  1. Alphadream? ALPHADREAM!!! PLEASE NINTENDO!!
  2. Yup. The original System 16 version has only ever been re-released twice. Once on the Wii VC and once on 360 (as part of the SEGA Vintage Collection). Still, people pissed and whined about getting Gain Ground, despite it literally being the first time that the original System 24 version had ever been re-released; so I can only imagine people's reactions about getting Golden Axe
  3. Pro tip: All of the Ganon forms cannot actually kill you in one hit; no matter how much damage their attacks would normally do. You will always be left with 1/4 of a heart, no matter what. Abuse this like mad when fighting him. Hyrule Castle is actually pretty fun when done this way; it's basically like sneaking into Mordor and climbing up to Mount Doom in your underwear. It's by far the most fun way to play it!
  4. So the Pokemon Glimwood Tangle 24 hour livestream has just started... Hey @Serebii... I just want to tell you both good luck. We're all counting on you
  5. To be fair, fans would likely riot if they wasted another SEGA AGES slot on a game that they've re-released at least 3 dozen times. We don't need any more delays before getting to the obscure, the arcade, the Saturn and the Dreamcast games!
  6. Monster Hunter World doesn't actually keep track of the player's positioning accurately at all. It's all a clever trick of the eye; where it only keeps a rough estimate of the player's position within a given square radius of any given area (it also doesn't track smaller monster positions whatsoever), so it gives the game plenty of time to send over rough co-ordinates to the other players. If you've ever played a Monster Hunter game locally, you'd actually notice that your position on one players screen doesn't match up with another player's at all ( @Glen-i can vouch for this as we've played plenty of MH together locally and online and we've had plenty of laughs over killing phantom monsters or seeing another player fly away for no reason!). Super Kirby Clash can't get away with this however because of the exact positioning required from being a 2D platformer, and from being able to see all players/enemies at all times; nor can it get away with hiding the player positioning on other screens because of the need to sync up gameplay exactly. As such, it can't use the same tricks that MH does. Ironically, it would actually be easier to do if the game was 3D!
  7. It still has to keep track of the player's position, damage status and attack positioning like a traditional 2D platformer though; and it can't rely on predictive algorithm tricks like most other online games, because the inherent nature of its gameplay is unpredictable. It's not as bad as SMM2, where the players actually interact with each other and can jump off each other with 16ms/pixel perfect accuracy (which is basically like a worst-case-scenario with online play), but it's more akin to making a game like Super Smash Bros work online (which itself is much more difficult than a typical fighting game).
  8. It's because "simple" games like this are actually amongst the hardest to get working smoothly online; despite outward appearances... Your typical "complex" FPS', TPS', racing games etc are actually the easiest kinds of games to make work online; because they are perfect for predictive algorithms that can assume certain things, like player positioning. Platformers are actually incredibly difficult to make work smoothly online; which is why Super Mario Maker 2 is literally the first ever traditional platformer to have an online multiplayer mode (and predictably, it's a mess). And SNES/NES games were of course, never originally designed to work online, so they have to literally send button commads across the internet 60 times a second... Naturally, this is going to cause heavy lag.
  9. Good timing! What with the first game (Tant R) being included on the MD Mini! Looking forward to it
  10. Now you guys have no excuse to not experience the torture that is Ice Climbers: Super Mario Maker Edition in "co-op"
  11. I posted about this in the Switch Discussion thread, but damn... I'm still utterly livid about this news... Goddammit! HD development claims yet another victim Let's just hope and pray that Nintendo ends up absorbing the Alphadream staff, like they did for both Hudson and Flagship...
  12. https://gematsu.com/2019/10/mario-luigi-rpg-series-developer-alphadream-files-for-bankruptcy FUCK!!! This is horrible news I can’t believe that Nintendo is allowing this to happen!! They’ve been working with Alphadream for over 17 years!!! (23 if you consider that the core staff came from the original SMRPG team!) Surely they have to at least absorb the staff? SURELY!? COME ON!! You bailed out the Hudson and the Flagship staff and absorbed them! You owe the guys at Alphadream that much!!!
  13. Bit disappointed that The Switch Effect didn’t rub off on DQ11s a bit more; but I suppose our expectations were just too high. At the end of the day, despite the nice additions, it is still ultimately a port of a 1 year old (2 years old in Japan) PS4 game.
  14. Well, we know what that alarm feature is for now!
  15. He’s back! And ready to make your brain feel old! An official Switch Stylus has also been announced (looks basically like the one that came with SMM2, but without the branding). Retailing for 864 JPY (about £6-7). The game comes out on 27/12/19 in Japan (so that finally answers the question about what game Nintendo has lined up for December...) Bring on the DS resurrection!
  16. The NES controller would be useless for MM11 because it uses the four face buttons and L/R, but the SNES controller would work perfectly! BTW: If you already have a NES/SNES Classic Controller (from the NES/SNES classic consoles or the Wii), you might actually want to consider the 8bitdo GBros adapter instead... https://www.amazon.co.uk/8Bitdo-Wireless-Nintendo-GameCube-Controllers/dp/B07JLF9PVG Lets you use your existing Wii classic controllers or GCN controllers on Switch; the buttons on the device itself also act as a Capture button and a Home button too! I've got one of these and use it for my existing NES/SNES classic controllers; works perfectly!
  17. DEVELOPMENT HAS FINALLY FINISHED ON SHOVEL KNIGHT!!!
  18. Uh oh... The EU version of the MD Mini does NOT have access to the US NTSC ROMS! While the PAL games are being run in 60hz... this does mean that the EU version is officially the worst version of the system.
  19. Very impressive! Likely using the same IR camera tech as in the right Joy-con I suspect.
  20. I think that, unlike the 3DS version, the 2D mode in this Switch release is actually treated as its own different game entierly; so parts of the game don't actually match up with its 3D counterpart. So that's probably how they got around the issue and stopped players from getting stuck.
  21. https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Untitled-Goose-Game-1437769.html Huge 150 game sale on the eShop right now!
  22. I think he'd sooner move back to MK8 on Wii U before resorting to that
  23. Oh shit... https://www.nintendo.co.jp/character/mario/collection/search.html#?g=series&v=mariokart Mario Kart Tour is considered a mainline game and the direct sequel to MK8dx (note how the arcade titles are completely absent). Yes, this is indeed Mario Kart 9. This probably explains why NIntendo EPD have put out such few original titles on Switch over the past two years... They've probably pumped the majority of their EPD staff into mobile development and have likely been prioritising mobile game development over Switch
  24. Holy Jesus! That's insane! That'd cost you £60 for a single year, with microtransaction hell on top of that! For a single player only mobile Mario Kart!? Nintendo are utterly bonkers! This game is gonna crash and burn!
  25. I completely agree with the complaints regarding the box art. It's completely misleading, on purpose. S-E knew what they were doing when they made a 1-1 replica of the original boxart with no changes; implying that it's a remake of the full original game. It's scummy and they rightfully should be called out on it. You're absolutely bang on with the music though! It sounds utterly phenomenal! Uematsu knows how to make a Final Fantasy really sing and I can't wait to hear the whole soundtrack!
