Oxigen_Waste Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I just can't agree, Satriani and Malsteem (malsteem not always but he has a lot of kick ass songs, I love his barroque style) pull me in with their songs and keep me interested, the song writing is diverse and interesting while I find most of the hardcore bands you listen too, a mess of noises, which ultimately ruin what could be great music (for my ears), because lots of the musicians are very good.That's what I generally think about progressive and hardcore, I just don't like the way things have been evolving, it's just too angry. EDIT: I also don't see prog as shredding. At all. At least the prog I listen to, it's not like a listen to a lot of stuff. As always, I respect that. To each, his own. Just one little thing: very good musicians and hardcore are not compatible. I mean, c'mon, it's the simplest thing ever to play, you gotta be an average or above musician to actually not get tired of playing kindergarten level (technically) stuff. Like hardcore drumming... it's the easiest thing ever, lol, it's just like punk-rock drumming. There are several good hardcore composers, however (IMO, of course). =D

This could be a simple case of genre confusion though lol
arnold Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 If there are any fans, the new Nightwish album has been leaked and it is pretty damned impressive, New singer Anette has picked up the reigns pretty well and yeah..Roll on October so I can buy it bloody long wait ;-;
Tales Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Listening to Song No. 1 by Serebro at the moment. Dirty text + sexy girls + sexy voice = Some very dirty thoughts Their second single isn't bad, but I can't understand a squeak of what they are saying.
The Bard Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I'll take hardcore over proggressive metal anyday. Mikael Akerfeldt and co just died a little inside. Although I guess they are the exception rather than the rule. LOG/KSE >>>>> Dream Theater.

CoolFunkMan Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I've pretty much finished listening to the new Foo Fighters album, and I think it's bloody brilliant! Imo, they've taken all the best parts of thier old albums and blended it into one, and it works perfectly. I think this is easily contender for the best Foos album. Although I'm not sure what people who aren't big Foo Fighters fans will think...
harribo Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Babyshambles new album sounds pretty good so far.
Mundi Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Been rekindling my love for Mindless Self Inulgence, still love them :Þ "You´ll rebel to anything" is still to me one of my favourite album
Paj! Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Been listening to Necessary Evil by Debbie Harry, as I got it for my birthday this morning.. (Her new album) I quite like it. It's very technical, and the production is very slick. She's still a very sexual woman at her age (62) which feels both good and bad. Some great tracks amidst the usual meh ones.
Dan_Dare Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 I'm rekindling my love for simian's we are your friends album. it's bloody ace.
Guest bluey Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 in light of rokhed's recent antics over on the sexuality thread ~ (when asked what music we thought he should use as a backing track to the porno he was making today i replied "its a small world after all"~) i have a question ~ whats your favourite sexy song?? not "porno-backing-track-bow-chika-wow-wow" sexy, but "yyyum! let me buy YOU a drink" sexy~ i always liked that song "you know my name" from the beginning of the new casino royale (the problem was they played it on the flight over to japan... you try being trapped in a giant pressurized flying tube with daniel crage for 12 hours) orrrr that song by we are scientists... "nobody move nobody get hurt" .. i think it's the guitar ... *goes to play guitar hero*

Paj! Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Rachel hardly failed to make an impact! She did some pretty good pop songs actually. Weren't LAEx and Some Girls like no.2's or something? (I saw them live when I was like 8)
