  1. James Cameron is effectively the bottle of champagne personified that gets wheeled out every decade to christen the birth of a new age of cinematographic technology. *catches breath* I've still not seen it, but now I kinda don't want to see it at the cinema simply because it's reached epidemic levels and I'd only be going because everyone else already has. Can't trump the Sheeple card, mafraid.
  2. That bit where Ford Prefect takes Dent to the pub and tells him he better buy and drink three pints quick? Well he gave me a lot more notice
  3. Hooray! I got an award thing! It's my last match of the season in just over 12 hours. Set some rather shoddy stupid WRONG BAD tactics just now. Cursing my face off as it is, but lost the will.
  4. Is Jane Lynch playing herself, like she does in everything?
  5. Steph I think I have Theme Hospital sitting around here somewhere, I'll have a checker.
  6. Stumbled Upon this page of explanations for a bunch of band names. While it's mostly unknown bands on there, the odd pearl is interesting to read
  7. Got my dad's presents in the post - three DVDs he picked up in thailand -- Bangkok dangerous, Shadowless Sword and Skin Walkers - all three look like utter fun tripe! Shame the BD is the remake with Cage in too, but they should be fun to watch.
  8. Head is shattered today. I'm supposed to sort the house out before the weekend party... but GROAN to that, I say! I think I'll order take-out tonight.
  9. Hey! Thank you very much for the greetings everyone. I'm very very drunk right now and this is taking a lot of effort to correctly spell everything... I DID get very drunk on cider (sorry Eenuh)... I had lots and lots of sailor Jerry's drings bought for me, as well as pints of cider, and in general... Yeah, a good night :P AS IS TRADITION: Here are my presents, in list format! - A T-shirt saying "If Found Please return to pub" (probably never going to wear this..) - A hoodie saying "Drink sensibly - Don't spill it! - Some dice game - Drinking beer mat things!! and my housemates pooled together for Beatles Rock Band! I've had a really really really REALLY nice day altogether, and I'm all smiles and positives and happiness and stuff Thank you ALL for your messages, it really is appreciated. I know I've been a dour and sour person recently but you've really contributed to me feeling very positive about things... so yeah! especially the oversized DUCK!!! Love it paj, cheers (this message took 15 mins to write, I've had a good one!)
  10. Tripped to town, got my presents from the postie, picked up a coursework result of 60% (woo not a failure!), picked up something from argos that was finally in stock for Shorty's birthday present for nearly a month ago, ambled home, got some scrumpy, about to get jiggy with Batman for a bit! Love the snow. I can see how horrendous it can be for traffic, though. Often it's night and there's no moon too :P DENSEFACE
  11. We still have a bunch of yesterday's leftover snow, so time for DANGEROUSLY DANGEROUS WALK TO TOWN!
  12. Yeah, what aimless said -- it seems you're asking the wrong questions in the OP. In the report you describe the context in which the industry operates VIDEO GAMES - how they are financed, -the size of typical companies, -what types of employment opportunities there are, -the skills and experience needed, -and some detail on the nature of the work. You don't need to worry about the sales side of things as that's more to do with profit after the fact rather than how they actually finance the game in the first place. I'm sure most games are given a budget... That's all I can say really! More info is in boox.
  13. She wants to know how much the game creators get back from general sales, I think. I'd imagine most employees will get some form of salary, paid monthly, regardless of when the game is released.
  14. I did but one guy took his one (from teh lounge) home with him over xmas and hasn't brought it back yet, and I put mine in teh lounge because I was effectively the only one in the house.
  15. I have a friend who is going to try and get from the Isle of Wight to Sheffield tomorrow... The snow's pretty bad so I have my Fingers Crossed. Housemates are all back! Generally woop-de-doo and all... but there's only 1 xbox, and four fans of MW2 so I can't exactly enjoy the lazing hours of Batman that I wanted. Kinda feeling all "... so what do I do with myself?" now. BAH. BAAAAAAH!! Will have to resort to being the Last One Awake and do the whole nocturnal life thing. I have pub plans tomorrow but I don't know who's going and I'm pretty sure everyone'll forget. WHAT TO DOOOOO
  16. I tend to feel bored of all games when I have too big a choice of games to play (backlog it is!). I spent a period back around 2005/06 when I stopped playing/caring, and even now I probably only spend about 3 hours a week gaming -- unless I find a game I can fully immerse myself into... The problem for me has kinda been with achievements -- when I have a selection of games I find my choice is steered by which game will get me the most points quickest? rather than purely enjoyment factor. However, I started playing Arkham Asylum last night, and the sheer enjoyment/story side of things makes me Not Give A Shit about the achievements because I enjoy the game enough. Take a break, read a book. Best advice I can give.
  17. Word On The Street is that Meadowhall is closed... I've no idea if trains are running (probably are) but really don't want to werk! Not got to leave 'til 3 as it is, so plenty of time for the snow to get worse... Last night me and my housemates (two of whom just got back) went to a neraby pub (The Royal Standard for those who Know), helped the landlord kick an irish drunk out, then won £8 on the It Box (battleship is where it's at!) then the landlord gave us a 'lock in' where we had cheap drinks 'til 1am! Win! (nothing at all here)
  18. Needed those points! My last game is on friday against the bottom of the league Mcoy! All my players are 100% except for perhaps the two players that should probably have priority -- my 19 and 20 year old midfielders!! Methinks next season I need to really, really, really forget promotion and just get some growth. Giggle!
  19. Ah I guess I mean the setting for book 4, then -- where we see the story of how Roland met Susan.

I've basically read all the books so far in something like 4 months? It's been a proper thrill - going from the first book to having the doors in the second, to bringing jake back in the third, to Lud and Oz and New York and even King himself, it's basically been hugely unpredictable. A couple of times it was dull to read, but only because (with book 4 especially) I thought I was reading an appetiser - only after like 400 pages did I realise the whole book was going to be about that!

I might go back over Gunslinger after book 7, not sure. Definitely want to read King's other stuff - he claims that most/all of his books are in some way to do with the Dark Tower, but yeah I'll start with the obvious Salem's Lot, The Stand, Insomnia, It...

  20. I did. Because he's posted a picture of himself a few times. *shrug*
  21. TACTICS SETTT!! A cruncher of a game for me -- this and friday are my last games, I really need to get a win tomorrow to ensure my safety... Not liking the nerves though!
  22. Started watching this, finished playing that, ate these things, smoked those. I am a licenced private investigator. Not really.
  23. Rude Tube was so fun Didn't realise how much I'd missed! "Charlie bit me" is still shit, though.
  24. Bard - Pinkers? A simple read... Thought you'd delve deeper than that! EDIT: Good introductory books though. I only read about how much you did though. Bored.
