Sign-ups: Harry Potter and the Dark Mark Mafia
jayseven replied to Beast's topic in General Chit Chat
Put me in for spot number 7 Good luck with your theming/planning! -
While I've quickly associated the entire album with memories of when i stayed with my girlfriend for three weeks (I'd listen to it daily on a walk to the shops and whatnot) and sessions of Darksiders... This intro really grabbed me. So mellow. I love the build up. Kind of a shame there's no repeat of such awesome instrumental in the rest of the album. Generally I like instrumental album starters like this.

I joined/co-founded a juggling society in my 2nd year at uni, because post-halls stagnation was setting in. Met a solid group of like-minded friends, some of whom were and still are shite at all forms of juggling trickery, but they too were on the lookout for new friends. In my 4th year I attempted to join a chess club - managed to go along once and met some really interesting people, but unfortunately work persisted in giving me shifts every wednesday that coincided with the starting time of the club. One great thing about clubs is that you'll find a good range of skilled people there - for example, at the chess club there were some geniuses who studied the game heavily, then there were people like me who were simply eager to learn more. Most clubs are ecstatic at noobs showing their face, and if you look hard enough you'll find all sorts of clubs. Book clubs, movie clubs, etc. Even think about starting one up for a hobby or interest you have. Another thing is to look at forums that are centered around your area. You can join up and chat and meet folks at your local pub hassle-free! Since I moved back to brighton I've become less active socially. My girlfriend and her best mate are forever organising things for us to do, but largely I don't keep in touch with anyone. There's a chess club up the road that I may consider joining -- my dad used to go there quite a lot so it'd be interesting to see if anyone makes the connection. Rambleramble!

Current Job Amateur juggler, pro gamer, with quantious drinking experience. Starting two volutary jobs next week(ish), hearing back from two real jobs 'early january'. Dream Job Making money sharing my opinion. Monetise the BISH. Top Secret Project that Costs Lots Of Money. How? Write stuff. Pray. To break the evil spider's curse, what must you do? There probably is stuff to do, but frankly it's quite fun simply 'coasting'.

May be during episode 2 but I can't remember exactly when. Just keep checking back after you've done another mission.

Oh, for sure! I don't dispute that (or myself :P) - I'm actually really glad to see my targets were effective - had no clue they were that spot on :P It's a shame your other positions weren't filled as I think the extra man-power, and thus an extra phase or two, would've really benefitted the game. Probably the most thought-through game and certainly one of the more ambitious ones! I look forward to your next ones! And note that I see dannyboy's comment about the jayseven-curse :P Long write-ups are more effort but way more fun for the GM :P

I'll play please

The win came out of the blue! I was sure there was another left. Suspected heroijan and nintendohnut right up to the end. Nintendohnut - We only realised there was another mafia on the 2nd night! Even up to the last night we weren't sure if there was a mafia or just a bunch of vigs. I personally changed my mind about you as many times as is said in teh whole thread -- I really couldn't decide whether to believe you or not for ages - but I knew that the whole time I argued with you was time well spent for our mafia. At one point ReZ needed to strengthen his own false role and decided to out me - after night 4 I think. If people were reading the thread closely they would've seen the loophole -- night 4 nobody targetted me so I could learn some info about my target - but if ReZ targetted me then... hmm! :P I think mafias generally tend to keep a closer eye on the write-ups. This time round was trickier as I genuinely couldn't tell who I was in the write-up (I wasn't in most of them!) -- I really thought I was the epic pirate and I was worried after the 3rd night (I think) where the epic pirate was cutlassed-up... Cube does well when he's mafia, but he tends to ask less questions. I think we did well in targetting the mafia -- and especially when rez and mr-paul were the only guys who targetted the last dead townie, I thought they were screwed! So yeah - game was good fun. I really enjoyed scouring the write-ups for clues. In the end it does seem like we had it easy, but I think it's only fair to say that it would've been more balanced if all the town were actually playing. We lost aqui1a early on and the "perhaps the good-character ones are actually mafia..." theory really started to worry me - from early on it proved true, so it was just a case of buying some respect. I, again, lucked into my lynching of Dazz. I truly forgot/missed his rolecall, and I think that won me some favour getting him lynched. it also helped us determine who else must've been mafia. Tales and Zell were very quiet throughout, and heroijan did well not to tell us his character... but yeah, having the traditionally 'bad' characters as the town was a good idea - an extra hidden clue that could've worked well if people put their backs into it! Good game all-in-all. A bit unbalanced due to inactivity, but that always seemss the way!

Wow! Epic post is epic! My comments; - Holiday season ruins mafia games :P - I got lucky early on, considering I got ReZ lynched when he was being a tool -- lucky that people didn't turn on me. I suppose I was lucky to survive for as long as I did after that. Shame to be dead on the last night, but glad my targets were fucking people up! That was the annoying thing -- I got literally no info at all - no clue whether my action even worked or not, so it was a bit annoying. Perhaps giving me an alternate night power, or something that'd cost 2 AP that I could consider saving up for? Because of my info-less role, I, perhaps subconsciously, chose to play a background role with the investigating, expecting people with info to be more forward. Sorry to hear diageo was being diageo again, smeagol - I was worried that I was being a diageo at the start of the game as it took me a few reads to get to grips with things. I think you did a grand job, smeagol. What are you to do when the town won't play properly? Blame yourself isn't it. We sucked. Our fault. You put on a well thought-out game, I very much look forward to your next one

Cube, once again, wanting to attack someone. Vote: Cube I'm not completely convinced about the role-switching malarky. Previously you said on night 1 you received a PM saying you were confined to your bunk. That would mean you were switched with the bearded pirate, however tellyn was loyal to the captain and thus he could not kill. Targetting yourself on night 3 is easy enough. Hard to say though! I'm fairly sure cube has come to the end of his tether. Night 1 he set out to 'fiercely attack', night 4 he enters rummy's room (iirc) with a cutlass in hand. There's no proof to support his suggestion that he tells stories or wahtever. LIES.

Well our VAT just incraesed to 20% so don't expect the cheapness to last! Uk's going crazy.

I've been unfortunate enough to listen to the middle-aged daily-mail reading ranters on the news segment of radio 2 a couple of days this week and all I can say is that the world is stupid, full of idiots and more idiots who see no harm nor pain in allowing these idiots to express their stupid opinions that do nothing but encumber more idiots with more biased stupidity. It angers me!
-
I'm both scared and enthralled by this :P Debug mode I've seen you in smokin' action, you gotta keep me posted as to how well this works for you in all situations. My girlfriend wants me to quit, my family wants me to quit and a lot of my friends want me to, too... Threads like this I wonder why it is I smoke besides "waste some time!"

lol. Work. :P

Yeah I kinda-agree! Top league has been closest that it's been in yeaaars -- pre-jayseven, almost :P back in the day when oddy wasn't king of the castle. Mid-league has been a bit limp this season - that's not to say that there aren't good teams as there are some almost-too-good teams -- but I think it's a testament to the lowest league's continual improvement. There are some scary teams coming up! I think my team is one that is just, frankly, shit. I'm a crap manager. About 7 seasons ago I said "Oh I'm gonna concentrate on development" and.. here I am, in teh same place! This season i've gone on the offensive, relying on my solid defense to hold me up -- not been a great plan. I should probably go back to drawing all my games, as I think I can do that. Anyway! Little pissed post-birthday. Love this game. Mmm!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TWIN BUDDY THING!

Remember you can spend the WHOLE DAY checking people out around town. You can sleep for 3/6/9/12 hours so don't worry about the deadlines. Certain town events are available only at certain stages of the game. I would recommend going to the Milk Barn asap and getting the spirit map(s) and doing those. The QTEs are a bit annoying, but I personally found them keeping me on the edge of my seat the first time 'round. Just don't rush the game and you'll be fine I completed it three times in less than 30 hours and still have cravings to do it again!

Skipped most of the thread! I'd say it's a bit of a leap to go from comedy to HBO-esque awesomeness. It's hard to recommend an appropriate show without knowing her taste. Something along the same lines that my girlfriend wants me to watch more of -- big bang theory? Light enough and bitesize. Things like BSG and The Wire, while awesome, require several episodes to really get into. When you're specifically watching something with a loved one you don't want something too seriious because you'll end up not talking to each other. Light-hearted is the way forward... so something like Supernatural is a good bet -- she'll watch it for the boys to begin with, then she'll be hooked! So yeah! Tell us what she's into. Short serious stuff like The Prisoner are a good way to gauge how receptive she is -- but seeing as she watches ANTM like my girl does... it ain't likely.

WHOLELY depends on the quality of the paper. Some triple-ply-quad-core-centrino-embossed-glazed-leafs are one-piece at a time. Tracing paper is a threefold. Generally, two sheet-fold go. People who are wusses and scared of feeling some poo are KILLING THE ENVIRONMENT. Remember girls, front to back!

lol :P Well I've not done any official count or anything because so far it seems everyone is spot on with their own counts. I announce eenuh as winner, once again! Although if I wasn't so mean to myself... Congratulations eenuh! Well done Always a fantastic contributor to the game Maybe one day I'll actually do a prize!

3D = don't care. Will get this re-release DEFINITELY. Praying the sequel is on its way.

Ganepark; when it says "be here by 23:00" or whatever on the nav, don't worry. You can do the mission the next day - go and explore the town/talk to poeple NAOW! The game is all about the story/characters/script. Graphics are all pre-gen. It's very much a cult game. You'll either love it or hate it. (I love it)
