1. Surrogate. Surprised nobody's mentioned it yet. Trailer came out like a week ago. Bruce Willis! But in a Snow Crash-esque world where people sit their bodies at home but traipse around the world in their surrogate faux-bodies. People live life TO TEH EXTREEM because basically you can't die in your surrogate body. UNTIL NOW!!234ry2! Yeah. Great premise, but I think hollywood is forcing the usual 'but it needs a stooory' routine onto it.
2. He's not been performing to his own skill level for a lot of games now, so I figured I'd sell him and put the money towards a slightly younger forward of similar skill. Just... gotta get him in by tuesday!!
3. I think having three horses in the console race is what has effected this change in 'policy', but also I think this is an attempt by Sony and MS to try and batter down nintendo's 'revolutionary' tactics, and maybe force nintendo's hand because truly it is the Wii that is reaching its limits rapidly. I'm not really sure I'm ready for all this motion control nonsense though! I feel like an old fogey, ever aware that the Way I Know is slowly, but ever so surely, sinking into the sepia.
4. I know what you're saying too It takes great skill to create ambiguity to such extremes!
5. Chairdriver; good for you for having your own opinion on the guy and the film. Mulholland Drive is less about artist's intentions and more about the audience of fart-smelling egotists who think their interpretations are paramount. I mean, I fit in this category -- I like the movie because of the thought processes that I come up with, rather than due to ascertaining the precise intentions behind it. It's rather more like watching a fishtank than watching a film. You let your own mind drift around, contained only by the elements presented to you. As I said to Paj - go watch Koyaanisqatsi. Beautifully made.
6. Can I win Skank Of The Day? Because I've realised that I have no clean towels so I can't shower before work... and I've not showered for like 3 days anyway! Also kinda hungover today, but so far it's bearable. It has killed my appetite which means my stomach will be eating itself by midday.
7. I think it's like this test... EDIT: lol, yeah I had it right but the code didn't work. Noparse? Anyway, it's 'strike', not just 's'
8. awwwwwww.... I thought this was going to be an alcohol thread
9. It'll be interesting to see how many people remain once the faux-hippies up and leave after a few days without their xboxes and mobile phones. I'm sure the police will wait until the numbers dwindle before 'dispersing' the crowd with 'reasonable' force. And Daft - this is hardly a revolution, but if we're lucky it's the first steps towards it!
10. Chess club last night was fun! Pretty much everyone there was way better than me, except an old guy who plays on the club's D team, whom I drew 2-2 with in the end. The club was saying that they are going to enlarge the B team from 6 people to 8, which means with some promoting from the lower teams, there may be a space on the D team. Chess season starts sept/august and runs through to April - but I don't think I'm really good enough for D team just yet. Day off today - so playing L4D (and getting annoyed at the shitness of lots of players, not that I'm that good myself). Housemate decided to Mr-Muscle the oven, complete with ninja face-mask. Basically everytime we use the oven currently it cooks itself. Open the door and you're greeted with a face-full of sulphuric niceness. So he's doing that, while I've got my ninja headgear on and am washing the cutlery using kettle water. I'm sure these'll be entertaining memories at some point. SOMEONE MAKE ME DO SOMETHING DECENT ON MY DAY OFF. AG. Washing up and washing clothes is boo-ooring.
11. I'm sure the password was used on carringtoninstitute.com, or something.
12. Man, I have this one tiny patch of sunburn agitating me on my chest. Got about 90 mins til I leave for the chesspub, so I'm very tempted to de-sober in the vain home it'll ease the agitation... but I'd rather be sober and alert meeting what I presume to be a bunch of older guys, who will all be able to beat me hands down, while probably telling me all sorts of important information I'll need to remember. I kicked ass at work; 4 hours and I didn't even take my PAID break. I need to get a pedometer to measure how far I've walked. I have tomorrow off, and I'm in on 11 the next day, so sure. Andy wanted to do something friday night, and I'm not in the mood to organise, so go for it! Oh yeah - I paid six fucking quid for a retainer for my lip. Insane.
13. (nope - wasn't me who changed it!)
14. You guys want more laws? Dudes - Do you feel scarred because you bought and watched movies 'underage'? If not, then why do you think it's better for others to have less choice than you? This whole charade has just shown the difference between laws and morality -- if there was never a law, just a 'suggestion' that only people of a certain age are suitable for this game or that movie, then there would never be this weird 'glee'-- "OMG I CAN BREAK THE LAW AND GET AWAY WITH IT!!!" --I mean, jeez.
15. Ha. That's because you're doing it wrong.
16. First day of employment - the horror, the horror! A ROUTINE?! No, not quite, phew. Different shifts each day this week (and thursday off) which mean I ought to be able to go out friday night (woo?). I am sure I'll join the ranks of "all i have to talk about now is my work" on here. God... BUT I MONEY MAKE MUST! Gotta locate a pub for tomorrow for a chess club meeting - very uncertain what it'll be like. Except that I'm going to lose lots.
17. to be fair i had just checked your two previous matches, thinking you had played to. My logic was sound. My tactics just sucked.
18. Brighton Beach is all stones, which is good because you don't get sand everywhere. Beaches are good because the serenity of the view encourages chillaxing and good conversation. Bonfires and bbqs with the sound of the sea! A swim out as far as you dare - for a wee! Ha! Yes. Everyone wees in the sea.
19. I read best on journeys. I tend to push myself until I'm knackered before I go to my bedroom, and generally would rather play a game/watch a movie, because you can do them drunk.
20. fuu... *sobs* I am the pinata.
21. Dragging the crate into the target range, blocking the door and stabbing/blowing carrington/scientists up IN THE FACE? Mmm I really hope that stuff's all still there. Glitches and all. New cheese plz!
22. Well I frequently dream that my ex is socialising with me and others, but treating me utterly like a friend, and some other dude shows an interest in her which results in me getting angry, thumping someone and watching the ex walk off all dissapointed. This morning in my dream, just as I pounced on a now-toothless admirer of hers, she woke me up with a phone call in real life. For the first couple of exchanges I really thought I was still dreaming - was a bit odd. Then after the call I rolled over and dreamt of parachuting bears! Oh noes!
23. I might put off the double-trip for a few days... Don't want to do it by myself and don't know anyone free all day I'm sure I've been to the cinema twice in one day at least twice, but for the life of me I can't remember any details at all. Grindhouse almostsorta counts, right?
