While true, there have been a good number of trademark filings over the past few years which have turned out to be something. I'd much rather side with optimism than not, especially in the current age where more or less everything is being brought back in some form or another. Konami is a bonafide AAA publisher again and we're getting Suikoden remasters (well, the first two at least), for crying out loud! Lunar remasters are on the way, Okami 2 with Kamiya is in the works, Banjo came to Smash and both Banjo (twice!) and Bond came to NSO...and I got my classic Final Fantasy collection, even if the initial release was a huge monkey paw curling and the font was weird at the time. I'll almost always side with being optimistic first. unless it's Mother 3 coming to the West because, well, yikes To be honest, I do think there's an even more pessimistic take than it potentially being nothing this time around when it comes to Skies of Arcadia, though, and that is that the game is indeed coming back – as part of SEGA's planned subscription service. S.C.G Posted January 27 Posted January 27 (edited) The trademarks couldn't be to do with the new Sonic Racing: Crossworlds game which is being released this year, possibly? Though there would need to be more Sega trademarks updated at around the same time perhaps. I was just thinking back to the excellent Sega All Stars Racing Transformed (+ Banjo-Kazooie & Co) which had a lot of Sega themed tracks, including Skies of Arcadia, Panzer Dragoon and more besides with various tie-ins across multiple platforms. The zip on the case for my Switch has broken so I need to buy another one but every time I click through to finalise the order I get an error. Its never happened to me before, just wondering is there an issue with the site at the moment?

Which case for the Nintendo Switch were you trying to order? If you get really stuck for one, I probably have one or two Switch console cases down at the shop, I can have a look for you if you like? The case would be second-hand, but in good conditon, no idea if that's any good to you, but I could likely beat the Nintendo Store price by about £5 including postage. If they are charging £20 per case, I could sort one out for you for £15 or less including postage I reckon. No worries either way, and in the meantime, if you can order one through the Nintendo Store, then all the better. 1

But somehow, seeing them animate something new in a 80s/90s style really brought a nostalgic smile to my face. This is such a cool trailer. 1

Thanks for the offer S.C.G but I realised I could just use the case I had for my original Switch (which is still going strong nearly 8 years later - the case for my OLED barely lasted 18 months) I wonder if it was just a glitch with the item I was buying, one of the Animal Crossing leaf design cases, it could well be out of stock but their system just doesn't show it. I was able to pre-order Xenoblade a couple of weeks ago without any issues. 1

The only video game device to ever go for a longer period of time before being replaced is the original DMG Game Boy (which went for a whopping 9.5 years before getting its GBC upgrade, and a full 12 years before finally getting a true successor in the form of the GBA). The Game Boy ebbed and flowed through its life before getting a huge late boost when Pokemon came out but the Switch has really only started losing pace in these last few months - they have certainly done a much better job at its end of life than they did with the Wii U, Wii, Gamecube and N64. Also we're now less than a calendar month out from the Switch 2 Direct but I'm sure the original Switch will still have a presence in the market for the next 18 months or so 1 1

Don't forget that the original GB was originally supposed to be replaced back in 1996 with Project Atlantis (which was scrapped because ARM couldn't meet Nintendo's performance, battery life and cost targets back then). The DMG was never supposed to last as long as it did, and the GB Pocket/Light were hastily cobbled together in response to the surprise Pokemon boom in Japan. It wasn't until late 1999/early 2000 when the GBA hardware finally became viable (mobile hardware didn't really start its great boom until the GBA came along; with the ARM7TDMI CPU being made specifically for Nintendo's next handheld in response to the previous failure of Project Atlantis, a chip that ended up being ARM's true big break in the world of embedded CPU design and sparking the mobile revolution that continues to this day), as mobile hardware chip development remained largely stagnant throughout the 90s. Game Man Advance The Switch however? Nah, it has just constantly cruised along (though I suppose you could argue that COVID gave the Switch its own equivilent to the GB Pokemon boom), which makes it even more impressive. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually learn at some point in the future that the Switch OLED was originally meant to be a Switch Pro that was scrapped mid-development though. I suppose my only issue with the console was at the start of its life, when a lot of its first party games were Wii U ports. This was because I owned most of those games already on Wii U but obviously I was part of a minority of people that would have affected. I always felt console generations were not long enough so I absolutely love that Switch has lasted this long and will almost certainly get a good year or so of support after the Switch 2 is released. I'll certainly continue to buy games for it over the next year. Edited just now by Helmsly
