Sparko Posted July 31, 2010 Share Posted July 31, 2010 I checked on Google, found a couple of pages that suggest that he still speaks Spanish, just with a different dialect/accent, i.e. in Spain he speaks with a South American style flair and vice versa in Spanish speaking South American countries. Like in Scrubs when Elliot speaks French or German its changed to other languages in France and Germany. When Elliot speaks other languages, the joke is that she's speaking something else, it doesn't matter what. With Buzz, he's obviously Spanish, with his mannerisms, dancing, music, etc. And, in these cases, the Spanish audiences easily accept that, in the original version, Spanish is a foreign language. In order to illustrate this, they just have the necessary characters speak with a heavy accent (like Sparko said), while the others just mention they don't understand what he's saying, like in Allo Allo (for added lulz, I've seen subtitles appear in a couple of cases.) Of course, they only do this when they don't have much choice (that is, when the character(s) are undeniably stereotypical). A) In Spain, Spanish Buzz begins speaking Andalusian Spanish, a dialect from southern Spain, home of bull fighting and flamenco dancing. This switch is very funny to Spanish audiences. I think most of the younger kids were watching Shrek as well, so that avoided any cryers in the vicinity. It always helps to go to a cinema that isn't so easy to get to without a car if possible.
