Well hey; he keeps it up, he gets infractions, innit. We're not going to retroactively dole out infractions. You see something you disagree with then report it.

That was awesome!

So I've just been sorting out some travel insurance. When I went to Oz for a year I didn't bother getting any at all, and my girlfriend was just appalled at the concept. So I thought I'd be sensible for my next shorter trip. Started off looking at Lloyds, whom I bank with... and they basically quoted me £122 for a single-trip insurance. Which sounded fucking insane. If they had said it was, like, £70 then I probably would've just assumed that was a normal price and paid for it. But £122? fuck that. Comparison site time. Basically, I have never had any kind of insurance for anything ever. I went to Oz with basically zero possessions, and they have this reciprocal health care system, and I was staying with family, so I figured I'd be fine. And I work with regards to insurance, so I know it's important to make sure I actually understand what I'm paying for, and to be open and honest during application etc, etc. Do you guys have insurance for stuff? House insurance? Contents? Do you know what your insurance doesn't cover, and if so - why did you think it would be ok not to have that cover? /grownupthread

I love the sound of the 'murder mystery'stuff. I'd imagine that the pacing for such a thing might be off-tilt with the running of the game? Got a holiday to Boston coming up so strongly considering re-buying AC3 for PC !

Wii had one expired red infraction. Oh and three non-expired ones. Yah. 3-strikes. Waiting for a red to put this version of Wii in another castle as well.

Not seen Rocky Balboa yet. Loved the first 5 films in an "I know they're not really all great movies" way, but I can't see how this film is doing much new :/

Just went off to read that Unity, patchiness aside, is just flawed game-wise. What's the deal with the story now? The AC:2 games (and AC:3) had some mind-blowing epic bits to do with the 'modern day' storyline, but what with desmond's situation, I don't know how the newer games addressed this?

The Rare bundle... has... Blast Corps...!! What happened with Assassin's Creed since Assassin't Creed 3? Not played any since then (not even black flag).

That's crazy! Would you then say that the show still has 5 years to catch up on, or has the show run faster than the comic with its stories?

I was the passer-by

Comic book readers: How far ahead would you say the comic is? If you could estimate, that is. Would you say that the comic probably has 2 or 3 seasons more content than the show? Think back to when TWD started airing and where the comic was back then. Did we catch up to that yet, or is that still to come?

Today was stupid. basically we had a meeting this morning for a new deadline of weds end-of-day. I was the only one able to do most of the work, but SHE said she'd do x and y, even though a and b would've been do-able without me. Turns out management had an adjustment on the deadline at midday, and told HER to let me know, She told me at 5pm. She also requested that I email her a and b. She went home. So I spoke with mangement all "wtf" and, thankfully, they believed me. I gave them a and b an a shitty version of x and y by 6:20, but the other stuff they wanted was just not possible (due to previously mentioned shit data). Turns out they were sitting on this deadline for 3 weeks before telling me I could've done half this shit --- or all this shit if they had given me proper disclosure or warning. Instead it got to the point where I could do nothing but tell them about how they should've told me sooner! We've got an extension though.. for 9:30am...!! Which will make zero difference. But get this. I've basically been forced to give inaccurate data even though I've previously said it's inaccurate data. I've been stitched up. Can't explain it well, but what I said i'd do requires someone in IT giving stats that we don't have publically available (because it's not ready) but because the guy in IT is too busy with x and y I can't get him to deliver a and b, so no matter what I do I can't deliver everything even though SHE said she'd deliver half of it. She's just royally stitched me up. Bleh.

Harsh, man. I wait on other people completing simple, 5-minute jobs a lot. One person in particular is an expert at wasting time with spreadsheets.

I think the point has been made. X doesn't like console A because they feel its library mostly consists of one or two genres of games. Which is an opinion. Both ways the argument's gone -- the point is that the person who holds the opinion will not change their mind. So for the sake of it, why not just... accept this? And not try to convince that person anymore? No more defending your console with the same-but-reversed comment about the other console. The arguments are all the same. I have this console because I think that this other console does not have the variety of games that I want. "What about other people who have this other console?" Why does it matter to me? "It should matter because that's a lot of people so their opinion should count." Why should it matter to me? "Because if you discredit the opinions of others then why should others give credit about your opinion?" Why should it matter to me? ... That's how it reads in every thread, anyway. And that can fairly be applied to the argument either for Wii U or for PS4 (or for XB1). How about a future future where you may want to consider just... stopping. Or not rising to the bait. Both sides. Just ignore comments you feel are stupid.

PokemonCraft already quite actively, and repeatedly, lets us all know of the existence of this. -
Every time I log on I see that there's been a fresh spammer haul by someone. It may be a matter of hours before a blue or red latches on, but it's not a significant issue. Basic Income for everyone - Utopian idea or reality?
jayseven replied to Eenuh's topic in General Chit Chat
@Supergrunch I am definitely not an expert, but I'd assume that changing of tax codes to take into account a predictable amount of income (which would replace the tax-free allowance, etc) would be straightforward due to it being down to employers to correctly label tax codes before submitting to HRMC/whoever. Kind of related is how claiming universal credit/benefits/dole has changed recently - from being a fortnightly payment to being a monthly payment, and with it leading towards having to 'sign on' online (again, I'm no expert and I'm just paraphrasing a friend who works in a privatised social services role) are reducing the amount of taxpayer money spent on the benefits system, but are actually just increasing complication for many individuals -- and are really not caring for the vulnerable individuals who were already spunking away 2 weeks worth of money in a few days then scraping until the next dole-out; why give them twice the money in one go? That Green Economy Policy as a whole would have to take decades to implement anyway. It's a heavy focus on the local community at a time where people are connecting via the internet on a massively international scale. But it's a complicated issue that I definitely can't claim to fully understand. Unfortunately, the Greens have not done a great job of running the council of the constituency next door to mine (where my Dad lives). The main things they've done; caused a refuse-collector strike, erected large plant pots in the road (in only a few locations, but they are hazardous to cyclists and are not lit/etc), reduced speed limit to 20mph in residential areas (problem being 'residential area' is not always very residential, and isn't really of a massive benefit to anyone. Plus one of the greens went on a leadership course costing thousands of tax-payers money -- after he stepped down from his position. He states that what he learnt on the course he has passed on to his successors. Surely if this is of benefit to them then they should've gone in his stead? Didn't mean to end up green-bashing. I voted them in (I was living with my Dad last election), and it's always going to be a case of the more disputed policies taking up the limelight. I agree with raising taxes - but not for the individual. VAT went up to 20%, and the fact that the 'living wage' is higher than the minimum wage, and the fact that inheritance tax exists, stamp duty exists... In an ideal world we raise corporation tax - but considering we've reduced the amount that corporations have to pay by 3% in 3 years it's clear that we are trying to stop large corporations from leaving the uk so any increase would just mean that the economy as a whole takes a dive... which brings us back to the green's idea of localising economies so that there's no reliance on these massive companies... and of course if a company is facing a larger tax bill and they don't have the legal finesse to take advantage of tax breaks or subsidies or reallocating their head office... then they'll just up the cost to their customers anyway. And if there's a minimum level of income guaranteed by a government, then the amount of money paid out by companies for their employees is going to take a total dive. aaaaah economics go away! -
The 2nd game is more of the same, but there's a heavier reliance on the guns which was disappointing for me!

Basic Income for everyone - Utopian idea or reality?
jayseven replied to Eenuh's topic in General Chit Chat
I believe it's essentially a non-means tested form of welfare that anyone can apply to have, rather than something that will automatically just given.. I think? Singapore have an interesting model where there is forced savings. Everyone has to save something like 50% of their income. But both economic ideas are possible because the country/city is in a vastly different place to the uk. The city in holland (not sure if it applies to the whole of holland) has something like 40% of its workforce being part-time. Possible that this means a lot of people hold two part-time jobs rather than one full-time - or that the cost of living is lower or average income is higher so families can rely on one income... But I do personally think that in an ideal world you would indeed have both of these concepts. Force 25% savings, reduce tax, restructure pensions so that people's savings are responsible for pensions, and have a £500-monthly free income for anyone who wants it (paid out weekly to prevent vulnerable idiots from spending their money at the start of the month and having nothing for the rest of the month)... People who moan that they are working hard so that 'scrounger scum' get the easy life are missing the point. They are working hard so that they don't have ONLY £500 a month, and so that they can have a nicer life with access to nicer things. We should raise our acceptable minimum standard of life for everyone across the board because it's a nice thing as a human to do for their fellow humans, and not be so bitter about it. But realistically the argument is "but where does the money to pay for it come from?" and that is the £32.5bn/month question :P
