BTW, this is a really random observation that just hit me... But Switch really doesn't have a lot of high profile cancellations in general that we know about (outside of Namco's Metroid Prime 4 and Ridge Racer 8, if the rumours are to be believed; as well as Ubisoft's Steep). That's very unusual for a Nintendo platform in general, even including the successful ones! Pretty much every previous Nintendo console and handheld has been a veritable graveyard of cancelled releases from 1st and 3rd party developers. On NES you had the likes of Simcity, Earthbound Beginnings, Final Fantasy 4 etc; even Wii had a cancelled Pilotwings game, Kid Icarus, Rogue Leaders, Project Hammer/Wii Crush, Wii Motorsports, Star Fox, Pikmin 3 etc... Though I suppose if Retro's Metroid Prime 4 does indeed get pushed back to Switch 2 as I suspect, that could get added to the list... Compared to Nintendo's history of cancelled games across all of their platforms? Switch's list does stand out as particularily small, especially considering the sheer size of its library! I mean, I get that we're not privy to everything that's happening behind the scenes right now, and that we may well find out about more cancellations after the Switch gets replaced, but we'd normally have found out about a LOT more cancellations by this point!

Supposedly it can take 40+ hours of non-stop grinding to unlock just one of the most expensive cars in the game from what I'm hearing on Resetera (and that place is Playstation central!)... There is no way that they would have such a soul crushing grind if they weren't trying to upsell players. You do not put MTX into a game without the intention of it being the primary way for players to progress, the suffering is the point. Oh, and worth pointing out that this is AFTER the comical £70 entry fee that they charge too!

Watch out, this game features some pretty aggressive monitization that Sony haven't been public about... https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/gran-turismo-7s-microtransactions-are-live-and-gt-sports-5-cars-now-cost-40/

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack: N64 & SEGA Mega Drive (& GBA!!)
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
@darksnowman How did you manage to bring up the Sarcastic Clap!?!? I thought you couldn't do it with N64 NSO games!! Edit: I just figured it out!!! Hold Zr and press the right stick, it brings up the cursor; then you can click the right stick to Sarcastic Clap!! (Sadly this doesn't work with N64 controllers, has to be Joycons or Pro Controller). -

The difficulty name does not lie...

If it's anything like Kirby's Dreamland 3 (And I would be surprised if it isn't), 100% completion of those missions will be mandatory to get the true ending, the true final boss and all the real post-game modes like The True Arena.

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2022/03/wonder-boy-collection-is-coming-to-switch-this-year Of course, since this is a Wonder Boy related product, it has to have a myriad of confusing multiple version releases

I'm skipping it too. Don't need it to know that I want it, so I'd rather just go in fresh.

Elden Ring (25th February 2022) | Shadow of the Erdtree (21st June 2024)
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Other Consoles
I can totally get why @Hero-of-Time is conflicted with this game. It has all the core mechanics of the From Software Souls games intact, but the switch to Open World means that it is inevitably going to have to give up the tight, interconnected level design and pacing that defined the previous games. The level design of the Souls games is just as important, if not even moreso, than the core combat gameplay to the overall experience. It's not a small change being made here. So even if it succeeds to capture the Souls experience in many ways, it's inevitably going to lose a lot of the appeal that the earlier games had. I personally cannot stand Open World games at all, so I'd be pretty livid if I was a big fan of the Souls games myself (for the record, I'm not much of a fan of the Souls games; but as a long-time Zelda, Mario and Pokemon fan? I understand the pain). -
It's because the physical game comes with the leg strap. They did the same digital vs physical discount for Brain Training Switch because the physical release came with a (crappy) capacitive stylus.

Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp (21st April 2023)
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I doubt it. It’ll be releasing around 1.5 months after the invasion started. The conflict might even be over by then. But yeah, Advance Wars is really unlucky when it comes to release timing! -
For what it's worth, here are the specs for the Jetson Orin NX, which Switch 2's SOC seems to be based on... Yum yum!
-
Oh yes!! We're getting the good stuff with Switch 2!
-
Defo. Nintendo would be absolutely stupid not to push it back and repeat history.

https://www.resetera.com/threads/nvidia-dlss-source-code-leaked.557821/post-82932559 Switch 2’s DLSS implementation code has just been stolen/leaked from NVidia! Perhaps Switch 2 isn’t as far off from release as we thought?

The GTS in BDSP is supposed to enable Wondertrade... But I think it's safe to say that ship has sailed now and that the game will never be finished. 10+ million seller and they're just abandoning it in an unfinished state. What a joke. -

BDSP and Arceus are never getting Home support at this point. Also BDSP is never getting GTS support; The GTS Project Has Started indeed. -
Told you all that Legends Arceus would be the future of the series. Traditional mainline Pokemon as we once knew it is now dead forever. Open World games are just so, so much easier to make and manage than traditional handcrafted worlds; especially with Pokemon's aggressive & incessent production schedule. Open World is also just so much more "impressive" and "big boy" in the eyes of the public; so it's Win-Win for TPC.

Oh yeah, we'll also probably get an announcement for Pokemon Snap on NSO coming out next month too. So we'll probably get... That should be doable in 14 minutes I reckon -
They're literally Nintendo's oldest development partner; dating all the way back to 1979. They've provided programming support for basically every single EAD game ever made and have operated in the same building as EAD/EPD for the last 40 odd years (they also sell CAD software to outside companies). This is a really interesting M&A because it is a purely protective one. Nintendo are only buying them now in order to prevent any chance of an outside company getting their hands on them. Proves that Nintendo are willing to go down the M&A route in response to what Microsoft, Tencent, Embracer, Sony etc are doing now in order to protect their most mission-critical partners. Also proves that I was right and that they bought NLG in order to prevent anyone else from getting their hands on them. The billion $ question now though is... How far are Nintendo willing to go with this? Intelligent Systems and HAL will almost certainly be next on their list (they're technically independent companies, like SRD were, despite basically being internal Nintendo studios in all but name); but will they extend to also complete M&A to protect companies like Camelot and Greezo? Mercurysteam? Vanpool? Indieszero? Tecmo-Koei? How far will they go?
