pedrocasilva Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 PS3/PC do a better job at that.No need to be butthurt. Butthurt? Well, I'm not the one who appears to be butthurt because the game seems to be a Wii exclusive. I just pointed out the obvious.
Nintendohnut Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Nintendo fanboy. No, you're not. A fanboy is someone who loves a company/system because of everything it does. A fanboy does not say 'this should be on PS3 because it will look shit on Wii.' Its just that this console is not adapted for such good concepts as these that are involved with this type of art.PS3/PC do a better job at that. You have seen approximately three to five screenshots of a game and you already know it's going to look bad? It's a concept - it might not even look like this in the end! And even so, I would have thought that even you realise that the developers will know how the Wii hardware works and will work to it's strengths rather than try to force it to do something it can't and then do it badly because of that. No need to be butthurt. I don't even know what this means. If I'm honest I haven't played a Mickey Mouse game since that awesome one that was on the Sega Megadrive all those years ago, but if this recreates that in any way in its levels of fun, then I will be exceedingly tempted to get this. Looking forward to hearing more about this, but I will reserve judgement for now and await some actual screenshots and information. Quite exciting though
Ashley Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 If they went for a painted background style it could still look quite good, like A Boy and His Blob: But more apocalyptic.
Nolan Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Its just that this console is not adapted for such good concepts as these that are involved with this type of art. Read that 5 times over and see if you can spot what wrong with it. The console doesn't determine what concepts are suited to it. Case in point would be looking at early Final Fantasy games, while the characters were limited by the power of the console, it's known that the games have art of characters and events far away and beyond what a console could do. The art shows what they envision, and even if it's limited by the Wii.....so what. I think it'd be limited by games in general, which isn't to say games can't do justice (PoP Valkyria Chronicles) I just think more justice is still and always possible. Besides, all we've seen is art. As someone else has said, maybe this won't be 3D, maybe it'll be 2D and as Muramasa shows, the Wii can do justice with 2D as easily as anything else (sans HD, but meh) As for 3D doing art styles and concepts justice No More Heroes and Mad World are fantastic examples. In short, wait for gameplay screens to determine if the Wii is right or wrong for the games style.
Dante Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Woah... I'm a big Disney fan and this looks... Very un-disney. It's like Walt Disney World in an apocolyptic Fallout 3 type universe. How are they trying to appeal to? You should know Disney sometimes go dark with cartoons. Example Mickey in "Run Away Brain"
pedrocasilva Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 (edited) A part of "good concept" for any hardware is one that pushes it's boundaries, I dunno if this is it, but let's hope so. For instance, Shadow of the Colossus was done for a underpowered platform such as the PS2, and if it was in development now we could have someone crying about "why isn't this on top of the line hardware?" but do know what? Thank god it was done for the PS2, because it'll go down as a showcase of what it could really do.. And the Wii can do so much better. The whole "this is not worth doing on this hardware" is not ambitious, and that's not what is being done on any other home console hardware at this point... doing it for the Wii is just lazy and is not excusable. Since Wii when competing with other platforms needs to be pushed, in short, just something that increases a gap rather than decreasing it, because when you look at games like Monster Hunter 3... it's fucking possible and should be freaking standard. Plus, I can't stand the mentality of accepting and advocating turd for it instead. Plus, the HD consoles are already obsolete hardware, and if we were always going for the best hardware available by the time we'd be releasing the game there would already be more and better stuff out there. Does it really matter? has it mattered when console's had a bigger gap from computers than today? hell no, what matters is precisely the concept and how it uses the darn hardware. The game was concieved as a Wii game so more power to them. The more PS3/X360-fans are "butthurt" because the game is not on their platform of choice the better job I think the team actually did. Thank you. Edited August 6, 2009 by pedrocasilva
Jonnas Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 You should know Disney sometimes go dark with cartoons.Example Mickey in "Run Away Brain" That short left me crying as a kid. Thank you for opening up the memories that should've stayed locked up On a similar note, Hunchback of Notre Dame always creeped me out. I was wary to watch it as a kid, and even now I think it's disturbing.
LOLTR Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Butthurt? Well, I'm not the one who appears to be butthurt because the game seems to be a Wii exclusive. I just pointed out the obvious. I'm not butthurt, I also have a Nintendo Wii, otherwise I wouldn't be in this forum. But the fact is that I would much rather spent 60 bucks for this if it was on PS3, which is better suited to do a game with this concept in mind. No, you're not. A fanboy is someone who loves a company/system because of everything it does. A fanboy does not say 'this should be on PS3 because it will look shit on Wii.' I grew up with Nintendo since I was 10 years old (I'm 23 now), I love Nintendo, I've been playing Nintendo games since like forever, even though I thought that the Gamecube didn't seem as promising as the PS2 and Dreamcast, I bought it first anyways, even though I thought the Wii had bad graphics when compared to the beauty that was PS3 and XBOX360, I waited for it and bought it first, instead of buying a XBOX360 too. I have more games for my Wii than for the PS3 and the XBOX360, only my PC and my N64 has more games than my Nintendo Wii.. I love Nintendo, and in fact, I'm not even like the idiots around the net saying "HURRRRRRRRR, Nintendo only cares about the casuals", because its clear to me that due to their releases, they are going for both sides. I think that makes me a fanboy, even if I think logically about this game. I didn't see 5 screenshots of the game, I've seen 5 concept art pictures, all of them aproach a brown, metal look, something that seems dark and twisted when compared to the classic look of Disney Cartoons (Apart from some exceptions), this concept is way too good for the Nintendo Wii, or rather, not to hurt your feelings, way too different. If they went for a painted background style it could still look quite good, like A Boy and His Blob:[image] But more apocalyptic. It would indeed look good, or rather, extremely good. But if the PS3 had that painted background style along with a 2,5D style and its limits put to an extreme, it would be three times better, which is my point that seems to be getting a lot of butthurt comments from the other Nintendo Fanboys. The console doesn't determine what concepts are suited to it. Case in point would be looking at early Final Fantasy games, while the characters were limited by the power of the console, it's known that the games have art of characters and events far away and beyond what a console could do. Of course, but if that same game was done in the PC of today with modern graphics and the same gameplay, it would be better, no matter how much you try to twist it. Same thing with Wii and PS3/XBOX360. The art shows what they envision, and even if it's limited by the Wii.....so what. I think it'd be limited by games in general, which isn't to say games can't do justice (PoP Valkyria Chronicles) I just think more justice is still and always possible. But of course, I agree that the game would look good anyways. And about your "so what?", so what? Well, I can act like that to: So what about me wanting the game better looking, thus being not an exclusive for the Nintendo Wii? Besides, all we've seen is art. As someone else has said, maybe this won't be 3D, maybe it'll be 2D and as Muramasa shows, the Wii can do justice with 2D as easily as anything else (sans HD, but meh) As for 3D doing art styles and concepts justice No More Heroes and Mad World are fantastic examples. Its not just HD, 2D is not a different style from 3D, almost every single PS3 capability that the Wii doesn't have is able to be put in 2D games too. And I laughed at your "Meh" at HD. Yeah, no big deal, right? In short, wait for gameplay screens to determine if the Wii is right or wrong for the games style. Gameplaywise its like the PS3 and the XBOX360, unless its a shooter or something that requires pointing and motions. Visualwise, this game would be a lot better in PS3 or the XBOX360. A part of "good concept" for any hardware is one that pushes it's boundaries, I dunno if this is it, but let's hope so. Agreed For instance, Shadow of the Colossus was done for a underpowered platform such as the PS2, and if it was in development now we could have someone crying about "why isn't this on top of the line hardware?" but do know what? Thank god it was done for the PS2, because it'll go down as a showcase of what it could really do.. ... I don't care if the PS2 can do great things, the only thing I care about is the games I buy. If the game was done in the Gamecube/XBOX instead of the PS2 and made with better graphics, that ALSO pushed the console's limit, then it would be looking better than the PS2 game, thus it would be better overall, because there wouldn't be gameplay changes. Why the hell should I care if it proved that it made the PS2 able to push his limits? The fact is that the Gamecube could get there easily, and if pushing the limits, it would be a lot better. And the Wii can do so much better. It can, but don't be an extreme fanboy and say that it can surpass what the PS3 can do, please. Its much harder to make a game pretty like Monster Hunter 3 in the Wii than in the XBOX360, for example, which is why we don't see as many developers doing it or doing it on another consoles. Once again, I'm saying that this is wasted potential. Plus, the HD consoles are already obsolete hardware, and if we were always going for the best hardware available by the time we'd be releasing the game there would already be more and better stuff out there. Does it really matter? has it mattered when console's had a bigger gap from computers than today? hell no, what matters is precisely the concept and how it uses the darn hardware. ... What? Look, let's not twist what I'm saying, ok? What I said was that the PS3 or the XBox360 would make this game much prettier than it is, specially because it uses the Falloutesque style, which looks much better in the PS3 and the XBOX360 (No discussion there, I assume?). And of course, if you do it that way it might be better consoles out there already, I agree, but that, but the fact is that when this was made, the PS3 and the XBOX360 were also in consideration, for sure. The game was concieved as a Wii game so more power to them. The more PS3/X360-fans are "butthurt" because the game is not on their platform of choice the better job I think the team actually did. Thank you. No, the game wasn't conceived as a Wii game, I don't believe the creator of Deus Ex is stupid, its probably a way not to waste much cash.
Emasher Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Long Post There's just so much wrong with your post I can't even begin to argue against some of your points.
markderoos Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Maybe they just want to approach the bigger userbase the Wii has as opposed to the PS3/360? In potential it could adress to both new gamers (it's disney darling, let's buy it for our son!) and experienced gamers (wow, darker disney, sweet style!) Just a guess and way too premature to already make this kind of remarks because it's still just concept art...
dazzybee Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Also, if the game uses a painting mechanic, than maybe the wiimote is the best input device for it!
Ashley Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) There's just so much wrong with your post I can't even begin to argue against some of your points. Yeah I skimmed through it too but basically it seems to be "it would be better on the PS3 because the PS3 is better". Well, you may think that but it was conceived as a Wii game so quit your moaning and accept it. Doctor Who might be better if it was a post-watershed programme, but its not. No use crying over something that ain't going to change. But if we go for the "it could be better on this" then the game will never be released. "Oh this will be best on the PS3." "WAIT! The PS4 will be out soon, it'll be better on that, lets wait for that." Frankly I don't care if the graphics aren't all that, it doesn't do anything to the game other than give PS3 and 360 fanboys ammunition to fuel their falsy justified superiority complexes (and if its not online that will be the final stroke on their PS360 ejac) the game looks different and hella intruiging. Particularly to a Disney fanboy such as I. Edited August 7, 2009 by Ashley
Zechs Merquise Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 LOLTR - what are you on? this concept is way too good for the Nintendo Wii I rest my case!!!
Ashley Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Yeah to be fair he is never going to change his argument and is only going to murr this thread with petty arguments. Banned from the thread. Back to Epic Mickey.
Dante Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Epic Mickey news in next months Game Informer
Dragons_Slayer Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 This game really looks interesting, loved the artwork!
dazzybee Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 This is sort of the game I'm most excited about....I've got a feeling it's going to move platforms though....
david.dakota Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Dripping ink is in line with gameinformer....
pedrocasilva Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 This is sort of the game I'm most excited about....I've got a feeling it's going to move platforms though.... When it's so late into development? Jeez, you guys are so negative. If it gets to be on other platforms, no problem, but it is a Wii game, done from the ground for the Wii... and truth to be told, just like Sonic it would probably sell better on the Wii across all platforms.
Shino Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Look at the textures on the goo, its a Wii game.
Nolan Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Look at the textures on the goo, its a Wii game. That's a stretch.
Sooj Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 As for the story, we've also been told that it'll be based around very old and/or forgotten Disney characters who are out to get their revenge on Mickey, presumably because they're jealous of all his fame and fortune. Would love to see a game like this based in the Nintendo universe; where mario would be the hated figure. Its about time Mario went a bit epic. But yeah, very interested in how this game will turn out. If its good then its a must buy for me.
