You see next to your avatar you have Settled In? That basically describes how many posts you have made. For regular I think you have to have posted at least 50 or is it 100 posts.

I don't follow 'Dork's view. I really look forward to getting a hands-on with this as I think it has the potential to be something interesting. I think there is another reason why it's downhill though. To do the tricks in the regular THPS games you have to be mashing some serious buttons sometimes and I just don't think that work with teh Wii controller as it will be difficult to flick the controller around so fast. I see this as being more of a Trickstyle kind of game (not that that was great) but as long as it has complicated track constructions lik SSX3 then I'm already smiling. Also I don't mind them going for a more stylised look cos it's great for movement at speed, just like in JSR. I don't care if this is nothing like THPS because I just want it to be fun.

Problem is that I want to pre-order it from the release venue for the UK. But we won't find out where that will be until less than a month before hand. I'm guessing Virgin on Oxford street again as the DS launch event looked very nice. But then again the HMV release for Nintendogs was also really fun, much more there for the fans.

It's a bit of both but mostly I think it's guests. I also second the "only mods creating threads idea" but as Colin suggested, there are some problems with blocking guests. But at the end of the day all news will eventually go on the front page so I guess guests just have to wait. Would we really be doing the site bad by blocking guests though? I mean c'mon.. registration is free. :shrugs:

Oh I'm going to the opening even if I have the money! Went to the DS release and the Nintendogs release (THAT was awesome!). If I go to the UK release though we should definitely meet up. I'd like to have a R-E photo, play some LAN games and generally soak up a hole bunch of Wii love.

As far as I know, it's the big translator program in you computer. It was introduced so that games and programs would be more easily compatible with a whole range of different hardwares. The more up to date your DirectX is, the better your computer can talk to the graphics card and so on. For the newest graphics card it may mean you need a new version of DirectX before you can use some of the features on it. I'm sure someone can explain it better.

OK I'm sure that there are lots of people who study creative and arty subjects a plenty around here. Wanted to kick off a thread about artists to exchange ideas and discover new interesting sources. Maybe some pics too. Please stick to visual art and try and keep it Fine Arty as opposed to graphics design and so forth. Been studying a lot of Gaudi at the moment and this man totally has my number. He has completely changed the way I look at architecture as he was unforgiving about his work, if a little crazy. He was one of the few people to really explore organic forms in his work, reducing the prominance of the structural and more functional forms in the buildings. This gave him great freedom, especially as his style comes from Art Nouveau which doesn't take well to straight lines and sharp corners. Many buildings display ridges along rooftops that look like spines and sets of chimneys come together into foot-like formations. He also had an incredible attention to detail, creating both the interior and exterior. Apparently he followed an old Moorish tradition of decorating all of the surfaces in a space. He often did this using his signature smashed mosaic style. Here's his Wiki link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonio_Gaudi

Name A Game You Should Play Before Wii.

True. Sorry about that... a little tired at the mo. Think I'll spend some much needed time exploring every corner of WW. I'm sure there are a few villagers somewhere I haven't annoyed yet! -
Please don't be so naive (sp?). Not to being mean but these are all buisinesses. People will look at the PS3 and say it has power, HD, BluRay, a good reputation (although undeserved) AND a motion sensitive controller. Nobody would stop to say that Nintendo's controller works that much better. If Sony does steal Ninty's thunder then there could be some serious problems. But as I said, no spooking everyone. Sony doesn't like untested ideas, as said before and I'm sure that they will have been trying to pass of the Wiimote as a gimmick. Don't forget though that Sony is Nintendo's Dreamworks (who are out to ruin Disney) and they will only be happy if the old dog is dead. Sure they can be happy about the PS2 generation but the PSP is not looking that great a success for them. They are in serious financial deficit and they need BluRay to win. Sony are in quite a desperate situation in some terms.

If this does happen then the controllers will still be uncomparable. There is no way that Sony has had the time to develop and copyright technology similar to the Wii. So the Wii will definitely be a better controller. Only thing Sony could even hope for is the same accelerometer control as in the Nunchuck. But from Sony's attitude I still think this is unlikely. Stop spooking the cattle ppl.

Echo the Dolphin. It is just a lovely game, if a little frustrating and hard. Beautiful, serene and some marvelous design. Great music. C'mon Wii Echo! -

Beanstalk anyone? Reminds me of climbing up to Midgar Plate in FF7. -
Quote of the week!

So when you say DirectX10 features you mean features which are also in DirectX10 rather ones created entirely for DX10? Of course it's a new chip! Just because it's architecture is based in flipper does not make it the same chip. Nintendo don't invest that much in hardware because, unlike the other 2 companies, they spend their time helping optimise it properly, so they get more out of what they have. That's how they keep their hardware costs down. They're designing a console rather than a gloryfied PC. They know where it's at.

Got my brother the Mario Bros. dual screen one a few xmases ago. Cost me about £30 which I thought was quite a good deal.

Zelda: Twilight Princess Discussion (SPOILERS: BEWARE)

The two lumberjacks from LTTP, King Zora (cross-eyed and all) from LTTP, animal people from LA, cooler even more sarcastic Gerudo Warriors. Quite liked the Bomber Gang from MM too. I'm happy though cos we already know there are MONKEYS! I really liked the 2 from MM. The dark fairy was cool! -
To be honest, not that I know about the technical stuff very much, I doubt Nintendo would use something like DirectX. They always design from the ground up and they KNOW what a console needs (bar more RAM on the N64!). Proprietry libraries I think are more likely.

Hehe... it looks really fun. A see a good sense of humour in there.

If you go onto Codemasters' website there is no section for the Wii. There are ones for the DS and for the GBA but no Wii. So it's a no!

Got my friend to play on my Virtual Boy yesterday. Response: "Awesome! But ow..." I with Nintendork, it's just too far off. Plus not exactly a blue ocean friendly is it? If you had a headset it would be bigger than the console! The only thing I could wish for would be projected images but that ain't gonna happen, I think. Does anyone think that the 3rd secret is really something to do with the output?

From what I remember ROT13 is just a technical description for a code using two alphabet discs. Just rotate 13 places.

Just had a browse through and there is so much weird stuff in that document. At the beginning it is all the normal electronics stuff you would expect but then it starts veering off. But I've come to realise that most of the stuff in the list is just all the things that Nintendo can officially sell with the Wii stamp on it, it would seem. Some that I found: pedometer - No serious. It could make a nice piece of merchandise I guess. loads of manual labour gear - for the internal Nintendo team? Bit of branded kit perhaps? But strangely I saw no mention of a watch in there at all. And just for Stocka, there are a few references to glasses and sunglasses. Take it as you will.

Zelda: Twilight Princess Discussion (SPOILERS: BEWARE)

I would like different swords/tunics/weapons in general that have quite different qualities, as opposed to just getting a better version. You know like Samus' beam weapons, some were more effective in certain circumstances but all generally about the same power (OK maybe not but you get the idea). This would mean that you could play Link in quite a few different ways. Hey do you think there will be dark world items for Wolf Link? Get stuff like Iron Claws and stuff? -
DMX I love you, that's the most interesting potential Wii function we have seen yet! Got a link?
