Micosoft slams PS3s GTA IV install time. :indeed:

Just got this from Microsoft PR:

With the OXM review hitting streets today, and your own preview impressions which are looking great, hopefully you’ll all be a bit wiser as to the ins and outs of GTA IV now.

I’m sure you’ve all seen the chatter from the 1up GTA IV Preview on the PS3 install time….just a few thoughts on what you could do in this time if you were actually playing the 360 version from the moment you insert the disc….

· Steal your first dozen or so cars and test out the improved vehicle handling?

· Check out the cool features on your mobile phone?

· Rack up a 5 Star Wanted Rating?

· Have a blast of your first MP game on Xbox LIVE?

· Ditch the tracksuit chic and buy some new clothes?

· Unlock your first GTA IV Achievement and boost your Gamerscore?

….Or just start downloading a film from Xbox LIVE Video Store to watch later – check out the latest batch of arrivals this weekend!

PS3's GTA IV install time is five mins.

Hahah, thats hilarious. 5 minutes is soooo long.

It really isn't....or were you being sarcastic? :D

If it helps the game play better, i don't see the problem!

Maybe I need to make the "sooo" a bit longer. :heh:;)

Theres alot of things you could do in 5 mins to pass the time. :heh:

EDIT: Just realised how dirty that sounded.

GamesRadar presents GTA IV audio Q&A:

GamesRadar: Do you use a generic city sound, or is the background thrum made up of individual sounds from individual, identifiable sources? i.e. if I hear a police siren does that mean there is a police car in the next street, or is it just generic city noises?

Matthew Smith: What’s so great about GTA IV from an audio team’s perspective is that you hardly ever need to fake anything – the world’s so rich and so busy, that if you make individual things sound right, the whole ambience pretty much just appears by itself.

  • Sounds can appear muffled - a car horn coming from a tunnel 100m away sounds very different to a car horn right next to the player, instead of just being quieter as it might have been previously.
  • We have around four-and-a-half thousand individual sfx in the game, which are combined into around 19 thousand different combinations.
  • A single gunshot typically consists of around 10 individual components, whose volume and placement we control independently with distance, to create a bright, wide, punchy sound up-close, and a more reverberant, muffled sound at a distance.
  • There were over 740 unique voices in the game. There are over 80,000 individual lines of dialogue, more than 7000 of which are Niko’s lines.

sounds impressive (lol puns)

i do hope it's good. After san andreas completely dicked any notion of good sound effects, they have some considerable ground to cover.

I just won all of the past games on PC! Used to have them on xbox but traded them in. Does SA have high specs? I imagine the other 2 will work fine, but maybe not that...

Wish Tuesday would hurry up. Mario Kart is getting same old same old and I want a game like Crackdown again minus the 30 foot jumps.

I have work on a Tuesday :|

So do i, next Tuesday as well. Could be arranged to half 1/2 a day off. Or GAME could be nice and it arrives on Friday or Saturday which would be nicer.

I just had a fucking bad thought. I'm going to need ID to prove I'm 18 to pick up my preorder from GAME but I don't actually have any, although I am 18.

So I need to know one of two things,

1. Places still doing internet preorders with guaranteed release date arrival.

2. Will my old expired child passport count as valid ID?

Copy of Birth Certificate. Passport. Driver's Licence.

Have you not got anything with your birth date on it?

I doubt you can pre-order online now though. Way too late.

I would've thought they'd take that.

Don't you need photo ID? I don't suppose a birth certificate is good enough, though I do have a copy.

I don't have a drivers license, yet. I should get one..

And no passport either. Except my old expired child passport.

Don't you like...go to pubs or anything? Anyway, passports are a valid form of ID for up to two years after the "expiration date".

Don't think they would accept that tales. Yes you have to be 18 to have a credit card but they could be picky coz in theory that could be your dads credit card, or friends etc. I think photo ID is the only way they would accept it.

You never know, they may not even ask you for ID... GAME stores never once asked me for ID when i was slightly younger (i'm 20 now).
