  1. Remember that crazy RPG that was released on the eShop in Japan? Going by the name of Denpa Ningen no RPG (or Radio Wave People RPG) and made by Genius Sonority (Pokemon Colloseum, Pokemon XD, Dragon Quest & The Tower of Mirrors)? Well it turns out that it's getting a western release according to Siliconera! http://www.siliconera.com/2012/07/23/pokemon-colosseum-developers-denpa-ningen-rpg-travelling-out-of-japan/ Like its Japanese counterpart, it'll also be getting a demo prior to its release
  2. And DAT MUSIC! Ugh!!! Still sends shivers down my spine
  3. It's funny that people keep comparing SM64 to Banjo Kazooie and Tooie when the two/three games could scarcely be any more different! While SM64 is a pure platformer that happens to take place in an open 3D environment, Banjo Kazooie is more of an action adventure game with platforming elements. The actual platforming in BK and in BT is actually fairly basic and is instead mostly a tool that is used for exploring. Most of the challenges in Mario 64 are that of the platforming kind (whereby you are rewarded with a star for accomplishing a platforming task), while in BK & BT most Jiggys are either rewards for exploration (the ones you find lying around), rewards for completing seperate mini games or are rewards for mastery of your character's skillsets/basic platforming. That's also what separates BK/BT from the rest of the "collectathon" gaggle. In those games, you're never tasked with just mindlessly running around to find random shit that has been randomly scattered around (DK64 on the other hand...), instead they are used as rewards for completing certain tasks or for exploring the environment in an intended way (with the environments designed around their placement). In that respect, this is the big similarity it shares with Mario 64. BK may have been touted as the "Mario 64 Killer" but in actual fact, it's more like a hybrid of Mario, Metroid and Zelda.
  4. That's really nice to see that Hino actually cares about having people not wrecking their lives to play his game. These convenience features along with "Kids Time" should hopefully go a long way towards making the game much more approachable.
  5. Little bit more detail about the download cards... http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/31129 So 7-11 are offering a 7% discount on the DD version. I wonder if we'll see bigger discounts offered elsewhere?
  6. Just cause I've been playing it recently... The whole damn thing. SCREW YOU RUNNER!
  7. Trauma Center Second Opinion and Trauma Center New Blood (Trauma Team isn't quite as hard as the first two). The whole games really, but especially the extra missions after beating the game. I weep because I'll never be as good as this guy DKCR also deserves a mention. The main game already gets ball bustingly hard, but the Speed Run Medals are utterly ridiculous (I'm pretty sure that Shiny Gold ones are impossible without breaking the game!)
  8. Yeah I hope so too. Pikmin 2 and Crazy Taxi are probably the only games (or are at least the only ones I can think of) where non game product placement actually improved the game experience!

    3DS XL

3DSxl Iwata Laughs is out now http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/3ds/xl/0/0 Lots of lovely Industrial Design geeky goodness Confirmation that the speakers have been downgraded from the original 3DS INTERNAL DESIGN PORN! ANTI GLARE PROTECTION!!! FINALLY! ON A NINTENDO HANDHELD AT LAST! (this one's for you @RedShell!) A bonus video demonstrating 3D, pre-installed on every 3DSxl And of course... (amongst other goodness)
  10. WTF happened to Ike?! That was one extreme diet he went on! Lyn on the other hand looks AWESOME!
  11. It's not like a regular pinball game where you stick with a single table with the goal of just getting the high score. Think of it as having each table being a "level" that you beat (there are 3 "stages" in all), with boss battles at the end. Each "stage" consists of 3 small pinball tables vertically stacked on top of each other and the goal is to get to the top and get to the boss stage (upon which, you beat said boss) Of course it does track your high scores and ultimately you are aiming to shoot for the highest score, but the way the game is set up is very different from your typical pinball game. It's more like a pinball platformer than a traditional pinball game (which I guess is why Nintendolife weren't so keen on it), but the high scores are something you actually aim for (think Donkey Kong arcade as opposed to Super Mario Bros) It's a unique take on the pinball genre for sure! And of course, the music is catchy as hell (well it is a Kirby game after all!)
  12. OH SWEET BABY JESUS YES!!! I LOVE this game! and it's one that will benefit hugely from the 3DS' VC features (temp save states, always there portability etc) Definately double dipping on this one!
  13. Did anyone get anything other than Kirby's 20th Anniversary via Spotpass today? (probably not, but you never know!) I was expecting it to be NSMB2 when the message popped up, was pleasantly surprised (secretly though, I was hoping against hope that it would be a Skyward Sword one. Always seemed weird that they never did one!)
  14. Maybe it's made up of the bones of all the Marios that it has eaten? Edit: NEW FOOTAGE! (2nd set of Jpn adverts and they actually showcase some new levels/mechanics!) Now THAT's more like it! The giant Boo level and the Koopakid chase looks like tons of fun! Can't wait
  15. All those memory games are going to be the death of me! (to be fair, I could do with them though. My memory is terrible!) Too bad we have to wait until next year We had better get Iwata's disembodied head included with the game! Edit: Demon Training demo is out now on the JPN eShop. Lucky bastards
  16. Good week all in all! (I've already got WL2 on GBC cartridge, so I'll skip it, but my mate will be chuffed! ) Except for the Theathrythm DLC, kinda meh songs really.
  17. The fact that something like this even has a chance of existing (with some actual major devs pledging support like Mojang) really says a lot about today's marketplace. The Wii U really is coming just in time (if not a tad late). People are craving new consoles and the industry has become so rote and boring (outside of handhelds) that even the mighty COD is starting to waver now.
  18. Too bad they haven't turned it into a good game

    3DS XL

Seconded. I'm super jelly (but way too lazy to make my own - hell I'm too lazy to change my avatar! )
  20. The hell!? It's arguably the best thing about the 3DS! (outside of the top games ) Streetpass Plaza is a close second though.
  21. No kidding! Here's a vid from the E3 build to compare It's almost like it's coming from two completely different consoles Still, I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. The concept sounds fantastic and looks to be well executed... on the other hand it's coming from these guys... Please let this game be good!
  22. Apparantly the port is being done by Hexadrive! (Rez HD) http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/25/okami-hd-developed-by-capcom-and-hexa-drive/ And it seems to be running in full 1080p!!! http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/07/12/okami-hd-at-comic-con-amaterasu-unleashed-with-move-1080p/ FINALLY! A quality HD port! I'm on board for sure now
  23. GOLD BOO FTW!!!
  24. Woah! They look sweet as hell! Want the Shell one (well actually, I want them all, but there's no way I'm gonna accrue 15,000 stars in time )
