  1. And I really hope Belgium can do it. :P Really want them to go through, but to be honest I think it's going to be Wales that will win tonight's game... Our defence (or lack of it) is going to be our downfall I think.
  2. No worries! I'm gonna try and get Fierce_LiNk to donate as well at some point! :)

I've seen some of the pictures you took, there are some amazing views out there! Keep it up and best of luck with the rest of the walk! :D

  3. This entire referendum seems to have simply been set up for politicians' personal power struggles... The Labour party is tearing itself apart while a pre-planned coup is taking place on Corbyn, while the Tories are fighting for the top position and stabbing each other in the back for it. This country needs a big overhaul of the two main parties, they just can't be trusted anymore. If people vote for the Tories again in the next general election after this farce, then they honestly deserve the shitstorm that is coming our way...
  4. If that is Conor Burns then I doubt much will happen as he was for Leave as well... Really don't like him, but there is no way to vote him out with the current system. -__-;
  5. I kinda stopped watching after half time and started playing Tropico 5... time better spent than watching this game. Felt England had already lost it, and I was right. :P You can all just support Belgium now, they have some decent English football league players I've been told.
  6. This referendum seems to have given some people the illusion that it's okay now to be openly racist and (verbally) attack foreigners living here. One of my Dutch friends posted this on Facebook today:
  7. That's amazing! Congrats! Very jealous, especially that you're going to Disney World! I've been wanting to go for years, maybe one day we'll have saved up enough for it! Enjoy it! I'm sure the kids will love it.
  8. Great post @Ashley, sums up my thoughts exactly. I'm still very upset about all this, and if I had the option of moving countries, I probably would (darn you Jim for not speaking Dutch :P ). It doesn't help at all seeing Leave voters say they regret it now and that they didn't think their protest vote would count for anything... it just proves that this country was not ready for this referendum, with most of the people not sure what exactly they were voting for and what was at stake. Now we will have to move on and hope that everything will turn out okay. Hopefully the other member states will be willing to set up some decent trade deals etc., though this will take years. Hoping people will take note of all that's happened and remember this for the next general election and vote for change (though not with UKIP, thank you very much).
  9. I am really concerned about this. We don't have our house yet but put an offer down which was accepted (just waiting for the vendors to find a place). Now I am worried about the mortgage rates going up and it possibly becoming too expensive for us to afford our house... especially if wages might get negatively affected too at some point in the future. :/
  10. I'm seeing a lot of scared and uncertain posts on Facebook by my fellow EU migrants living in the UK. Everyone is wondering what will happen with EU migrants living here, if we will be allowed to stay or if special rules will apply. They might not kick us out (yet), but I do think things are going to become a lot more difficult for people to keep living and working here. Visas might be required, more paperwork will be involved, people will be forced to get British citizenship (which is stupidly expensive)... I imagine a lot of employers will not want to bother with all this either, especially if it is going to cause more hassle for them. I've already seen people mention that their work is telling them their offices will likely move to the continent now after this result. That's hundreds/thousands of jobs that could/will be lost.
  11. I'm so sorry to hear about your dad @Shorty. Like people said, would you be able to get compassionate leave? Or maybe even work from home/your family's home so you can still work but be closer to your dad? Might be worth discussing with your employer. *hugs* Today has been a pretty shitty day for me, for various reasons. First of all I couldn't sleep at all last night because of the referendum. Basically just stared at my phone all night, watching the results come in and crying my eyes out over it. As a result, I now have a massive headache and feel like a zombie. I also had an appointment with the dentist for a checkup, and basically got told I will need to get a crown fitted on a tooth that seems to be beyond repair (they tried a year ago but it's just gone bad again, giving me some slight gum infection). A crown will either cost me £235 for a silver one or £500 for a white one... not the type of money I want to be spending right now when we are buying a house. She said the only other option would be root canal treatment I think, but she would have to refer me as she can't do it and that would cost more than a £1000!
  12. I really should've taken out Euros before this whole referendum... Think I am going to spend today crying in a corner somewhere. Fuck this shit.
  13. London might be Remain but I am not sure about the South... so far it doesn't look in favour of Remain.
  14. I don't think it's going to help. Seems that the majority in England (and Wales) are voting out. Scotland doesn't have enough people/voters to counter that. Especially as turnout in Scotland seems to have been very low.
  15. I can't sleep because of this... I'm just crying looking at the results so far... :'(
  16. The poor will only be worse off if we leave... The whole thing about migrants undercutting wages is a shitty reason to vote Leave. It is not the fault of migrants, it's the fault of employers not offering decent wages. The government should be making sure that the minimum wage is enforced, and that the minimum wage is actually enough for people to live on (or start enforcing the living wage, as that is more acceptable than the minimum wage).
  17. Yeah that sounds like you may have messed up. :P Marriage and children are in this game, so if you marry someone, a new mission will show up where you can recruit a child. But not sure it would give you enough characters for the rest of the game (I'm not very far into it myself, so can't tell you how many characters would be best to advance).
  18. Is that real or a joke? Would that have been one of the reasons behind the delays I wonder?
  19. This post just made me realise that this is the first home console Zelda to be released since @Fierce_LiNk and I have been living together... That's a long time since the last game! We'll have to figure out how to play it without spoiling it for each other, when we do decide to get the game...
  20. Better not go to Belgium then as it is 3 kisses there. :P I think for me it depends on the setting and who I'm greeting. If it is a professional setting, it will of course just be a handshake. If it's people I am meeting for the first time, it will usually just be a 'Hi' and giving them a little wave or whatever. If I know them quite well, it seems to depend on the people. My Dutch friends get two kisses (sometimes 3 when I get confused). English friends will get a hug if we are close enough. If not then it's just the 'Hi' + wave. It gets confusing and awkward to be honest, cause some people are instant huggers/kissers even if you've only just met. So they lean in but you're not sure what they are going to do. :P
  21. I'm worried about how many people are actually voting Leave because of xenophobia and racism (even if they try to hide it). Reading comments on news articles and Facebook highlights just how many people blame "immigrants" or Brussels for their problems, when really those problems are caused by their own government, by austerity measures, by the economy going down the drain because of the banking crisis... It makes me very sad reading these comments, and to be honest, a bit scared too. When people ask me where I'm from, I'm worried I'll get judged badly or treated differently simply because I'm from the EU. The thing is that I didn't come here to steal any jobs (my first job here required you to speak Dutch, don't think many English could do that), I didn't come here to take your benefits (never had any in my life), I didn't come here to use your NHS (never been seen by a GP or been to the hospital in the UK) or take up spaces in schools (don't plan to have children). I only came here because my other half just happens to be English and I speak the language, so it made sense for me to move. And there are lots of people like me here, moving here to be with the one they love, or moving to get into the industry they want a career in. It's difficult not to take this whole debate personal, but I find it impossible not to, there is just so much at stake, so many lives that will be affected. And I feel personally attacked by some of the comments I've seen online and in the news, just making me very sad, angry and scared.
  22. It's difficult to explain, but by flat I mean that it doesn't pop out. The colours are very diluted/pastel-like, as if the image has been overexposed and all the contrast is gone. I don't know, it bothered me a bit. Maybe it was just in the section I watched and it gets better in other places, I don't know. The gameplay seemed alright and it's good to see they have taken ideas from other games (like the food, picking up weapons, changing outfits etc.), but I got bored after a few minutes. Hope that doesn't happen when actually playing the game (but maybe I got annoyed because the girls playing it highly annoyed me, urghhh, those voices).
  23. Feeling a bit underwhelmed by E3 this year, didn't really see an awful lot of games that are must haves for me I think. The Sony conference was great, but most of those games I probably won't touch. Looking forward to Horizon and The Last Guardian though. But I have no interest in games like Resident Evil (never played one, too scary for me). God of War looked great, but I've never played them so not sure if it's my type of game. Detroit looks interesting, but it's one I'll probably watch Jim play through. Zelda has so far not excited me at all. I'd be interested in playing it (because it's Zelda), but watching the trailer and a bit of the gameplay didn't make me want to go out there and buy it now (if we had that option). The art style looks very flat to me by the way, like they just put a white filter over it and turned down the contrast. It makes it difficult to make out any sort of detail. Why have individual blades of grass if you can barely tell they are there? :S Zelda used to be my favourite franchise out there, and I'm hoping this game will deliver. But I'll probably hold off until some reviews or something. Anyway, hoping some more games get shown on the floors today, but not holding my breath. :P
  24. The main thing that concerns me about the Leave campaign is that they haven't actually said what their plans are, what they will do or what will happen... You're stepping into the great unknown and hoping something good will be on the other side. One thing that I want to know for example, is how travel will be affected. Will I still be able to go visit my family with my Belgian ID card? Will my family still be able to easily visit me without needing visas or something? If there are changes, then I imagine this will increase the waiting times for security, meaning traveling will take even longer than it does now.
  25. Such a shameful performance by Belgium. Didn't think we would do great, but this is just terrible play. They just don't play as a team, fumbling around with the ball as if they haven't played an international game before.
