  1. The full day-1 list has now been released via the South Korean PSN...
  2. So far so good. I'm interested in seeing how 3D PS1 games look though, as it sounds like everything gets upresed to HD... While that would be very nice, I'd really want an option to run the games at their original resolution and without texture filtering... PS1 games just aren't the same if the textures aren't super pixellated and wobbling all over the place ya know?
  3. Looks like it's a widespread issue and not just you @Hero-of-Time... https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2022/05/game-breaking-bug-reportedly-discovered-in-switch-online-version-of-kirby-64 Nintendo's QA standards really have slipped tremendously since the Wii era, or even the Wii U/3DS era...
  4. Haven’t watched the new Summoning Salt yet, but I will do so tonight! But even before I watch it, I’m confident in saying that this video shows why NSMB Wii is still the best 2D Mario game ever made…. Because it is!
  5. That's amazing! Very interesting to see that some of the beta content from this build (music in particular) actually ended up getting repurposed for Shenmue 3! Super interesting stuff!
  6. Yeah, Dreamcast has an incredible library, but it's also true that most of the console's best titles did get ported to later platforms (and usually in superior form). There really isn't much left that's truly exclusive to the console anymore (mainly Capcom's titles and some super niche stuff like Bangai-O, D2 and Blue Stinger).
  7. And this is why Nintendo have recently been performing Share buybacks, an upcoming 10:1 stock split, and a purchase of SRD over the past few weeks/months. Thankfully they have enough treasury shares to ward off would-be hostile takeovers, but they would do well to continue clawing back control over their own company with share buybacks and with formally acquiring long-term partners... especially as industry consolidation continues.
  8. That makes sense. Can't offer you games that aren't available on PS4/PS5 yet. It's just like the Wii-Wii U VC upgrade scheme that Nintendo had before, minus the small upgrade fee. The question now is, how long will it take to build up the new PS1/PSP library and will it ever get back up to the point that it got to on PS3/Vita? Oh yeah, and also, will Sony revive and spin back up the PS2 on PS4/PS5 service with newly added titles?
  9. That's a great trailer; really highlights the utter absurdity of this crossover! Just a shame that this game is F2P... I'd actually be really interested in playing Multiversus, but alas...
  10. Excellent news all around. I'm shocked that Sony are honouring past PS1/PSP PSN purchases! That's absolutely huge for me! That honestly may have sold me on a PS5 (or at least encouraged me to hook up my PS4 again). Of course, that all depends on the execution, so jury's still out on that front.
  11. Free upgrade for existing owners!? Oh hell yes! Now that's a move I didn't expect Sony to make, but I will very much appreciate the gesture! So... I basically own every single worthwhile PS1 & PSP game available on PSN already? Does that mean that I don't even need to subscribe to transfer my existing purchases over? If so? Sony may have just sold me a PS5! (or at least convinced me to hook up my PS4 again). How will multi-region purchases work I wonder? Will the 60hz NTSC games be available on the EU store this time around? All of my PS1 purchases were made on a US account (for that 60hz goodness), and my JPN account (for the JPN exclusives). I suspect that this will be a bit of a messy process... Hopefully the rollout of PS1/PSP titles won't be excruciatingly slow...
  12. I totally agree with @Hero-of-Time on this one. The original game was basically Star Fox Photography and it was a snappy, short n’ sweet arcade style high score experience. By contrast, New Pokémon Snap is a slow-paced, sleepy and grindy affair. It also lacks the interesting and intricate level & encounter design of the original N64 game; and the Pokémon don’t really react much to your presence. There just isn’t anything like having the Electrode exploding to reveal the path to the Volcano level here, or leading the Pidgeys to attack Meowth on the Beach stage here. It’s basically a sleepy Pokémon safari, rather than a clever puzzle game/score attack game like the original.
  13. The official Investors Q&A English translation is out now… https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2022/220511_2e.pdf … surprise surprise! It’s substantially different from the earlier fan-translation. And this is why I told you to hold out for the official translation before analysing it @Ronnie.
  14. So that just leaves Pokemon Snap as the lone N64 NSO game announced but not yet released... How convinient that the current N64 wave runs out right before E3... I still think that N64 is gonna dry up completely after this wave, despite there being plenty of games still left over to be released... but they'll fill the hole by announcing GB/GBA games for NSO instead.
  15. Woah! Simon! Your Mii changed! It looks… weird, I’m so used to your old one!
  16. Agreed @Julius. There’s only so long you can blame XGS’ woes on COVID for. We’re four years out from the start of Xbox’s acquisition spree, and more than 2 years out from the start of the pandemic. XBS’ low output can’t be excused by COVID anymore. I think Microsoft will probably focus on securing day 1 releases for 3rd party games on Gamepass for the rest of the year. I suspect that they’ll try and secure every single remaining major 3rd party game due to come out this year (including COD and FIFA). I can’t think of anything else they can realistically do now for the rest of the year to give themselves an advantage over Playstation.
  17. So… err… Redfall and Starfield just got bumped out of 2022 and into next year… meaning that Xbox Game Studios literally don’t have a single game lined up for release in 2022. As things stand, 2022 will go by without a single retail XBS release on their own console (ironically, PS5 has gotten an XBS game in the form of Ghostwire Tokyo though). If Xbox do not announce a game coming out in 2022 at not-E3, then this will officially be the worst first party games drought that any platform holder has ever seen in the history of the medium (yes, even worse than the N64 and Wii U droughts). What a disaster!!
  18. Wow! That’s a huge blow for Xbox. They have literally no retail games lined up for the rest of the year now! Are they seriously gonna go without a single retail release for an entire year!? This is literally the worst first party games drought for any platform holder in all of gaming history!
  19. That would be a shocking get if so. Those games have never been re-released before! That would definitely get me interested in subscribing!
  20. Oops! Never mind! I thought it was a new trailer that was reusing old footage. Didn't realise that it was just the same trailer as before!
  21. Nope. This announcement is definitely for Hundred Heroes. 505 Games just announced the Switch version today in that press release I quoted in the first post (and they pointed out that this was specifically announced today too). Rising on the other hand was announced for Switch around a month ago, it's definitely not the one being announced here.
  22. That’s not the official translation, it’s a fan translation of the Japanese Q&A session. Wait for the official English transcript before dissecting Furukawa’s statement here.
  23. https://www.gamingaccessweekly.com/2022/05/eiyuden-chronicle-rising-sets-the-stage-on-pc-and-consoles-today/ Switch version confirmed today! It's no longer being held back for Switch 2 (guess the devs got tired of waiting), so now it goes in the Nintendo Gaming forum! New trailer for both Hundred Heroes and Rising got released today too... I suspect that the Switch version will end up being a trash afterthought port (just like Bloodstained before it), but hey! It's coming to Switch now, so have at it.
  24. That's exactly what the twist is about. It was one of the first examples of real meta-commentary regarding video game design (remember that the game originally launched in 2007; 5-6 years before The Stanley Parable), so it was really shocking and groundbreaking at the time. Doubly so considering that it was a traditional "AAA" video game and not a small indie title. Funnily enough, it launched just a few months after Super Paper Mario, which was also notable (and controversial) for its own metacommentary on game design (It's basically a big manifesto against RPG game design and how RPGs & social games are intentionally designed to waste your time in order to provide a false perception of "value" for money).
  25. All very good points, but it's worth keeping in mind that EA make a lot more than just FIFA... so those cash reserves wouldn't be spent purely on just EA Sports FC... And EA have been really struggling outside of FIFA over the last few years. Pretty much all of their other major franchises (save for Madden and the lucky Hail Mary that was Apex Legends) have basically crashed and burned. If EA struggle to transition from FIFA to EA Sports FC, I could easily see them burning through those cash reserves pretty fast; and an acquisition (especially during this Endgame period of the western video game industry) not being far off. I doubt that they'd be allowed to do that. Their recent contract extension terms will almost certainly prevent them from directly advertising EA Sports FC (or any other non-FIFA branded game) anywhere within FIFA 23 itself.... ... that being said... if EA were smart, they'd attempt to start off the new branding by launching EA Sports FC 23 this year, which would be a byte for byte copy of FIFA 23 with the logos switched out, on the same date/time as FIFA 23 (not sure how legal that would be, but it'd be a killer way of setting consumer expectations off the bat!)
