  1. You really can trace Golden Sun's lineage back to these games can't you?
  2. Looks like it’s happening! Oh my! A New Challenger Enters The Ring!!
  3. Lookin' good! I especially like the Super Mario Gameboy stand and its placement! Also like how fairly minimalistic it all looks, despite the massive collection. Has a nice homely feel to it! Reminds me a lot of my childhood, which I suppose is part of the point of a retro setup! Only thing that strikes me as a bit odd is the large amount of space surrounding the TV. I'd suggest either looking for a bigger CRT, or perhaps investing in some ambient lights to place behind it? Maybe even a black poster behind it to give the impression of a larger play space? Good job mate!
  4. They are generally cheaper by and large. Even mainland Europe is usually cheaper than the UK. The UK gets screwed almost all the time on pricing.
  5. I’m pretty certain that’s gonna happen. MK8dx already runs at 60FPS in splitscreen, so its already good to go as far as VR Rendering goes. Looking forward to the beautiful motion sickness when you get hit by a banana!
  6. Those are... not the choices I was expecting! Pretty interesting selection actually! Excitebike 64 is available on the Wii U VC BTW, in case you don't already own it! I think I'm gonna vote for Game #3. It deserves more love and respect than it gets at the moment, so it's the perfect candidate I reckon!
  7. Makes me think of Paper Mario: Sticker Star more than anything else
  8. Well that came out of nowhere! Does this mean that we can start seeing the return of S3D support on Switch? S3D support for SEGA AGES on Switch! Time to bring it back M2!
  9. I think you've basically already done that for him...
  10. I know we’re beating a dead horse with Anthem at this point; but by God is it all really funny. You honestly couldn’t make this up!
  11. It’s still lost revenue to them. Even if the winners would’ve had no intention of buying anything from the eShop ever again (which let’s face it, is a pretty unlikely prospect), the prize credit can still be put towards renewing their NSO membership (which they would’ve definitely have had to pay for to get access to Tetris 99 to begin with). It’s a lot easier for them to handle the legal side of things if they’re giving out eShop credit rather than cash though; especially for a worldwide completion (prize laws can get VERY complicated, even in a single country; never mind internationally!). So it’s a sensible approach.
  12. Yes it is a good game; very ahead of its time too. It and its sequel were basically the prototype for Metroid Prime (Retro Studios was founded by the team that worked on Turok 1, 2 & Rage Wars). While most of the old team from Iguana would end up getting the boot not long after the studio was founded; you can absolutely see a clear lineage between the Turok games and Prime 1. The Turok games actually follow a sort of Metroidvania like structure and feature a LOT of the elements that would later end up in Prime; like the heavy focus on platforming (including the head tilt-shift as you jump!) and exploration, or the way you can shoot birds out of the sky, or the way that you can trick enemies into fighting each other! Notably, Mark Pacini (the director of Prime 1-3) was one of the people who originally came from Iguana and ended up staying with the company; at least until his attempted coup (which eventually led to his exile, the bringing in of Michael Kelbaugh and the creation of both DKCR and DKCTF). It’s a fascinating piece of history and one of the most important and influential FPS games ever made. It’s still well worth playing today, but you absolutely need a guide; because you’re gonna inevitably get completely lost without it. Imagine an open world Metroid Prime and you’re on the right lines.
  13. Pretty cool to see them giving out prizes; especially for just playing the game normally. A €9,999 prize pool (per region?) is pretty decent for a free (not “free”) game too!
  14. Japan gets Fire Emblem as well BTW!
  15. Thank God for him. And thank God for this thread! It's about time we got some good ol' fashioned fun negativity going up in 'ere! As for this week's vid? He's bang on the money. Pubilshers have no-one to blame but themselves for stacking all of their titles together and choking the life out of them. Ironically, EA tried to snuff out Apex Legends using Anthem; just like how they killed Titanfall 2 on purpose using Battlefield 1, in order to be able to buy out Respawn, yet it ended up working the other way around this time. A lovely bit of divine justice; not so fun when it happens to you now is it EA? Time and time again, publishers are sending their games to die against each other; even where there are outright massive open gaps in the yearly schedule that their titles could slot neatly into. And let's not even get into the massive gaping chasm that is always left on Nintendo platforms, begging to be filled by their titles... They deserve everything they get. You reap what you sow.
  16. I'm guessing that there will likely be a penalty for switching between Attack and Defence stances... ... probably either having to miss a turn, or to have to equip a special item (thus giving up your item slot, Mega Evo or Z Crystal) I'm also guessing that Aegislash will likely gain a new ability that lets it change stances whenever it wants without this penalty (But will probably have to sacrifice some of its base stats; because otherwise it’ll be as broken as Mega Rayquaza lol!) So this new ability, that would be unique to Aegislash, would let you change stances without having to lose a turn or waste your item slot, but it also cuts down your base attack/defence stat down by around 30%. Aegislash was always bound to get special treatment in this game anyway. I mean, hell, the game is even named after him!
  17. Oh snap!! https://www.resetera.com/threads/what-mechanic-change-s-will-pokemon-sword-and-shield-bring.103187/page-2#post-18500847 I reckon this guy just sussed it! Didn't realise this about the Japanese logos! (Why didn't I think to check them!?) Having Offensive and Defensive positions that you can switch between during battle sounds like an awesome idea!! Would also fit amazingly well with the Rotation Battle format! (Please make a return!!)
  18. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/03/random_this_local_newspaper_seems_to_think_pokemon_gun_is_real Well that's hilarious!
  19. See, that's how I feel. I love the hardware, but I don't love the software lineup... yet... This year looks like it'll be the point where Nintendo's first party lineup finally really starts taking off though (after the release of Super Mario Maker 2 in June). Let's hope that's the case!
  20. And throughout those two years, Nintendo's own first party lineup has gotten off to a remarkably slow start (if you count Smash Ultimate and Mario Tennis Aces as Wii U ports; there are actually just as many Wii U ports as there are Switch exclusive titles - and that is counting the Labo titles individually, instead of lumping them together). While the 3rd party lineup is still not where it needs to be, it has been a rather remarkable turnaround from the Wii U (and even 3DS) days! Nobody could've imagined that we would've seen the likes of DOOM, Civilisation 6 and Diablo 3 hit the platform, but here we are! The indie game support is second to none as well! While it still isn't getting most new games day and date like it should be, and there are still some significant outliers on the platform (I'm looking at you Capcom!), it's a huge improvement over the past generation, and even the Wii! We're still far from a healthy ecosystem as far as retail games go (digital is fantastic though!), but it has still blown my expectations away nonetheless! As far as Nintendo's first party lineup goes? So far it has really reminded me of the first two years of the 3DS' life. Very slow, lacking in original first party releases and largely overshadowed by its predecessor during those first two years... ... but this year is looking to be enormously promising (past the absolutely dismal first half of the year!). If indeed 2019 does pan out as it looks like it will, we might be looking at a repeat of the 3DS' 2013 lineup once we get to the release of Super Mario Maker 2! If that does happen, and this is indeed the inflection point that I've really been waiting for, I'm gonna be one very happy little Nintendroid!
  21. It’s probably partially down to the fact that Nintendo no longer publish and fund all of Capcom’s western releases on their platforms. That stung Capcom hard...
  22. Yeah, this aint even an issue of manufacturing costs. They're simply doing it because 1, They think they can get away with it and 2, They fucking hate the Switch and everyone who owns one. Remember that Capcom's support of the Switch is done entierly begrudgingly.
  23. I guess that Capcom took the RE4 Merchant “I’ll buy it at a high price!” meme literally!
  24. Fire/Water/Grass is the sensible choice for the starter triad because it is easy for anyone to grasp. Plus Gen 6 already incorporated the Psychic/Dark/Fighting triad into the final evos of all three starters anyway; so that idea is not new.
  25. Finally got to watch the trailer... HOLY SHIT!! IT LOOKS TO BE AN ACTUAL, PROPER POKEMON GAME!!!!! It’s not Let’s Go!? It’s not Pokemon of the Wild!?!!?!? HALLEFUCKINGLULIAH!!!!! OMG!! It’s a proper sequel to Sun/Moon!! NO BULLSHIT!!! I’m so relieved!!! I’m so happy!! Pokemon isn’t dead after all!! And holy shit!! The visuals look AMAZING!! It looks to be exactly what I was hoping for!! How did Game Freak pull it off!? And it looks like real Pokemon gameplay is intact!! (From what little we can glean from the trailer). Pinch me! I must be dreaming!! Against all odds!!! Her wish came true! While it’s far too early to make a call on the really important stuff (level/game design, battle system, puzzle design, sidequests AKA, the actual gameplay stuff that matters); I am ENOURMOUSLY impressed by this trailer!! Game Freak have hit a home run with this trailer!! The game is officially on my radar!! There is hope for Pokemon again!! Now we’ve just gotta hope and pray that they’ve listened to the complaints about Gen 6 & 7... No more cutscenes every 5 seconds, fix the battle system game balance, bring back Rotation and Triple battles! Get rid of the incessant handholding and horribly stringent linearity! Give us level design that is interesting again! With interesting puzzles, world building, sidequests that actually matter!! From what little we’ve already seen, it looks enourmously promising! And no Genwunner pandering in sight!!! Let’s hope and pray that it brings back the glory days of Gen 4 & 5!! The fact that I can at least hope for that is a tremendous step forward!! I can actually get excited for a Pokemon game again!
