Choze Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Major US retailers have readied the ads, much like previous price cuts. Its only a short amount of time before the announcement. Most likely at TGS. http://www.gamepro.com/article/news/212088/rumor-wii-to-drop-to-200-by-october/ Question is can they match PS3's recent boosts and can they claw back 3rd party sales?

LostOverThere Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Yeah, don't get your hopes up. That being said Kyoto CMEX as well as a Nintendo Media Summit are quickly approaching.
Emasher Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 It would all add up. A good number of leaked flyers have shown Wii's for $199 at this point, and its a logical time to drop the price. Not only are we approaching the 4th quarter, but both MS and Sony have recently dropped the prices of their consoles. Not only that, but the Wii isn't doing that well right now. Yes, its still a rumor, but there's a really good chance its coming at this point. If not this year, a some point in the first half of next year. Yeah, don't get your hopes up. That being said Kyoto CMEX as well as a Nintendo Media Summit are quickly approaching. When was this announced?
Shino Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Yeah, in all honesty, I think they'll do it.
Hero-of-Time Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 From GoNintendo. Our friends at Nintendojo say that they've gotten a confirmation of a Wii price drop to $199. Details on where the info came from is below. Wii will be reduced to $199, effective Sunday, September 27th, and will likely include retailers nationwide. The confirmation was made during a retailer conference call today where a Nintendojo staffer was in attendance.I have no reason not to trust the gang at Nintendojo, so I think we're looking at a done deal here. On top of all that, how many more retailer flyers do we need to see before everyone is convinced!?
Cube Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Question is can they match PS3's recent boosts and can they claw back 3rd party sales? Huh? Isn't it still a massive £250?
LostOverThere Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Question is can they match PS3's recent boosts and can they claw back 3rd party sales? Isn't the Wii, like, still outselling the PS3, even with its price drop?
Ike Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 So is the UK getting a price drop since we've just had a price increase?
R1kk1 Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 So is the UK getting a price drop since we've just had a price increase? Probably not. Let's be honest, Nintendo like to keep PAL regions hanging onto hope.
Choze Posted September 19, 2009 Author Posted September 19, 2009 Its not a rumour anymore its 100% confirmed by everyone apart from Nintendo.
Ashley Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Nintendo are the only one who can confirm its true. So what, if all of us were to say ReZ used to be a woman but he denied it then it wouldn't matter what he said because we all said differently? I'm not saying its not likely, but its not confirmed.
Fresh Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 ReZ used to be a woman ReZ used to be a woman ReZ used to be a woman I hope this grabs the attention of all those that just skim over peoples posts.
Emasher Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Here. Oh, I thought he meant there was a Nintendo event besides that, NVM.
mcj metroid Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 er ya apricecut will happen fact..and theyre not going toadmit it now in fairness
Fierce_LiNk Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 A price cut was bound to happen somewhere along the line. I mean, when you consider how long the system has been out and the price it is currently at. Isn't it at the same price as when it launched? I don't think its hugeeeeeeeee newwwwws or anything. Actually, I'm a bit shocked it's still at the same price. That's pretty good going.
Pyxis Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) Unless it drops to around £129.99 (the price of the GameCube 7 years ago), I'm not interested in getting another one. It really should be around the £99 mark for what it is. Edited September 20, 2009 by Pyxis
