Why not make the bid and then sell the additional Gamecube if you win? (Unless you really want a second Cube). Would be a good way to get the GB Player + Disc for well below market value if you offset the cost by selling the Cube!
-
No soldering required. The GC-HD and the Carby are literally plug n’ play devices. You plug it into the Digital out port, plug in your HDMI cable and away you go! It even transmits digital audio without needing a separate cable! They’re not analog to digital converters, they pull a true digital video signal out of the Cube; all made possible thanks to that Digital-out port! And yes, they do enable true 480p output if your game supports it (No PAL games do unfortunately unless you use Homebrew to force it; otherwise only NTSC games support 480p). Both me and @Glen-i have one each. They’re awesome!

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack: N64 & SEGA Mega Drive (& GBA!!)
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Pilotwings 64 would actually be a pretty big ask. It's one of the few first party N64 games that have never been re-released in any form (probably something to do with the fact that it was developed by Paradigm Simulation; whoever bought them out probably still has some rights to the game somehow). Either way, we won't be seeing anything that wasn't shown off in the initial announcement video for a good while yet. The next few months will consist of Mario Golf, F-Zero X, Kirby 64 and Pokemon Snap (unless the Goldeneye rumours actually pan out and we see that hit both Xbox and Switch within the next few months!). -
Yeah, Dread Mode is just dumb; I don't even know why they bothered adding it (granted it was something they probably just knocked together in 5 mins). At least Rookie Mode was added. This game doesn't need to be made any harder!

Get this one... https://www.8bitdo.com/wireless-usb-adapter/ I have it, works perfectly.

https://www.theverge.com/22941636/microsoft-activision-blizzard-acquisition-sec-filing-came-together Some additional information regarding the ABK purchase from the new SEC filings... That's crazy just how fast MS pounced on that scandal! They smelt blood in the water like a shark!

Looks solid, and it's even a DOL-001 that comes with the Digital AV port, so you could get a GC-HDMI adapter for it if you wanted to. Nice.

Check that comes with the actual start-up disc. The Gameboy Player hardware is common as muck, but it's the start-up discs that are actually rare now (How the hell did so many people lose them!?). Also worth keeping in mind that Gameboy Player hardware is region free; but the start-up discs are not! It's just like with Wavebirds. The actual controllers aren't that rare or expensive, but for whatever reason, people just seemed to love losing the wireless receivers that came with them!

This is a massive four hour long interview with various heads of Popcap; they go over Popcap's history and their experiences as the company grew, changed, got bought out by EA and died. It's actually about 7-8 months old now, but I only just discovered it just now and just devoured the whole thing! I do recommend a listen in the background, as it's a really great and candid account from all involved, but I understand that it's a big ask for most people. So here's a quick summary of some of the most salient points brought up...

Sony goes third party... again!

3DS and Wii U eShop purchases to end March 2023
Dcubed replied to Helmsly's topic in Nintendo Gaming
You can now get Apple Pencil esc Active Stylus' (which have fine tips, not thick rubber or disc-based junk) that work with Switch! I have this one in particular and it is excellent! Strongly recommended that you get one if you don't have one already, it literally completely transforms the experience of using the Switch's touchscreen and makes it resemble the DS/3DS/Wii U experience much more closely Looks like this one seems to be a newer version of the one I have. If it's as good as the one I've got? I can't recommend it enough, it's easily the single biggest upgrade you can buy for your Switch! I couldn't imagine playing Mario Maker 2 without it! -
Ubisoft free from Vivendi takeover bid
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Oh... oh the irony... Didn't expect to have to end up bumping this thread! I wonder if Vivendi would have the brass balls to try again now... Or perhaps a merger with EA might now be on the cards? I can't imagine that a platform holder would be willing to take on their absolutely gigantic burn-rate... But could Sony now be desperate enough following the ABK acquisition? -
Looks like the Yanks have finally caught up with us here in the UK, as they just launched an official online My Nintendo Store today: https://www.nintendo.com/store/ Hopefully that means that we'll start seeing more physical goods and cool merch come out on both sides of the pond

I think that Radiant Dawn's mid-map single use permanant saves were a better solution personally. Granted, they were absolutely necessary in RD because of the sheer length of its maps, but I reckon that giving the player a limited use save in general is a better alternative than letting them just freely wind back the clock.

3DS and Wii U eShop purchases to end March 2023
Dcubed replied to Helmsly's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It did, as Ultimate NES Remix. It doesn't have everything from NES Remix 1 & 2 though... That being said, there WAS a retail version of NES Remix 1 & 2 for Wii U... but it was US exclusive. -
Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack: N64 & SEGA Mega Drive (& GBA!!)
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
You can't do that with Gamecube controllers unfortunately... at least not when using the official GCN controller adapter. The Switch OS simply just doesn't let you change button mapping for anything other than a Joycon or a Switch Pro Controller (No GCN controllers or NES/SNES/N64/MD controllers). It's only possible with unofficial adapters that trick the Switch into thinking that the GCN controller is a Switch Pro Controller (such as the G-Bros adapter). -
@Ronnie Don't see you guessing that the guys who made Ridge Racer 64 made Bowser's Fury; so you're no better

Ready to have your minds blown? https://famiboards.com/threads/nintendo-first-party-development-thread-st-nintendo-party-superstars.114/post-128783 https://famiboards.com/threads/nintendo-first-party-development-thread-st-nintendo-party-superstars.114/post-128952 NST were the main developer behind Bowser's Fury! NOT Nintendo EPD! (Japan) Holy FUCK! I would never have guessed. Bowser's Fury is absolutely NOTHING like NST's previous works at all! It has absolutely zero of their typical hallmarks!! THE GUYS WHO DID MARIO VS DK, METROID PRIME HUNTERS AND WAVE RACE BLUE STORM DID BOWSER'S FURY!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT IS EVEN REALITY ANYMORE!?!?!? Begs the question then... Just what the hell have EPD Tokyo been doing for the past 5 years!? They apparantly did the SM3DW port internally, but otherwise have been totally AWOL since putting out Super Mario Odyssey! We now live in a world where the guys behind Project H.A.M.M.E.R get to work on a mainline 3D Mario game, while Retro Studios have been basically completely MIA for almost 10 years. Edit: Just realised... this explains everything about the technical issues with Bowser's Fury on Switch (especially in handheld mode). Did always think that it was really out of character for Nintendo EPD to prioritise visuals over performance... Now I know why! It wasn't them!

3DS and Wii U eShop purchases to end March 2023
Dcubed replied to Helmsly's topic in Nintendo Gaming
In terms of pure DLC? Fire Emblem Fates: Revelations can only be bought via DLC unless you own the single rarest and most expensive 3DS game cartridge in existence. The NSMB 2 DLC is also the best part of the whole game. Theatrhythm Curtain Call also has a buttload of DLC with perhaps the best songs available. There's loads more, but those should be your priority I reckon. As for digital only games? Absolutely tons. Basically every Atlus game on 3DS was digital only here in Europe; while basically every single Nintendo published eShop game is well worth owning (but ESPECIALLY Pocket Card Jockey!). Then you have Ace Attorney Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice (digital only outside of Japan); NES Remix 1 & 2, the list goes on and on! -

Digital is great for games that would otherwise have no chance at a physical release. But yeah, they can't replace physical completely. We're about to find out with Google Stadia... -

3DS and Wii U eShop purchases to end March 2023

Very sad news. I mean, we all knew it would happen eventually, but it's still very sad to actually see happen... This is a terrible answer though and whoever wrote it should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. They're openly admitting that NSO is a poor substitute for Virtual Console and aren't even trying to appease its loss. Also gives the impression that GB/GBA/DS/Wii games wont be coming to Switch or any future Nintendo platform for a very long time if ever... Given that NOA just said that they're probably not coming any time soon? Get them NOW while you can! Don't assume anything with Nintendo when it comes to classic re-releases. Oh, speaking of which... @Hero-of-Time Make sure that you get Fire Emblem Revelations NOW before it's gone; because otherwise the incredibly rare and ludicrously expensive Fire Emblem Fates: Special Edition cartridge will be your only option to play it! -
You didn't link to the original article or give any context about where it came from and what it is. Kind of poor form for everyone here who hasn't read the article yet
