I swear that I'm the only person in the universe who actually genuinely enjoyed Killer 7's gameplay. It's restrictive, but that actually makes it interesting to play - it's definitely unique and surprisingly non linear for a game that takes place entirely on rails! It's one hell of an experience for sure though! Suda 51's crowning achievement! Anyway, the only one of the Capcom 5 that I never played was PN03 (well, Dead Phoenix as well, but that doesn't count since it is well... err... dead :p ). VJ of course is a masterpiece, but VJ2 was really nothing special at all. A shame really, cause the twin character setup had some potential (be it co-op or otherwise), but it never goes anywhere really. There's hardly anything actually new in it that doesn't just retread on the same ground that VJ1 already laid. I actually much preferred VJDT on DS; if only it didn't suffer from the no-more-than-two-enemies-onscreen-at-a-time limit though... The DS game had some brilliant ideas behind it! Really very creative, but it's just a shame that the DS' technical limitations hold it back - having only two enemies on screen at a time really takes away from the scoring system since there aren't enough enemies to actually fight against to keep it going! I do miss those days where you could get crazy and really out-there mid tier 3rd party games like that.

Doesn't sound disappointing to me at all. Sounds pretty much exactly like Starfox 64... ... which is exactly the approach they're taking with this game. Minimal story, no baggage from past games, focus squarely on classic Starfox gameplay with new twists via the dual screen Gamepad/TV setup and gyro controls. This is exactly the Starfox game I've been wanting ever since SF64! The only thing I'm concerned about is the level of polish and amount of content it'll end up having, given that it seems to be getting a pretty short (1.5 year odd) dev cycle...

Yeah, that line really threw me for a loop too! I'm actually still playing through it myself. Just about to go for the 4th melody and I'm getting my butt handed to me on an armour plated platter by the armour ghosts! Amazingly enough, despite absolutely hating grinding with the passion of 1000 burning suns, I've actually not found it to be that bad in Earthbound Beginnings really. But anyway, I'll save the overarching impressions for when I actually complete it

The most amazing thing is that they're actually publishing it by themselves! (Distribution is being handled by U&I Entertainment), Wow! What a success story!

It's a lovely piece of kit that really does a great job of improving the 3DS experience, but outside of the CPU/RAM boost, there's nothing inherent to it that makes for an experience that the normal 3DS outright cannot do. It's a bit different from the GBC (colour) and the DSi (downloadable software/Camera) in that regard, even if it is an equivalent upgrade to its predecessors. So this leaves Nintendo in a bit of a quandary here. If they're gonna make exclusive software for it, it needs to be something that simply cannot be made possible on a regular 3DS. And really, graphics/performance is something that can be scaled back in most cases - Xenoblade is one big exception though simply because of the enormous scale of the game. So really, unless it's gonna be something like a realtime video editor, or something on the scale of something like Xenoblade - it doesn't make sense to make it New3DS exclusive. It's more sensible to design it for the normal 3DS and then just offer better visuals/performance for New3DS owners. The only thing that really makes sense is games that run on Unity, since it's an engine that simply doesn't run at acceptable levels on a normal 3DS.

Because in this case, a 60hz multi-language version already exists. Just like with DKC 3 (where the US version actually had the EU languages as well), they could've very easily have released the 60hz multi-language version. Instead, they pull a DKC 2 for no good reason

It could very easily have it put back in though, it would only need a few tweaks as it's already structured like the mobile version...

Pretty funny that it's a direct port when Iwata was saying that that's exactly what he didn't want to do with Nintendo's games (yeah yeah I know, TPC is different, but it's still pretty ironic) It's only fitting that a trashy game goes to a trashy platform. It really is a natural fit, what with it basically being Candy Crush Pokemon Edition. I wonder if we'll see P&D Mario Bros Edition make its way to mobile now as well...

I think that a Pokemon game on a console needs to offer something that can't be done justice on a handheld and that anything that involves a heavy focus on communication (such as the mainline games or the TCG) is simply a better fit for a handheld. So I think that a console Pokemon game should either be communal (like a fighting game or a party game) or something that offers a large scale experience (like a hypothetical Bayonetta style action game starring Hawlucha), or something is specifically designed around offering new forms of gameplay that could only be done with a specific control scheme (here's where a Pokemon Snap 2 controlled with the Gamepad as the camera comes into play )

The £8.99 question here is... 60hz or not? Now normally I would assume that it would be the PAL version, but in this case there IS actually a 60hz version with the EU languages; the one that was included with the Zelda Collector's disc (likewise, there's a 60hz version of MM with the EU languages too). So rightfully they would actually go ahead and use that version if they actually wanted to be smart about this...

It's Animal Crossing... What do you expect it to look like!? Even on GCN, 3DS and Wii it's a series that has never tried to push the limits of graphical prowess. Anyway, I actually think that this game looks like it could be good fun. Gives me a strong Boom Street vibe (those turnip prices have the potential for some epic mind games!) I'm way more interested in this than I would be for another standard console AC. Who needs another Let's Go to the City anyway?

From what I've seen of glen-i playing it, it's a good game but seemingly not an earth shatteringly incredible one. It's also very very chill and not one to get your blood pumping, but rather one that just constantly makes you go DAWWWWWW.

All very well said. Oftentimes I'll go peek into a thread and just see the same circular arguments rear their ugly head once more, sigh and just click right back out. I just don't want to post in a thread that is dominated by the same people at each other's throats. There's a lot of passion on both sides where you get a select few people like Serebii, Ronnie and Sheikah together and that's fine and dandy, but when you just keep going and going and don't know when to quit, then that's a big problem. Now that's not to say that I'm perfect (I know I've butted heads with Sheikah a good few times - but I respect his point of view, even when things might get a bit antagonistic at times ) And I feel that that is the biggest issue, the lack of respect amongst some of us. Serebii can be irritatingly defensive of Nintendo, but even still, he doesn't deserve to have insults and abuse thrown his way. We all know exactly what he thinks of the industry/Nintendo and everything surrounding it, you know exactly how he's going to respond to something negative said about Nintendo; quite frankly, there is simply no need to hound him for the opinion he holds (rightly or wrongly). I think he could stand to have some thicker skin and to be less of an apologist in general, but he is absolutely entitled to have his opinion and is also entitled to some basic respect. Likewise, Sheikah may well be the total opposite of Serebii in regards to one's opinion of Nintendo's general direction, but he too deserves to have his opinion respected and does not deserve to have abuse hurled his way. Now in regards to where we go from here, I feel that segregation is not the answer. What's the point of having a discussion board if we can't discuss freely? One thing that I really feel we should insist on though is to stop with the thread derailing. I'm sick and tired of going into game specific threads and finding people talking about the industry in general and getting into arguments over which console is better/Sony VS Nintendo etc instead of talking about the actual game that the thread is supposed to be about. If you want to discuss that kind of stuff, there are plenty of other places you can go do so; I shouldn't be going into the Zelda Wii U thread and finding people talking about how much the PS4 sucks. Otherwise, what I want to see most of all is just some simple understanding and respect for each other. We don't need antagonism, we all just want a friendly place to discuss everything gaming here (Nintendo or otherwise in their respective places). And we're only going to get that if we cut out the personal attacks and digs at each other. So let bygones be bygones and if someone ends up having a differing opinion from your own and is clearly not being swayed by your argument, then let it be. The whole point of a discussion board is to express individual opinions, thoughts and feelings after all! We're not a hive mind and that's how it should be

I'm not a fan of the not so subtle "fan service" that Wayforward tend to include in their works... ... but that always gave me a good laugh every time I saw it in Pirate's Curse The S3D effect in general is very well done in that game! Especially on the character portraits! Very very impressive! : peace:

Woah! A real bumper week this week! And the NTSC version of Kirby 64 too! So I can actually buy this one! Weird that they're not making Yoshi's Touch n' Go available to purchase yet. Hope that they don't end up padding out a week's releases just to release it on its own... Kirby Squeak Squad/Mouse Attack is nice too, even though it's one of the weaker games in the series.

Not unexpected. You're pulling off completely unrealistic shots and the game is designed for button controls; translating that to motion controls feels awful (as New Play Control Mario Power Tennis proved)

Watching the Treehouse Live footage... yeah it's basically a new Persona game. There's pretty much nothing of SMT or FE in this outside of a few references here and there (and a Splatoon one as well for some strange reason ). About the only thing really separating this from Persona is the Gamepad usage (where it basically acts as a mobile phone) and the fact that the dungeons seem to have some actual puzzles and some semblance of level design this time (which instantly makes it MUCH more interesting to me!) -

I don't think it's a stretch to say that Sony's way of announcing games was much more effective than Nintendo's this year. Not even close. Sure Sony's major reveals might be no more than smoke and mirrors of things that don't even exist yet, but it works; time and time again. E3 is all about building hype for the future. Even if the announcements themselves are ultimately hollow, if they succeed at building hype then they've done the job. Nintendo's strategy of only announcing stuff that's coming out within the year was clearly a bust. They really should've shown a trailer for Zelda U, even if it was a BS CG trailer. -
