who added nothing. STUNNING.
Ashley Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 I love the Bo Beep mention though. Poor Woody, lost the love of his life And Wheezy added this: I love Bullseye. For a speechless character he has such a great deal of heart and wonderful reactions to everything. I want one. Random point: I think Blake Clark did a great job as Slinky. Forgot he wasn't the original.
Oxigen_Waste Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Grisham? That HAS to be yours. You took this photograph, didn't you? Confess!!!
Guy Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 I want those Toy Story Collection figures, Jesus. Who wouldn't want them?
Jav_NE Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Just watched it in 3D tonight. Loved it. Absolutely brilliant. Couldn't have asked for me really. Great story and new characters, some quality comedy at times and purely heart-warming throughout. Pixar can do wrong. Spanish Buzz. By far. I was in tears during the credit cuts when they turned on the stereo as well. Legendary.
Ronnie Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Semi O/T: as far as Pixar movies go, I think Ratatouille is actually my favourite. I'm probably in the minority though but that film is awesome to watch. Plus any movie that makes CGI food look that delicious gets a thumbs up in my book
Fierce_LiNk Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I want those Toy Story Collection figures, Jesus. Who wouldn't want them? There was a Buzz Lightyear toy in The Disney Store that had: Buzz shouting Spanish phrases . I want, very much. I watched this the other day, in 2D. Not too bothered about seeing it in 3D but I may do if I end up seeing it again. I thought it was very good. Loved the introduction. I love how you actually feel for every single toy, you seem to get very attached very quickly. Great film-making. The part where they were about to get cremated had me tearing up, where Buzz holds out for Woody's hand. Then, the actual ending where Andy seems reluctant to hand over Woody, I found that very powerful. Overally, I probably enjoyed it more than the second, and maybe just as much as the first. We'll need to see how it holds up on repeated viewings! It is brilliant, though. It makes you laugh, then cry, then laugh again. The full spectrum.
Ramar Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Anyone else collect Toy Story memorabilia? Don't tell me thats the one I've seen in the shops where Woody has "Over 50 phrases", about 45 too many for my liking...
Ashley Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 There was a Buzz Lightyear toy in The Disney Store that had: Buzz shouting Spanish phrases . I want, very much. I helped a child get into one of those at work the other day (as it had lots of fiddly packaging that needed scissors). It kept shouting at me in Spanish during the operation. Then I wanted to steal it. (I don't think the fact there's a Spanish Buzz needs to be spoiler tagged, the film has been out for two weeks and it was in the trailer!) Although I am curious what language they dubbed him into in the Spanish dub.
Jonnas Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Although I am curious what language they dubbed him into in the Spanish dub. Stereotypically Castillian, of course. I mean, how else are they going to explain his mannerisms?
Jav_NE Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I was thinking that! It was a touch of genius anyway. So funny. I cant believe they have a special toy for it as well. I have to check that out next time i'm near a Disney store!
Ashley Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Stereotypically Castillian, of course. I mean, how else are they going to explain his mannerisms? No I meant in the English version his alternative mode is Spanish but in the Spanish dub of the film he'd be Spanish anyway, so what other language do they have? Like in Scrubs when Elliot speaks French or German its changed to other languages in France and Germany.
