  1. You were talking to dan with your question, weren't you? We're all repeating ourselves! You are saying you're pretty happy with it but thread [x] should be back. We are saying the experiment is not over, things are slowly being discussed backstage, be more creative in the mean-time. We are listening to you are we are trying to be polite. But to be blunt; You are not getting your threads back until we say so. So stop asking us. We cannot be reasoned with, so stop with the calculatorial dictionarified blargaphonical detriphony! The more you go on about it, the longer we will take and the less you will be grateful. That's how it works.
  2. Yeah, stuff like the order of placing at the start (which is always house AND road); starts with the oldest person then clockwise, then when it gets to the last person putting their first set down, they put their second down then the order is reversed 'til it gets to the oldest person who then rolls the dice to start. Also; the resources that surround your second property are given to you immediately before any dice is rolled. You can only build a house on an intersection so long as the three connecting intersections are NOT occupied... so effectively each hex has a max. of three settlement spaces! The game, under all these rules, encourages road building much more, and honestly every game I've had with full rules (minus the dice-roll thing, which I discovered while reading the almanac as my mates played on teh last day) has been exceedingly close because the limitation in expanding rapidly initially means nobody really gets a great advantage when it comes to the resources, and trading becomes a huge focus. But yeah -- I've always really enjoyed the way we played it! Make sure you're free the weekend after next!
  3. Just checked on play.com and they have season 2 in stock, ready to dispatch. 3 should, surely, be airing somewhere about now, ey? The show usually starts in January (amirite, dan? I do forget...) so it's not that bad... only 5 months away!
  4. ReZ; there is argument against the threads, and it isn't ridiculous. I'm just tired of repeating myself.
  5. Thread-Rip, it be. Essentially; people listening to loud music on the bus/train can be annoying. But sometimes I listen to my music loud and wish everyone on the bus could hear it and thought it was as awesome as I thought it was so we could break into a spontaneous Love Of Life and group-hug all our troubles away. I forget whether merging the posts to this thread will make the moved posts come before this post, so maybe this will make no sense. Or maybe it'll make more! I like in-ear bud 'phones because I can't afford the cans and I feel silly with them and it's harder to wear a hat/hoodie, and they take up more space and they remind me of hearing tests. I hate that weird non-noise that you get when you wear them. The sound of YOUR OWN EAR, or whatever.
  6. Yes I am It started with the intention of getting a full deck's worth of jokers. I forget how many I have, only 30 or so, I think. Everything I own is still in boxes and I won't actually be back at my family home for at least two more weeks (!!) but I'll dig it out. My friend lent me a book where the main character collects jokers after she found out I did similar. The character would buy packs solely for the joker, and there was some interesting philosophy behind it. I don't go as far as that, but essentially I ask people, when we play cards, "can I have your joker?" - some say "er, sure" straight off. I also collect(ed) train tickets! Some people here might remember I once even made a thread asking if anyone could send me any, as I used them for roaches for my rolled cigarettes. I've started using filters now, but I still have a good eight-inch stack (that's what innuendo said!) of them for no reason whatsoever. I want to start a new collection. Like Toby jugs, or something.
  7. I think the problem isn't the lack of UIG or PYP, more just a lack of imagination for creative new ways to instigate discussions of things you want to talk about. Yes the sporadic, spontaneous gems that were found in the mass threads are less likely to be found currently, but the shit/diamonds ratio currently is much more favourable than it was before. If you miss a thread then you will miss it for a particular reason that may or may not be unique to you or a few others. Try and come up with an interesting thread that replicates that essence - if it bombs then, frankly, it was a shit idea and nobody wanted to talk about it or see your twelve pictures of you at Club Generic doing the Disco Dance, or whatever. PYP always annoyed me/bored me. You bought new shoes for running? Why not make a thread about the shoes you bought, your reasons for buying it, the running route you've come up with (perhaps a screenshot of google maps for stalker purposes) and then ask to see other people's routes, or maybe ask for tips on running. If you've just bought a box of doughnuts then go fuck off and who gives a shit. I'm bored of writing this now. I think I made my point in the first sentence. I'm thinking ham salad in a bagel for lunch, but we only have weird mustard. There's mustard/horseradish and mustard/red pesto and I just want mustard. Got some Biltong too. Go me.
  8. Precisely how will your 'method' be any easier/different to the thread/code/play method?
  9. Had a game of Rummikub last night, actually! The hardest thing with boardgames, as Spambot testified elsewhere, is that you need a dedicated bunch of mates to play them with.
  10. MANCHILDREN ASSEMBLE!! Ahem. I currently collect salsa pot lids. Doritos have just released a pepperoni salsa with a purple lid! Also collect jokers from card decks. I'm not as dedicated a hoarder as i used to be. My mate's been collecting his cinema tickets. Every single one. Ever. Since he was like 3. He has hundreds of the fuckers!
  11. lol.

I WAS ACTUALLY MEGA LOOKING FORWARD TO IT TOO! Aaaah... Such a hell weekend. Sorry for being a fuck-up.

  12. I'm lolling in my grave!
  13. I'm finding that there are a lot of new, thought-provoking threads that, due to their quantity, I actually avoid at the moment as I simply do not have the time to dispense between them all in order to fully form the reply I'd deem worthy for the topic. But then this means that maybe one thread a day gets my undivided attention for a new masseev post, so in that way my posting has become less frequent, but each post is leaner. Right? Right? No? Ok. Anyway; this 'experiment' is still in progress, as has been said multiple times we needed to adjust to the 'new' 'style', and as some of you are reporting back you are indeed adjusting your reading habits. We are still drinking tea and discussing warbling frogs in the secret spy room for the cool kids, laughing at the trivium.
  14. "Anyone got wood for sheep?" Yeah! So I found a neat little toyshop up my local high-street (why is it so high, anyway?) a couple of weeks ago -- to find a chess set for the n-e meet on the way to london, actually. Well they didn't have any chess, but I did spy the Kids version of Settlers of Catan!! I asked if they had teh grown up one, and they ended up ordering it in 'specially for me even though I didn't actually ask them to. Long story slightly-less-long; I took it to a juggling festival this weekend and introduced it to my mates there who proceeded to read the fucking rules and blow my miiind! For three years Catan (or Catalan, for those in love) was a staple reason to invite Dan over to our flat (lols), and the entire time we were doing it fairly wrong! So now I've taught teh game to noobs and I'm the fucking noob. These guys know the real rules better than me and it's... ok so I'm pretty OTT about it. Sorry. Also; Carcassonne on XBLA for me too -- enjoyable, very serene music, must play you (cube) online for achievement's sake :P This toy shop I mentioned also does a board games night once a month. I forget the name of a game that he recommended me, but I may well report back here with details -- in two months time etc BLAAGSjsadgasiuoinobodycares
  15. You should be more specific about what kind of show you want to watch, but effectively all teh answers have been given. If you're after a supernatural drama than read JonSt's and Happenstance's posts. Also, we're still trying to encourage you to not make massive engulfing threads, so if you want to know what's out later in the year, or ask if anyone's watched buffy, then use teh relevant threads/make a new one. yes, I am aware I am being an arse.
  16. ROFFLEOLOLOshit. urg. Fu. No. Should read messages in future. So fail.
  17. I missed most of the scene that bookended teh opening scene as it was too quiet for me, but I didn't have any issues with the rest of teh film (my hearing difficulty means this is a frequent issue). I've never been to the Duke in brighton so I can't say for sure whether that cinema is known for it's sound faults.
  18. TROLOLOLOLO! I was genuinely roffling when I used a mate's iphone to check teh scores on friday night. Sooo leet! Current dev values; 2x 8, 2x 9, the rest are between 10 and 15! Faaiiirly confident I'll get 15 for everyone by the end of teh season. Win!

    Limbo

Took the plunge and bought the game. Just gotten past the end of the demo. Read a review in The Times which said the game's only 4 hours long, so I'll be playing it fairly sparsely.
  21. She hid it because she wanted to forget reality, because she was happy with the created world they had together. I don't think she effectively chose one way or the other, and whether it is that she forgot or not, I think the point is that she was happy with where she was, with it being whatever it was. The spinning top got in the way of that and reminded her too much... I'm now not really sure of the amount of difference between what we're saying!
  22. All my boys are staying on -- There was only really one player, 34-7 mf, that was questionable. Aside from him I don't expect any retirements for another 3 seasons. Next season I may even sell all of my 30+ers...
  23. Dibbage!+2
  24. I'm just going to lock this and we can pretend it never happened. If Chair actually wants to do a mafia then we can let him restart the sign-ups I, too, promised a mafia ages ago and if/when I finally get round to it I'll be making a new sign-up thread too.
  25. And where is it?
