PC version is apparently broken right now, so no fun for me yet (supposedly the current Full Game up on Steam is actually a demo)
-
Expected outcome is expected. And it's still just as scummy now as it was then. They were very obviously stringing people along with claims of it running perfectly fine. Absolutely shameful of them to pretend that everything is hunkeydory and then all of a sudden, near when launch is coming and the Wii U hardware is struggling in terms of sales, oh NOW it's suddenly riddled with issues (even worse when they basically admitted that they could get it running better but just don't think it's worth the effort with the low sales predicted for the Wii U version - that's just a great big middle finger to every Wii U owner who funded your game!) Considering its crowdfunding origins (a whole year went by with a Wii U version being promised as well!), the lack of transparency involved here is shocking. Even if they announced a sequel at the launch of the next console, day and date with all other versions, even with extra content/better performance promised than the other consoles etc, I wouldn't encourage anyone to trust their word at all. If you can't be transparent with your crowd funding, then quite frankly, your word doesn't deserve to be taken at face value at all.

At the very least, it'll be a neat novelty to own I'm sure. Probably will end up being one of the rarest Wii U games too.

Err... http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wiiu/adnj/info/index.html Well that's... interesting! It looks like they're releasing a PC version of the multiplayer mode as a standalone F2P game! (Single player mode is Wii U exclusive though). They're letting Valhalla publish it themselves, but are promoting it on the game's main site. Nintendo... allowing a PC game to be released... wow. Been a long, LONG time since that happened last! Perhaps they did this so that the few Wii U owners who actually buy this game will have someone to play with?

Same. You often hear some really unexpected ones that make you just suddenly go "oh!" It's a nice feeling and it makes it feel a bit more personal
-
Aaaaannnndddd mine! 3,000 stars was a much lower price than I thought it would be

That really was a fantastic video. Very rare that I can say anything good about Gamespot, but that is legitimately a fantastic tribute video! Does a great job of summarising his vision of the industry.

Huh, this may be of interest to some... http://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/wiiu-eshop/super_street_fighter_ii_turbo_revival_gba Seems that Capcom actually went in and fixed a bug that plagued the original western release of SSFTR; whereby you weren't able to fight Akuma at the end of the game like you were supposed to (you could do this in the Japanese version, but a bug was introduced into the western release that crashed the game whenever this happened). Well that's nice to see them actually go back and fix that mistake (shame that it of course lacks multiplayer though)

Ahh, that's one of my favourite episodes. Brilliant stuff (and the reaction when Arink finally manages to get the orange balloons is priceless ) Oh and @S\.C\.G's collection is very very impressive! Wish I had a boxed copy of Earthbound! (Or even a Ness Amiibo for that matter )

It's a sad scene being set. It's almost like the weather is representitive of the mood surrounding Nintendo and the world around it
-
Yeah it was really well fitting. It was also pretty fitting that in the last race, me and Simon sat in first and second just constantly holding a banana throughout most of it! Thanks for Playing guys! : peace:

IN!! I'll be IwataCubed tonight! Gotta make sure the Kirby Iwata wins!

I actually just played Strider 2 for the first time myself not long ago (it's out on the PSN now for those looking to get in on the action ) and I don't see why it gets the huge amount of hate it does; I mean, sure it's not perfect (the way that the levels are broken up and segmented by loading screens does definately break the flow a bit) but I think it's a pretty solid sequel myself. Level design is generally pretty solid and flows well; with less confusing layouts and pointless dead ends than the original. I also dig the 2.5D look myself as well. Oftentimes it doesn't work so well, but in this case I think they pulled it off nicely!

You know what? He's not far off actually (PIT is still much better of course). Pokepark is a surprisingly decent little game! It's much better than you'd first think. For all of those pining for a game where you get to run around as Pokemon and fight like in the anime, give it a shot! It's a fun little game, if very repetitive; play it in short bursts. It won't blow you away or anything, but it's surprisingly decent. Heh, same. Always loved the arcades, always was the number 1 thing I'd look forward to when going to the seaside! Shame that they're so rare these days (there are a few really good ones still if you are willing to travel a bit - Heart of Gaming here in London is particularly good!)
-
Looks like that wasn't everything! eShop just updated and alongside Mario & Luigi Partners in Time and Pokepark Wii, we also have Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo Revival (GBA) and Final Fight One (GBA) as well this week! Well that was a nice surprise

Kirby's Adventure is no doubt the best place for a newcomer to the series. It's the game that set the template for the rest of the mainline series that followed. It has a remake on the GBA called Nightmare in Dreamland that is absolutely excellent (and was personally the first Kirby game I ever played myself), but I'd probably still go for the NES game first. You'll appreciate how the series progressed moreso if you play the original NES version first I reckon and it's different enough from its remake that it's well worth playing in its own right. Almost the entire series is available on the 3DS/Wii U eShop now (the only ones missing now are Kirby Power Paintbrush, Kirby Mass Attack, Kirby Superstar Ultra and Kirby's Tilt N' Tumble - but they'll probably come before long); so catching up on the series is easy peasy these days

I've had to leave to go off to work, but our 24 hour Kirby Livestream still has 5 hours left to go. Glen-i is currently having to man it alone, but hopefully should be joined by some company shortly. It's looking a bit tight for time, but I still think it might just barely be possible to get it all done within the remaining time; even if Glen-i is betting against me ) A huge thank you to everyone who tuned in to watch and donate (@kav82, @S\.C\.G as well, who kindly donated to Cancer Research UK, played through Kirby 64 alongside us till the wee hours of the morning and even put out a front page news article on the main site for us! You're a legend! : peace: Anyway, feel free to tune in during the last 5 hours and share your favourite Nintendo/Iwata memories with us! (or even just skim through the live stream archive for some choice funny moments - there's plenty of failure throughout; I swear that I'm not normally THAT bad at Kirby's Adventure! :p ). There may also be some surprise game appearances that you would not expect
-
Thanks guys. It was all really slapdash (I've never actually made a custom stream in OBS with live banners, backgrounds and semi-interactive stuff before; was kind of a nightmare trying to figure out how the hell to make it work ) and last minute, so I'm glad that we've had a minimum of problems so far! Of course, we haven't gotten round to try switching consoles yet... That'll be fun I'm sure!
-
Once more, just in case anyone here fancies celebrating with us...
-
Me and Glen-i are doing a 24 hour charity livestream of (most) of the mainline Kirby series, in honor of Iwata's passing! Come tune in at some point! (and maybe we can rack up a few donations for Cancer Research UK as well while we're at it!) There may be surprises along the way too (and pizza. but only for us, not for you :p - Maybe one day someone will invent a way of sharing pizza through the internet!) BTW, apologies in advance if we run into any problems during the livestream - this is my first time using OBS (and getting it working at all was a total nightmare!!), so expect some fun video streaming problems at some point

Wonder if they'll do something special for him in Super Mario Maker's credits? That game, of all of Nintendo's upcoming titles, seems the most fitting for a lifetime tribute of sorts. A means of passing the creative torch to a new generation; especially as it acts as an approachable way for many many people to get their first real taste of game and level design. Seems only right.
-
Gamexplain did a good tribute video in honour of him. Would be nice if we could get together to make something like this here on the forums. I'm not the best when it comes to video editing, but I can do basic stuff and capture footage of just about any game (outside of DS/3DS).

Words can't express the contribution he has made to the industry. He was a true visionary. I had a feeling that his health was worse than was being let on, the poor guy was working himself into the ground The most important thing to note in this case that his primary concern would've been trying to secure a path for Nintendo's future. With Nintendo the company being caught in choppy waters in the past few years and with many assuming a bleak future, he no doubt wanted most of all to lay a solid foundation for its future before he had to go. Remember that he was the man who continued to take cuts in pay and take the full brunt of outside criticism and attack personally, without allowing anything to happen to his staff. He managed to carry out his tenure without letting a single member of staff go through redundancy; that is one hell of a legacy as CEO and a true testament to his character. In that sense, he certainly succeeded. While he of course would've wanted to see the company complete its transition to its new future (with Qol, mobile, the new entertainment initiatives etc) with his own eyes, I reckon that with the positivity that came of his new vision of Nintendo's future, he would've been at peace as he left this world Thank you for everything Iwata. May you find peace as your friends and family continue to bring happiness and joy to the world for countless years to come; thanks to the future that you have given them.

Nice haul. Here's hoping we get the real thing soon on the VC... If it did ever get an official translation on the VC, it would be cool if someone eventually found a way to extract the ROM and used it to make repros. That's what happened with Monster World 4 and Ironclad when they finally got official English localised releases on the Wii VC

Namco's dev kit PCs still have Floppy Disc drives!? How old are they!?
