Nolan Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I actually already have you, but you are not too late. In fact...you're the only one to express interest. Sent.

Nolan Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Facepalm Just read this http://www.destructoid.com/mobile-steam-app-now-ready-for-the-rest-of-us-220797.phtml I guess the beta is over already.
Deathjam Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Classic origin games for cheap for limited time only. How Limited I don't know, and I personally haven't bought any myself, but my main draws would be Red Alert 3 and Uprising for ?5.00 each along with Mirror's Edge for ?5.00. EDIT: Oh and Burnout Paradise, Need for Speed Shift 2 unleashed and Battlefield 2 all for ?5.00 each too.
Shorty Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I've wanted Burnout Paradise on the cheap for a long time. But not enough to sell my soul to Origin.
Cube Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I've wanted Burnout Paradise on the cheap for a long time. But not enough to sell my soul to Origin. The PC version isn't the best version anyway. Best to stick to the console versions (I have it on 360, PC and PS3).
Magnus Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Alternate titles for Dear Esther: Holding down W: The Game Purple Prose: The Game The Kotaku review made me laugh, at least. He said there was nothing to the game except the story, and he didn't like the story at all. He still recommended that people play it, though, because it's so ~unique~. Who cares about that if it's not good? You don't have to recommend it just because it's different, you know. It's okay not to like it.
The Bard Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Yes, but that's Kotaku. They're the worst source you could possibly go to for gaming criticism outside of IGN. EDGE gave it an 8. I'm willing to give it a swing at some point.
Cube Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 That game released for free many years ago that is known for the story and the graphics are of no importance - now with nicer graphics.
Magnus Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 To be fair, the one thing Dear Esther has going for it in my opinion is that it's pretty. A lot of people seem to like it, though, so there must be something good about it. To me, it was just metaphors within metaphors and slowly walking around for an hour and a half. I guess I was hoping the story would be somewhat interesting or that it would have some sort of emotional resonance, but it was just too dull. Yes, but that's Kotaku. They're the worst source you could possibly go to for gaming criticism outside of IGN. Hmm, I don't know. IGN doesn't have Bashcraft. I can't believe I used to read IGN regularly at one point. Their television reviews were the shallowest things every written. "This thing happened, then this thing happened, and at the end of the episode this thing happened. It was okay. 6/10." But that's IGN for you, I guess - critical thinking is strictly forbidden.
The Bard Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 The problem with games posing as "Art" is that they're inevitably designed by either programmers or hipsters, and end up as a pathetically pretentious jumble of metaphors, or just plain trite.
nightwolf Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Quick question. Anybody bothering with Tera? I've pre-ordered, probably not going to be a game I invest in like I did with WoW, but it looks fun nonetheless. Y'know, when the patch finishes..
Deathjam Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Quick question. Anybody bothering with Tera? I've pre-ordered, probably not going to be a game I invest in like I did with WoW, but it looks fun nonetheless. Y'know, when the patch finishes.. Yeah im bothering with Tera. Aion was supposed to be my last Korean MMO ever but tried out tera (pre-ordered and got access to beta) and the combat is very fun. Makes pvp very interesting as people have to be facing you to actually hit you, and there is next to no "locking on" so people can't just sit a distance from you and nuke. And it's VERY pretty. Run's on the unreal engine so it's generally plays like a dream and shouldnt get too many glitches that mmo's are so accustom to. One thing I love, it's very different to every other mmo I have played.
nightwolf Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Well given my connection problems, I won't be on Tera this weekend, I'm gutted, but for some reason my internet is just being too slow to download Tera in time.. *see the Tech area*
The Bard Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Just wanted to say, my all out favourite game released last year - Portal 2 - is £7.49 on Steam. Total fuckin' steal, so hop to it, those who've yet to play. Also, I say that it's my favourite game of last year having not played the Co-Op yet. If anyone would like to get on that ish with me, I'd be much obliged. Lezz set up a ventrilo channel and talk shit/ play some awesome puzzles.
Cube Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 (edited) Beta Sign-Up I shouldn't need to explain what this is. Edited April 3, 2012 by Cube
Oxigen_Waste Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 The problem with games posing as "Art" is that they're inevitably designed by either programmers or hipsters, and end up as a pathetically pretentious jumble of metaphors, or just plain trite. Actually I thought Dear Esther painted a very clear picture of the general story. The fine details are up to the player, for the most part, but the general outline is quite obvious. I quite liked the "game". It's mor like an interactive tale than a game, but it's one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had recently. It's not Journey, but it's quite the feat, I'd even call it a slight game changer, as it were.
The Bard Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 I haven't played Dear Esther yet, I was just commenting as a generality about the snootyness of designers like Johnathan Blow. I'll give Esther a go at some point, sound like my kinda thing.
Sheikah Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 MMOs are for chumps. Well that depends... on how hardcore an MMORPG you're playing. Some MMOs that are smaller like Phantasy Star Online don't require too much time and are pretty awesome. Whereas some attract that kind of antisocial nerd and require vast amounts of time, dedication and money.
