Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition (Out Now!)
Dcubed replied to darksnowman's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Really? I mean, I like Chrono Cross, but that is easily its weakest aspect. It's a good RPG in its own right, but it is an awful sequel to Chrono Trigger that actively dumps on the original game. -
I'm sure that they will also be coming as well. They'll just be saving those announcements until later (can't be revealing their whole hand too soon after all!). Each wave will probably come with a selection of those bits from Tour as a bonus; much like how we got Mii Costumes announced alongside Smash DLC characters.
-
BTW, calling it now. K-Rool is gonna be making his grand return as a playable character, and only he gets to have Kremling goalies; that's the only reason why Kritter is no longer the default goalie. His half-stage will be Kremling Island from DK64, and DK's will be DK Island. When K-Rool wins a match against DK specifically, he'll get a special unique animation where a giant lazer shoots out of the Kremling Island's mouth and destroys the DK Island side of the pitch.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition (Out Now!)
Dcubed replied to darksnowman's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yeah, the character choices really don't matter much at all in terms of story. The dialogue is basically the same for everyone with some minor tweaks to add character flavour. It's basically a way of adding some variety to each playthrough. -
Asano's team are certainly moving up in the world! S-E is basically them and then the rest is all junk at this point lol. It's the most Square-Enix thing in the world that Live A Live of all things gets a lavish HD 2D remake, while Final Fantasy 1-6 and Chrono Trigger get mobile junk ports
-
I'm currently subscribed to the NSO + Expansion Pass and I still bought this DLC immediately; even though I get it for free with my subscription. Stupidly good value, and a fantastic way to throw a fat middle finger to Mario Kart Tour! Fuck you Mario Kart Tour. Hope you rot in hell!
-
Nintendo have already wasted outrageous amounts of time, money, manpower and resources on that failure of a mobile game; there's no way they can justify wasting EVEN MORE resources on this! This is a salvage port project, further asset reworking would be completely outside of the project's scope. You're getting reworked lighting/shading in the MK8 engine and that's about it. No actual major geometry or texture art asset reworking. Also keep in mind that 48 courses is literally 1.5x a brand new Mario Kart game's worth of content. That is a HELL of a lot of content you are getting here! Mario Kart Tour literally prevented Nintendo from making an original Mario Kart game for Switch, and it was a complete bomba on mobile. The opportunity cost in play here with that game is absolutely unbelievable, and Nintendo clearly realised this. Hence, this DLC had to happen; but the price also had to reflect the effort being spent on the port.
-
Speaking of recycling failed mobile games... I wonder if there's a legit chance that Super Mario Run might actually now get ported to Switch as NSMBU DX DLC... I would actually love that! Make it happen Nintendo!
-
Well yeah, they're all recycled from Mario Kart Tour. Of course they're gonna be basic looking compared to MK8's native courses lol. The (stupidly cheap) price also reflects this.
-
I bet they will probably include costumes alongside each set as they get released... Mario Kart Tour has a ridiculous amount of costumes that they will want to carry over here (after all, this entire DLC set is designed to salvage as much from that failed mobile project as possible!); they will most likely just announce them later on.
-
Also, this is Xenoblade Flutes Edition. Just saying... flutes are cool.
-
That's stupid cheap! I can't believe that Valve are actually releasing console games again!!! Interesting that it's being ported by NVidia Lightspeed Studios... (The internal NVidia development team that worked on the NVidia Shield TV ports; including the China exclusive Wii emulation projects...). This is their first Switch release! Wonder if this means that we could be seeing the other NVidia Shield TV games get ported over to Switch now... I certainly wouldn't mind seeing MGS 2 & 3 HD and Metal Gear Rising come to Switch

Waluigi! Yeah, YEAH, YYYYEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition (Out Now!)
Dcubed replied to darksnowman's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Why yes, I will be purchasing Radical Dreamers in English. Thank you very much! -
Looks more like Xenoblade 1 than Xenoblade 2? I think I'm feeling it!
-
Odd grab-bag of sports, but I reckon that they'll probably keep adding more as DLC down the line. Hopefully Namco won't Namco it up too much (thank Christ you can ignore those ugly Mii knockoffs and have the real deal instead!)...
-
Makes the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters all the more insulting. Wow! I can't believe that it's finally getting an English localisation! Bahamut Lagoon and Treasure Hunter G actually have a realistic chance now! Unbelieveble! Have always wanted to try this game out, looking forward to this one

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes (24th June)
Dcubed replied to darksnowman's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I don't know why I didn't expect this... it's super obvious in hindsight! -
MARIO KART'S BACK ON THE MENU BOYS!!!
-
How does Live A Live get a fucking HD 2D remake, while the Final Fantasies get that absolute POS mobile trashfire treatment? I think that's the bigger question here TBH.
-
It's £25 for everything. This is basically adding in all of the content from Mario Kart Tour; salvaged from that failure of a game. Rather than it really being all new for MK8. Which explains the stupidly cheap price.
-
Well it looks more like the first game than the second one so far... Feeling optimistic so far
-
Xenoblade 3 time! Hope it's more like the first game than the second one...
-
BIT FUCKING LATE FOR MARIO KART 8 DLC!!! But finally! Those Mario Kart Tour tracks and art assets are FINALLY no longer going to waste! Guess Nintendo finally gave up on MK Tour! About damn time!
-
Metroid Dread doesn't need to be made any harder lol.
