Doesn't mean it will actually get released. They create Shantae prototypes on every platform they work on (there was an unreleased GBA Shantae game, as well as a 3D pologonal Shantae demo on GCN!) There was also a Wii prototype as well, but I don't know if that was 2D or 3D or anything about it really. Just that it existed. Dont get your hopes up about a possible release as it probably wont happen for some time, if at all.
-
And a never release for us
-
Yes it will. Same goes for any other Nintendo handheld (or console for that matter!)
-
This thread makes me miserable. Just looking at it reminds me of how we're not getting MH3G or MH4
-
Yeah very true. That's the reason why I'm waiting on the 3DS version of The Pinball Arcade, instead of getting one of the other versions (I have a Vita and an iPhone 4S, so portability is not a defining factor here since I could just play those ones on the go if I wanted to) S3D is the missing link with pinball simulation IMO. It removes that last barrier of unbelievability and makes it feel like an honest to goodness real pinball table. Switching back and forth between 2D and 3D really makes you appreciate the difference and see how much more playable pinball is in S3D (especially with the ramps! You can't tell that they hover above the playfield in 2D at all!) Problem is that The Pinball Arcade 3DS isn't here yet and doesn't seem to be coming for a good while to come (I don't even care about the Wii U version, I just want the 3DS one)

Not even that. The game is entirely in English already! (you can switch to English from the menu options) The game is done and ready to go, but SEGA delayed it at the last minute (SOA/SOE probably had to fight to even get a release at all for it and a delay was a compromise) In a way there's a silver lining in all this in that SOJ will still be making arcade titles (as Japan still has a budding Arcade scene) and the western arm's new found focus on digital should mean that we'll be getting those titles in download form. Still, I can't see them localising the likes of Yakuza anymore, so say goodbye to all their RPGs (unless they start allowing 3rd parties to localise their games for them again!)

Yeah same. I wanted the white one too Probably gonna go with Silver or Blue (already have a red DSiXL, would be boring having 2 giant red handhelds!)

Ooh, bit of extra detail... http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/27/what-has-and-hasnt-changed-about-the-3ds-xl So no sort of post processing filter (a ridiculous suggestion to begin with!), the speakers are exactly the same as the original 3DS and the D-pad/Face buttons are slightly bigger than on the original 3DS! Good signs for an improved D-pad all round

Funny, I much prefer RE: Revelations without it! MGS3D and KHDDD (after playing the demo) on the other hand...

Green triangle just means that it's the UK version. Purple means that it's Multi 5 http://www.nanaky.eu/NintendoTriangles.html

Not a big surprise but nice to have confirmation. I wonder if it'll end up being as big as the Wii U Pad when you add on the CPPXL?

Well I've played the original Project Zero 1 & 2, but I never finished either of them (got about halfway through the first one and up to I think chapter 4 or 5 on PZ2, but it has been years since I've played either of them, so my memory is hazy). That being said, here are my thoughts after a couple of hours with each... Project Zero 2 Wii Edition (up to chapter 3) Like the original game, this game oozes atmosphere. For those who've been craving a game that delivers on atmosphere (particularily in light of the death of survival horror at the hands of action shooter fests like RE5 and Dead Space), this game delivers. It's slow paced and light on action, with an interesting and novel combat system (where your only means of defence is through an enchanted camera known as the camera obscura) The use of ghosts and super natural phenomena makes for a very different type of scare and tension than your typical zombie horror title. This is a game where your foes are invisible (until you look through the camera) and can come from anywhere (through walls, from behind you name it!), but the scares and tension more often come from what doesn't happen - rather than what does. It's a subtle game that's more about the unseen and unsettlement than your typical jump scare or action fest. That being said, the game is pretty hard and you probably will see the game over screen regularly. Ghosts are tough and health recovery items are scarce! In comparison to the original in this respect... the gameplay additions definitely enhance that feeling of tension - the randomisation of ghost encounters, the new over the shoulder camera, the presence of two invincible ghosts that insta kill you (ALA One Dangerous Zombie from the GCN REmake), the item touch system etc all work really well. The level design has also changed significantly, with new areas, encounters, mechanics and events scattered throughout that play on your knowledge of the original in many respects; so if you're very familiar with the original, I think you many appreciate the remake even more. One thing that doesn't work well though IMO is the voice acting. While not badly done in of itself, the fact that the game stars two Japanese twins in a lonesome deathly Japanese village means that the thick British accents really do not fit the characters! Possibly to the point of distraction (one character who is very obviously voiced by the same VA who did Shulk from Xenoblade felt particularly out of place!) It's like watching a live action Asian movie with a US/British dub, just feels wrong. One thing that always bothered me about the original game though were the controls; they always felt clunky and unresponsive in the original version. While it has been a long while since I played it last, the Wii version does seem to be more responsive in terms of controls - walking around and interacting with objects feels much easier than I remember. The flashlight/camera controls are disappointing though, not because they use delayed accelerometer controls rather than the pointer (which I appreciate were done to slow down your character's movement and keep that feeling of helplessness), but rather because bizzarly they're only mapped to up and down! You can't use the Wiimote to move your flashlight/camera left and right, only up and down (the analog stick controls left and right movement). This is awkward and feels like rubbing your stomach while patting your head! I've not tried the Haunted House mode yet, but looking forward to giving it a go! Overall, enjoying it muchly so far. So long as I can get over the awkward flashlight/camera controls, I might well be able to finish it this time! Spirit Camera You... Need... Liiiiiiigggghhhhttttt!!!!! First thing you'll notice with this game is that it's really picky with it's luminence requirement! Luckliy I have an iPad so I can put the PDF version of the diary on there and have it work perfectly! (though a bit of the novelty is lost from not physically turning the pages yourself ). Otherwise, the AR tech works perfectly... in ideal circumstances. If you don't have enough light (or a laptop/tablet handy in a dark room) you'll have a tough time playing it! It's one that you also really need to make some free time for. Given the setup requirement and the fact that it doesn't allow you to save at any time (only at preset story points), this is not a pickup and play game at all. Unlike it's predecessors however, it doesn't really deliver that creepy atmosphere that the series is known for. It actually feels a bit campy! Not very scary at all. When you know how everything works (and that you can break the AR effect by looking away from the book), you can't really suspend your disbelief at all. The fact that the game randomly switches between voiced and unvoiced dialogue doesn't help matters either... However this game is truly novel. It does feel like the real next step with the 3DS' AR games and I've already seen plenty of parts in the game that are really quite clever in how the AR is used. Without spoiling anything, if you're the kind of person who gasped in glee when you solved that puzzle in Another Code where you had to close your DS, you'll like the puzzles in this game! Outside of it's sheer novelty however, I have doubts about its lasting appeal. The gameplay mechanics, including combat, aren't really that deep in of themselves (though certaintly a good notch above the included AR games on the 3DS) and of course you'll already know how to solve the puzzles after an initial playthrough; It's also not very difficult (I've yet to die once). Despite the fact that it's not very deep or very creepy at all, I'm still finding it fun.

Sounds like it's not for me then. Not that I actively dislike a traditional JRPG turn based battle system, but I need something more interesting to hook me. Same problem as I had with the Dragon Quest games (except for DQ9, where the multiplayer got me into it). Lovely characters/world etc, but the core gameplay is dull as dishwater.
-
I hear that it's all about the story/characters and that the gameplay is pretty average with nothing really that noteworthy about it; and the videos do nothing to dispel this feeling for me. Is that the case? (If so, I can see why GAF likes it so much...) Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, it's just not for me. I want a game, not a visual novel. Otherwise, there's nothing else in this sale that really grabs me. I've already got pretty much all I want anyway (MHFU, Tactics Ogre etc)
-
Cool stuff. I hope they have a better map this time though (and a more zoomed out view. The original game was so cramped!) Could be cool if they take advantage of the S3D for multilayered stages!
-
Makes sense. They release English language games there anyway (that's where I imported my copy of Inazuma Eleven from when it wasn't looking like it was coming out in the UK)
-
YAY! it's here! (along with Spirit Camera ) Thanks for the early ship, Shopto! Impressions to come...
-
Hang on a tick. Seems that it may be coming to the UK only... http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=480234 NOE cheaping out and not wanting localising it into other languages? Seems so Guess that would explain why it wasn't in the Nintendo Direct video... knew this reveal smelt fishy...

I have. It's a fun little minigolf game that's nicely polished and decent fun. The trickshot mode is fun, the music is nice, the graphics are good (duh, it's Shinen!) and it's nicely polished - but it wont knock your socks off. It's a good little minigolf game, that's well made, but that's it. I'd say it's worth a pickup. I bought it for full price and felt it was well worth it. My only real disappointment is that the Pro and Super Cups just use the same courses as the first 3 cups, but with extra hazards, rather than all new courses.

Cough, Ahuhm, June? I never said June
-
Agreed totally. Always annoys the hell out of me and it's such a waste with games like Xenoblade which have beautiful reverse covers that are ruined by lacking the spine. Flip over... That's how it should be done!

EU Release: October 5, 1999 EU Release: October 1st 2004 EU Release: October 21, 2005 Seems pretty likely to me

Why yes I do actually! Apparently the US version of PKMN Conquest is region free though (Same as PKMN B&W EU/US version) Funny how it's only the English Pokemon games that are region free on DSi! I have an EU DSiXL a US DSi and an EU 3DS so I'd be set either which way. Still, I can't believe that they didn't mention it in the Nintendo Direct video, what the hell are NOE thinking!? What better way to set up a game to fail than to give it a silent launch out of nowhere? What's next!? Fire Emblem New Mystery of the Emblem coming out next week out of nowhere? (Actually, I'd be cool with that. Even though it deserves some fucking buildup, I just want the damn game. Please do it NOE! )

BAM! Coming July 27th (why the hell wasn't this in the Nintendo Direct video!?) http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2012/06/pokemon_conquest_reaches_europe_on_27th_july Announced 1 whole whopping month before release! Way to go NOE! I literally just imported this 3 days ago Ahh well, I still get it cheaper anyway!

Yeah it is, but not all cases bother with a full design (complete with logo). Some that feature art on the other side only fill the boxes and nothing else. Nice to see them put the extra effort in.
