    Agreed - but Spaced is 1999! Doh I think you're right. If I say 'cultural impact' then Heroes hasn't really done much at all! When we have the "I <3 the 00's" I suppose it'll have a brief mention somewhere... Hum.

    TBH I don't think Big Love should be directly compared to Breaking Bad. If it is, I still think Breaking Bad wins... WHile BL is good, it still, to me at least, doesn't feel like it's really hit its peak yet. Sure that's a good thing, but BB keeps feeling like it can't get any better, and then it does.

    Confession At work sometimes I print off a list of stock and walk up and down the aisles with a look of concern on my face, just to avoid serving customers for a while. Advice How do I prevent/cure chapped lips? This cold is cracking them up and I can't really afford/be arsed with vaseline.

    I'm liking killthenet's list more and more, if not just because of the discussion potential. Big Bro was a noughties thing, wasn't it? But yeah, I think some of killthenet's list is off (eggheads?!) so would like some definition, so I can have a go at making my own list :P Save the cheerleader... We may have to define 'cultural impact' :P Ideally we're talking about shows that altered the way we perceive TV, or the way we simply watch it. Perhaps such an impact would be seen in how networks operate - as in a subsequent overload of copycat shows. In that sense, at least, I think Heroes was lucky enough to appear at just the right stage of the superhero dominance of cinema to ride the wave on the smallscreen in ways that similar previous shows, like 4400, failed to do. While I admit my mind is fairly blank (besides misfits and, to some extent, Flashforward which is arguably following Lost's footsteps more closely) for recent copycats, I do remember feeling/thinking/saying "heroes totally did that first" (despite thinking the same thing about heroes copying other shows) several times. From that tangent sparks this; if we have misfits then where are our other brit teen TV shows, like Skins and inbetweeners?

    Hard list to choose from (as I've not been keeping up with the majority of the shows!) but I have to say that House had a phenomenal 2nd half of its season, and a great start to the current one. Gotta say, and I'm not a follower of them, but the globes seem to be a very pop-friendly award show from the looks of the list.

    I've fully seen 9 of those on teh list. Needs some BSG, Dexter, Garth Merenghi's Darkplace, Kings, Carnivale, Look Around You, and for 'cultural impact' Heroes should be there, as should House (but then, I don't really know the criterion you have).

    I've spent the last hour wearing my 15 tog duvet and thermal sleeping bag, preparing myself for the cold sprint to the shower. Work's 3.15 'til 10 today. But I got tomorrow off again! Huzzah! Yesterday; had a powercut for two hours, HGFW invited me to visit her at her hometown, and I completed HL2 in one sitting. Today nothing will happen.

    Life Events 2009 was a year of failed events, a year of broken promises and misery. Next year I want to be in a position where I'm not too busy self-loathing myself to the bottom of a bottle, and not self-conscious when socialising. So I guess 2010 should be the year I graduate... Friends/Relationships To be a better friend. Not put myself in the position where I've double-booked, or forget that I've promised to be somewhere. Places I wanted to go to europe this year, canada next year, australia the year after. Unfortunately I doubt I'll get a holiday at all. I will try to do 'the rounds' and visit my friends across the homeland though; Isle of Wight, Newcastle, Manchester, Wales. By the end of the year I want to be living away from home, and I am anticipating a ballsy, ridiculous plan that will look like The Young Ones meets Withnail & I. Entertainment Perfect Dark XBLA to play, Lost to obsess over and The Road for the cinema. Work I'd like to continue working with the people I do, but only for a couple of shifts a week so I can concentrate on my studies, then maybe transfer down to a Brighton store after uni in an attempt to clear some debts by living at home with me mum. Perhaps I'll get back to writin]]g again, and work on that life dream :P Uni I want to start living in the library. ... It's odd how shaped I envision the future, yet the tassles are frayed and the buttons fit to burst. I've built a nice house of cards out of these iterations of Future Me that are going to be forced into being simply due to the Elements Of Life that are Out Of My Control. Fingers crossed I get something seminal to lift me up. Might get a dog.

    Just spent three-ish hours catching up on not being on the internet for two days. Done absolutely nothing with myself yet today - about to get dressed, have a smoke, go buy some food and booze then play some sort of gaming device into the wee hours. Been pretty manpig-flu-ill all week, with some weird fever dreams and general mind-feels-weirdness. Mastered the art of looking busy at work so I don't tend to deal with many customers, got a ridiculous haircut. ... And no great rotated-non-ponce-pose pictures to show it in all its glory. I'm drinking port there. Mate at work dropped 25kg dunbells on his toe. Snapped his big foot-finger in two places. On the internet, nobody can hear the voices. Especially because the backspace button is always so hungry. 1100101? Binareal coo-lever.

    Man, I got beasted. My team is disastrous... I'm not giving up though! If I have to consider the relegation battle to be my main focus, then I will. My other team won their league - but the change report was raaaabbish. Being in tier 7 (or whatever) means more active members, better managers... so harder games! I may end up totally pissed off with the game if I get relegated in the n-e league as well as utterly trounced in the official one...

    I got a text telling me the result -- I've not since logged onto our league.. BUT! My (better) official team won 4-0... and finished 1st in their league. Shows I'm not completely shit. Promotion here mofos! ... but with the n-e league, well I dunno as I'm refusing to look at it 'til I have 'time' -- I.E. monday. Sigh.

    It's not physically possible to read teh entire book in one night/sitting. Trust me, I tried. I managed 500 pages in about 30 hours (and wrote an essay as well :P) during a 3-day stint to do an essay on this and moonstone and some other book.
