Razz Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Lumpy Dough by Fight Like Apes is the best song of 2009 so far. I agree with you here. Such a fantastic song, reminds me of rain and being in a car falling to sleep. Weird how we associate songs to different situations.
Paj! Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I forgot to say that Lumpy Dough is from 2008, not 2009. It was the track you got when you signed up for their message thing. So technically 2008. I suppose commercially released would be 2009. ---- Appreciate the link to that Tori Amos vid, I'd never listened to it before, but I'd never bothered, as I don't know the original/hadn't had it recommended.
ReZourceman Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Oh, just noticed there's a Gary Glitter cover too. lol. I'd like to be covered by Gary Glitter.
Paj! Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I love Falling Down by Scarlett Johansson. Great song she's covered, wonderfully involving production/feel, and the fact it features David Bowie. Not even in a real role, just on background vocals.
ReZourceman Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Considering I should hate them, I have to support them here. Those two are some of their blandest (...) they've done! I Don't Need A Man, I Hate This Part, Flirt, Beep etc are much better. I have their new (or rather....their...this yeary/latest) album, and I actually LOVE I Hate This Part. Its amazing. When I walk, I walk in rhythm to it. And their current one is interesting in parts. Apart from that their new album is trash. (Oh and When I Grow Up is meh/okay) but yeah the rest is trash. I do like them though, and their old stuff.
Slaggis Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 If U Seek Amy First thing I thought was "Damn, she looks sexy as hell". I love the start, and then last minute and a half. Some of the dancing however is...hilarious. If this doesn't bring her back into the UK Top ten, I don't know what will. The chorus is unbelieveably catchy.

It's the only song I choose to listen to off her last album, it's definitely an awesomely trashy song. I love the last part of that video, as I love the 50's.
Molly Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Not to sound too much like a disapproving mother, but how is she staying in that top?! I think trash sums up the song fairly well
Slaggis Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Not to sound too much like a disapproving mother, but how is she staying in that top?! I think trash sums up the song fairly well It's a good song, purely because of it's killer chorus. Though, if anyone at college says "I don't get it", I will ridicule them. (Considering it spelt it out at the start of the video basically). But yeah, I love it.
chairdriver Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I agree with you here. Such a fantastic song, reminds me of rain and being in a car falling to sleep. Weird how we associate songs to different situations. I love the opening piano-y music. And the fact it's called Lumpy Dough, the most jokey title on the album, but its the most real song. I forgot to say that Lumpy Dough is from 2008, not 2009. It was the track you got when you signed up for their message thing. So technically 2008. I suppose commercially released would be 2009. Yeah, but most songs are written/leaked way before their release. It's fair enough to class it as 2009. I love Falling Down by Scarlett Johansson. Great song she's covered, wonderfully involving production/feel, and the fact it features David Bowie. Not even in a real role, just on background vocals. I love that whole album.
Slaggis Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I had no idea what was with the news reported at the start of the If U Seek Amy video. Now I know why she was there. This is hilarious! Stupid prude.
Coolness Bears Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 They bleeped it out. That's provided me with some hilarity.
Ashley Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Viva Viagra? I love how OTT that all was and maybe its because of watching SNL but it seems like a parody. Just how EXTREME she was. Although I have to give them credit it was a fairly constructed debate: Fox state opinion Have two abitarily chosen 'experts' arguing over each side Talk over the one who doesn't agree with Fox At the end declare "THE OPINION" to be Fox's original one.

Lol, indeed. Whatever happened to a presenter/mediator in a debate being impartial? She was ridiculous.
jayseven Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 NEW MEWITHOUTYOU ALBUM DATE! Literally, you've heard it here first. 19th May. Just... Yes! A Brand New tour and a mwY album? Life is gooood. Shame only like two other people here care :P
Paj! Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 On the If U Seek Amy debate; I do see the points raised by the anti-crowd, in that the catchy chorus would mean young children shouting "Eff You See Kay me!" all over the shop, which is very different to "I kissed a girl.." and such. But then artistic freedom etc. Radio or not, I think Britney will deal with it.

But then artistic freedom etc. Radio or not, I think Britney will deal with it. I don't see anything wrong with it, personally. Parents can stop young children from listening to it, and once they can't stop them, they're probably old enough to listen to it anyway. It's a song. Hardly like someone singing it is going to suddenly get humped is it? They've had to edit it for the US, so it now makes no sense. (They've taken out the "K"). Internationally, it's staying the same.
nightwolf Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJINX_lROTI&feature=related I was constantly listening to this a few years ago..god knows why I stopped. So pretty.

Shame only like two other people here care :P Fuckkkkkk yeah. Does that mean theres a chance mwY will support Brand New? It has to happen, so that me and you can finally defeat Ellmeister and his bastard claim to awesome. Or one of them anyway. He has several
Beast Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 (edited) I had no idea what was with the news reported at the start of the If U Seek Amy video. Now I know why she was there. This is hilarious! Stupid prude. I think they're just blowing it out of proportions. They didn't mind their kids singing "I kissed a girl and I like it" or "I'll take you to the candyshop, I'll let you lick my lollipop" or "F**k you, you ho, I don't want you back" so why should they mind "If you seek Amy". Totally confusing tbh. Anyways... This song is brilliant, I've listened to it every day and I think the video is very good as well. Edited March 13, 2009 by Dan_Dare

He has several Not looking likely; 06 March – Hartford, CT – supporting Brand New 07 March – Durham, NH – supporting Brand New 23 May 2009, 19:00 07:00 PM - Trocadero 03 Jul 2009, 19:00 07:00 PM - Cornerstone Festival 15 Aug 2009, 19:00 07:00 PM - Purple Door Festival They've just done two supports of Brand New (fucking DAMN!) and they've got their own tour dates either side of the Brand New tour, so it doesn't look hugely likely. Keeping my fingers tightly wound, just in case, but probably more likely to have some regular emo band as support and some UK dudes, too. Best hope is that mwY do a tour here themselves, perhaps late summer or winter, or even next year. My bet is that they go to some UK festival in 2010.

Slaggis Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 (edited) Paj, have you got Kelly Clarksons album yet? If so, what do you think? Don't Let Me Stop You has to be one of the best songs she's ever done. I love some of the lyrics, it has a killer chorus and it's utterly addictive. If it's not a single, I may have to destroy her record company. Actually, apart from the last few tracks, the album is pretty damn great. Ryan Tedder needs to fuck off. Paj! Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Paj, have you got Kelly Clarksons album yet? If so, what do you think? Don't Let Me Stop You has to be one of the best songs she's ever done. I love some of the lyrics, it has a killer chorus and it's utterly addictive. If it's not a single, I may have to destroy her record company. Oh yeah I have. I think it's very good, actually. I think she should have kept it in concise, as it's overlong with pointless songs like Ready. BUT it's an otherwise awesome pop/rock album, the best tracks being the first single, IDNHU, Long Shot and some others. A lot blends into one atm (not given it enough listens). I jizz at the end of MLWSWY when the chorus kicks in again, when you technically need time to breathe. I actually want a third chorus added in, just to wear you out completely. I think it's a more successful album (quality-wise) than My December, tbh. It's an excellent poppy rock album, whereas My December was an alright, kinda dull rock/personal one. The cover is hideous though, so I use the deluxe edition one on iTunes. I also wish more of the songs had more distinctive titles. Overall good though!
