List updated (Now with Headstrong and Asobism accounted for. I've also added Mitchell, who is another long time 3rd party partner that I had forgotten about, creators of Polarium and Puzzloop, since they've got a new 3DS eShop game in development via Nintendo Direct)
-
Nice to see it go retail! Shame it (seemingly) makes my original version redundant (Hi Tetris Party/Tetris Party Deluxe!) I wonder if this'll get a dual retail/download release?
-
If you make it thicker then it's no longer portable. It would be roughly the same size as the Wii U Pad! As for game compatiblity, games that utilise the Circle Pad Pro feature use of the peripheral's 2 extra shoulder buttons (Zr and Zl) If you remove them and just have the 2nd circle pad, those games would be no longer playable, since they're missing buttons that are normally used. I wouldn't expect massive improvements. It's probably a brighter screen, with maybe double the sweet spots (from 3 to 6), but I wouldn't expect the sweet spots themselves to be larger. S3D tech hasn't evolved much since the 3DS came out. I expect the viewing angle (in 2D) to be improved though, just like it was with the DSiXL.
-
No room for 4 shoulder buttons = no way to implement 2nd circle pad from CPPro (would break game compatibility) End of.
-
I can't believe that this is actually getting an EU release. It's 1.5 years late! We get this and not Pokemon Conquest!? Really weird decision. Ultimately it's better for all of us, since we now get both games in English! Still bitter that NOE picked this over Fire Emblem New Mystery of the Emblem though...
-
Hopefully retailers will do the smart thing and bundle chargers with the console by themselves... Would be an obvious way to 1up the competition, especially given how many cheap 3rd party and 2nd hand chargers there are out there...
-
So yeah, demo's out. It's awesome, go get! A ranked the FF13 song in Ultimate. AWWWW YEAH!! Ultimate difficulty is nice and hard BTW!
-
Oh whoops! Weird, it didn't come up in the search. Ok moving there. Cheers!
-
Yeah me too. I dismissed it when I first saw it, until I found out who was making it. Been looking forward to it for a good long while. This is the 3DS' Ouendan/EBA and I'm even more sure of that now I've played the demo! Here's hoping that the story is as nonsensical as it's progenitors! (considering that it's essentially Dissidia part 3, I expect that to be the case too )
-
So the demo is out now and I just noticed that this game doesn't have a thread yet (WTF!? SERIOUSLY!?) As expected, it's awesome But then again, considering that Indieszero made it (Electroplankton, Retro Game Challenge) I'm not surprised Also it's only £22 on Shopto, for those looking to pre-order http://www.shopto.net/3DS/VIDEO%20GAMES/3DSTH07-Theatrhythm%20Final%20Fantasy.html Ultimate difficulty is haaaaarrrdddd!!!!
-
Yep, Theathythm is fucking awesome as expected The 3DS' Ouendan/EBA for sure.
-
The bottom screen is the same size as the DSiXL's (the top being a widescreen version of the DSiXL's screen)
-
WOAH! Someone on GAF made a great point! There's a secret awesome feature of the 3DSXL. You know how you can make GB/GBC/GBA/DS games display at 1-1 resolution by holding down Start/Select? (Sharp pixels, but really small GB Micro size) Well, with the XL, the screen size and DPI will match the original DS model now! (With no nasty blurry upscaling!) (Awesome large chunky pixels!) Nice Never thought they'd manage to solve the problem (in a roundabout way!)
-
S3D tech hasn't moved on very much since the 3DS first came out. The biggest new thing is that screens can now have more sweet spots than before, so I reckon that'll be the main change. The sweet spots will probably still be small, but you'll probably be able to see the 3D effect at more angles than before (The current 3DS only has 3 sweet spots. Maybe double for this one?) Not without having prongs/curvature at the end like a controller. Those Classic Controller (original model) bumpers don't work very well, nor are they really cross compatible with the Pro style ones (since it's basically impossible to press all 4 buttons at once while you're playing - meaning that you wouldn't be able to play games that are designed around using all 4 of them, like MGS3D) Even the Vita doesn't have 4 shoulder buttons and that thing is huge! There's a good reason why they've not included them.
-
Getting Starfox Assault vibes from this... Also feels like Iwata is rushing Sakurai against his will. We all know how that turned out last time... (Kirby's Air Ride was rushed out, Sakurai left Nintendo in protest) Not happy about this at all... At least this means that we're guaranteed to see some Tales of characters in SSB4!
-
I've said this a thousand times. You can't have the 2nd circle pad because there's no way to incorporate the additional 2 shoulder buttons on a handheld device. Now we need a Circle Pad Pro XL... Not having the AC adapter though is fucking moronic. Fuck them for expecting everyone who buys one to already own a DSi/DSiXL/3DS!
-
No 2nd Circle Pad or extra shoulder buttons!? FUCK YEAH!!! I AM NOSTRADAMUS! Non believers can suck it! Not having an AC adapter included for Europe is a monumentally stupid decision however that I hope comes back to bite NOE in the arse. Fucking cheapskates, all the other regions have AC adaptors! Also, I'm not a big fan of the design of the top lid's inside. Looks cheap (especially the 3D slider), but the improved battery life is very welcome and hopefully it comes with a better D-pad than on the original model. The new Start/Select/Home buttons look soooooo much better than the old ones though! Agreed. NOA are handling it much better than NOE all around. Well that's obvious. There's no way they can just change the resolution and keep compatibility. The games are designed to a set specification. This is a console, not a PC/mobile phone.

Probably about 3-4 hours. Getting everything might take a bit longer.

New Nintendo Direct tomorrow! (JPN & EU!)
Dcubed replied to Dcubed's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Well, every single Nintendo Direct thus far has had something completely new announced in it, in addition to release dates and new info for games we already know about, so it's not just stuff they've announced before... Plus we did get to see Nintendo's sound studio last time. I'd love to see more though (maybe they could show us their MoCap studio!) -

New Nintendo Direct tomorrow! (JPN & EU!)
Dcubed replied to Dcubed's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Considering that everything else in that set of rumours turned out to be true, I'd expect this one to be as well. Now is the perfect time to announce it really. DQM just came out a few weeks ago and there's no other event from now till Late November/December (6 months time from DQM's release), aside from TGS and the next Nintendo Direct - both of which would come far too close to its intended release date. Better to announce it after DQM's release, rather than before and see it take away from its sales impact. I also expect some Animal Crossing 3DS, Tomodachi Collection 2 and Demon Training details as well at the Japanese event at least (no way will any of them be coming out this year in EU) Not strictly true. We've had ND announcements of games that were way far off from release before (Demon Training and Tomodachi Collection 2 spring to mind instantly) -
It was retail in Japan, but it's download only in the US. No word on an EU release... [cough]this is where you come in Ghostlight/Rising Star Games[/cough]

New Nintendo Direct tomorrow! (JPN & EU!)
Dcubed replied to Dcubed's topic in General Gaming Discussion
There's still the Kirby 20th Anniversary Collection and Dragon Quest X left to go. Doesn't seem outlandish that they might show some trailers for them. As the 3DS, I suspect that the biggest megaton in this event will be a 3DS remake of Dragon Quest 7. It's been rumoured for quite a while and was said to be coming out 6 months after Dragon Quest Monsters 3DS... I just hope we get some new EU localisation announcements! (MH3G!? - I doubt it - Hell I'd settle for English Fire Emblem Awakening, Layton Mask of Miracles and Dragon Quest Monsters trailers!) -
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/nintendo_direct/index.html Japanese event hits tomorrow @ noon in Japan (4AM GMT) Covers Wii and 3DS games that weren't shown at E3. We also get a EU specific one like last time (Comes with bonus Nintendo Letterbox message from Shibata ) Comes an hour after the JPN one! Speculate away!

Germany and UK are in the same region (Europe/Australia), so that's a yes (for all consoles, not just DS/3DS) But regardless, original DS games are region free anyway.
