  1. I was thinking about this only yesterday, I think there is a market for a Switch with more power, a focus on docked play and just general hardware improvements made. I'm not really sure if it will be announced soon and whatever it is, it can't segment the market, it will still play Switch games. With the Switch Lite, I just see that as another option, you're still playing the same games, but you no longer have the ability to play on the big screen. As for another console entirely, separate to the Switch, I can't see that happening and I'd mostly class the mobile games as a profitable experiment for the developers/shareholders. Whatever is next for Nintendo, I would say that it has to play Switch games, as the console is just too successful for this to not happen. I do look at the Switch though, I notice how warm it can get while playing more demanding games and even with proper ventilation, I often question the life of the console.
  2. If this turns out to be Rogue Squadron IV then... I'm interested. But I just don't see how it can be, though it's a nice thought to hang onto until the reveal tomorrow. I think the appeal for me with the Rogue Squadron series, wasn't so much in the fact that it's a "Star Wars" IP but more in the flight mechanics. Star Wars as a brand, doesn't really mean that much to me... but make a game which is essentially the same as those brilliant games from Factor 5 but better in some way, then I'd likely be interested in it; I really can't see that happening though. I'd love to be proven wrong.
  3. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is currently hosting a 200X themed tournament, ending after the weekend The latest tournament in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate titled "200X" went live on Friday 12th June, 2020, and lets you choose any character which was newly introduced to the series during that decade, fighting battles which you'll be able to partake in until the event ends after this weekend. It's interesting, looking back to which characters were added to the roster during that decade, how much of a big deal it was at the time and how all of these additions have changed the series since, for the better, offering up Smash as a platform not just for staple Nintendo characters, but a whole host of third-parties as well. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as it stands now, is a phenomenal achievement in just how many different franchises and games from the industry it plays host to.
  4. The reaction when the trailer was shown, while in the N-E chat... SCG - "It might do well, if it's free" Drahkon - "or a budget title" I think that sums it up, remember when Rocket League was a PS Plus game quite early on? Do the same with this, or keep it cheap and you'll probably get people playing it. For me though, I only recently played Rocket League for the first time and while I like that to a point, this doesn't have the same appeal, but it might to quite a large audience, in time.
  5. New trailer released for Paper Mario: The Origami King Full press release and trailer up on the main page. Now that I can see where they are going with the battle system, I'm pretty happy with the idea of the game overall. It's a fully fledged, Paper Mario battle system, with timed elements and added strategy. While the rest of the game looks decent overall. Though I have to say, since starting playing Bug Fables, this is going to have to be pretty special to top that.
  6. It was fun watching this event with you in the N-E chat @drahkon Also thanks for putting all those titles into list form, I've borrowed it and whittled the titles down to the ones I'm interested in, the developer and when they are out... PlayStation 5 exclusive titles Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart - Insomniac - launch day? Possibly Returnal - Housemarque - launch day? Guaranteed, surely? Gran Turismo 7 - Polyphony Digital - launch day? lol no Demon's Souls - From Software - launch day? Maybe Horizon Forbidden West - Guerrilla - launch day? Probably not PlayStation 5 timed console exclusive titles Kena: Bridge of Spirits - Ember Lab - launch day? Nope Project Athia - Luminous Productions (Square-Enix) launch day? Yeah... no, 2025 more like GhostWire: Tokyo - Tango Softworks - launch day? Nope, 2021 PlayStation 4 and 5 timed console exclusive titles Oddworld Soulstorm - Oddworld Inhabitants Inc - launch day? Unlikely Solar Ash - Nah, 2021 Non-exclusive titles Resident Evil Village - Capcom - launch day? No way, 2021 So that's eleven titles I'm potentially interested in, of which five are exclusive and maybe only one or two will be launch games. The console design is... I'd only consider the version with a disc drive, if it was available in one colour then I'd be a little bit more interested in it but it's not that important. To me, it's looking like 2021 at the earliest, if I'd be buying one at all and by that time, might as well wait until 2022, see if it gets a better redesign and/or a slight price drop. I really don't want to drop £500+ on a new console, that isn't a possibility for me right now, even if it was, I still don't think I'd do it. We'll see what the Xbox Series X brings soon enought as well but, I can't see that convincing me either, certainly not at launch. It was a good showing for the console, if I'm being brutally honest though, there's still only maybe four games in that entire reduced list which I really, definitely want to play.
  7. It's still there it's just that there's no link to it on the main page. How long is this presentation going to be? Does anyone know? I'll likely watch it, as it's after Mario Kart finishes. If it's an hour long presentation or less, that'd be ideal, but if there's more to show then, so be it.
  8. Yep, just finished listening to this weeks episode, absolutely fantastic, really enjoyed it, only one thing could have made it even better... ...Ray-Tracing!
  9. Now all we need is a new Genji game, for some Giant Enemy Crabs! 2020 will be the new 2006 for videogames.
  10. I'm currently listening to the latest episode, great so far but I've got to say that I'm sure I know what this weeks transition tunes are from...
  11. Out of interest, I checked what the previous/current generation of consoles cost me at time of purchase... PS4 at launch in 2013 - £350.00 Xbox One in 2014 (with games) - £250.00 Nintendo Switch at launch in 2017 - £280.00 Total = £880.00 And here's the potential cost of the PS5 and an Xbox One Series X... PS5 at launch in 2020/2021? - £600.00? Xbox One Series X at launch in 2020/2021? - £700.00? Total = £1,300.00 I won't say that I'd never purchase either of these consoles but, in any case, probably not at launch, I wouldn't have the money to do so anyway and even if I did... I'm still not sure if I would buy either of them even if there was one exclusive launch title which I really wanted. I think maybe I've reached the point where I'm fine with not partaking in the next console generation, at least initially. Now watch as Sony announces a brand new InFamous game/remaster for PS5 from Sucker Punch and Microsoft announces Perfect Dark 2 from Rare. (yeah, right)
  12. I'm sorry to hear that @Julius That sounds like a tough situation, I hope things start to look up for you and your family soon. It seems like everyone is going through stuff right now, or has been for some time and this current situation has brought a lot of stuff to the surface, or caused many of us to look at things a little differently, in many ways. But if anything good can come from this, then I think it's having the chance to help others where we can. If you want to talk about stuff, if it'll help, let me know. Just send me a PM/Discord request, or talk about it here. Whatever helps, and I'd extend that invitation to anyone on the forum who wants to talk; I know not everyone does and that we've all got stuff going on, but if we can help each other, then that can only be a good thing.
  13. Damn, I'm sorry to hear that @Happenstance That doesn't sound good at all. I take it you were on good terms before this happened? You were sending him something for his birthday, so I'm guessing you must have been. But, I just can't comprehend it. This post probably isn't that helpful, if you do want to talk about it though, you can always send me a PM/Discord request, or talk about it here. I know it's not always the same as talking to someone directly or on the phone, but it's something.
  14. I ended up playing this for a whole two hours yesterday, for the first time in two weeks. Seeing as it was one of the island residents, Reneigh's birthday yesterday, I thought... why not. Loading up, I collected my mail, I got an 'A' rating from the Happy Home Academy, despite the house being full of clutter? (what's that all about?) Oh well, wall plaque get! Then, I set about clearing out a load of stuff I didn't want/need and stuff that I don't think anyone else would really want, mostly all that Bunny Day stuff though I did keep a few bits of clothing and other items which I don't want which might be useful to anyone on here, so there's that... it'd mad though, I have enough stuff to sort out in reality and now I'm collecting digital items which I don't need. Paid off the second bridge construction, and some of the loan (second one I think? the one where the house is one floor and only slightly bigger) and checked out the shop, again... second upgraded shop I think? Picked up a table, fan and... everything including a kitchen sink, it would seem. I celebrated Reneigh's birthday for about all of five minutes, I was asked if I'd brought a present... so I said yes and there was a Giant Clam that I'd just picked up off the beach, that seemed to be appreciated, so that's good and then I set about moving a load of fruit trees because I realised a while ago that I had too many of them packed together, which is why they haven't grown; now there are different fruit trees around most of the residents houses because... I don't even know why, it just seemed like something which needed doing. Maybe I'll start playing it regularly again, at least for half an hour a day... or, so long Gal Da Val Island, see you again in two weeks!
  15. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate spirits event themed around the N64 launches this Friday Will be live this Friday, themed around the Nintendo 64, the event focuses on characters which featured in N64 games. This event will run for five days, giving you a decent amount of time to add some more spirits to your collection, after which time they will appear in regular rotation. Once again, Nintendo have outdone themselves with the promotional art for this one, I always liked the Japanese N64 console packaging.
  16. Skelattack launches on the Nintendo Switch eShop Skelattack is being produced and presumably published by Konami, it is developed by Ukuza and is available on the Nintendo Switch eShop right now, for the price of £15.99 Well, it might not be a new Castlevania game, but it's certainly a step-up from Pachinko machines... It's good to see Konami seemingly getting more involved with game development again, this is a step in the right direction hopefully.
  17. I've never been a huge fan of the regular Sega Game Gear console, in fact, I have no desire to play the original console at all. Now a mini version? Smaller than a GBA Micro? With four games on the system for £40? Nope... it's a nice concept, I love the ridiculous fact that it has a screen magnifier accessory, which... would still be too small to see comfortably; I just couldn't justify buying this. I do like it though on a nostalgic level and it's a cool celebration item for Sega's 60th Anniversary but I'm kind of hoping that they will have more to announce soon. On the subject of actual Game Gear games though, I do own a select few cartridges and one boxed game, recently I bought two of the Sonic games cheap so I could play them. Not on an actual Sega Game Gear but on the Mega SG via the new cartridge adapter, I'm hoping to try out a few of these games soon, namely the main Sonic titles and a few others.
  18. I hope you enjoy playing this excellent JRPG. Here are a few tips... Talk to EVERYONE - Lots of NPC's will have sidequests for you which will get you rewards and help you in your quest for grinding. Collect EVERYTHING - You'll see small orbs of light scattered around the area, these are items ranging from quest related to bugs & plants, which you'll get stamps for. Go EVERYWHERE - Xenoblade Chronicles is a game which rewards exploration, it's worth exploring every inch of the map, you might find a few surprises. Start off slow - Take on the lower level enemies first, maybe only go a level or two above you once you reach levels five to ten, increase from there, that should help. Embrace the battle system - Fighting mechanics in this game seem to come more naturally in this game, it doesn't take long to get into once you've learnt the basics. That's all I can think of right at the moment. I've had my copy for a few days but I haven't started it because I know how much of an undertaking the first game is, but I do intend to start it soon, though I also am going to start playing Bug Fables so maybe not that soon, unless it really is possible to juggle both of these games. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on that seeing as you'll be playing both, unless you've finished it already?
  19. Nintendo posts "The Download" video for May 2020 Seeing as May has been quite a month for game releases, I thought it would be a good time to start posting Nintendo's monthly "The Download" videos. In the article, you'll also find links to all of the games, which go to the relevant Nintendo UK eShop page. (these are non-affiliate links) Also, a brief update on any recent reviews which will be coming to the site soon. (only reviews which are past any embargo date) Enjoy, and let us know if there's any upcoming game you'd like us to review, we'll do our best to cover what we can. We've been quite busy on the reviews front over the past month or two (at least), there will be more reviews appearing on the site soon.
  20. New page, new start? I found a recent quote which essentially stated that... "You'll be able to plug your external HDD from your Xbox One, straight into your Xbox Series X and play Xbox One games, one the new console, directly from the HDD" I like the idea behind that and hopefully it will extend to other games on the hard drive as well, from Xbox original games, Xbox 360 and Arcade games. Making things simple for potential users who already own the previous/current platform, to just move stuff across easily, is something worth doing, providing it's easy to do so.
  21. Settle it in a Deathmatch on Doom.
  22. Did you decide on either of these in the end? It's a game related dilemma I can appreciate because Bug Fables looks like an incredible Paper Mario pseudo-sequel, with tonnes of its own charm and humour. Whereas Xenoblade Chronicles is another easy sell because it's probably one of the best JRPG's of the past decade that I've only partially played. I'm wondering if it's possible to play both in rotation although it might lead to getting burnt out on JRPG's... if that's possible.
  23. Generally, I would agree, it's just that these are pretty small games to begin with, but I know that when it comes to bringing these releases into the physical realm, the cost is likely the same, so the price for each game in the same, it just would have been nice if there was some kind of way in which Limited Run Games could have offered a discount at the very least for buying both of these games at the same time; they don't need to though as they know that these games will sell, whatever happens. Either way, these are both great games and I believe each of them has a stack of great (mostly free) dlc... so at the very least, all of that will be on the game card(s) but I still think in this instance, I can't justify ordering these and that the money that I could have spent on these could go towards something like the Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection perhaps? Which even that is seven (technically) Neo Geo games, some of which you can already get as part of the ACA Neo Geo range, but they are different ports and there is a previously unreleased version of Samurai Shodown V in there. Anyway, I am glad to see both Blaster Master Zero games get more recognition and it's good to know that there will be physical copies out there but I'll likely stick with the digital releases for these games, as I don't feel the need to buy these, plus I need to save some money where I can.
  24. The pre-orders are live for both Blaster Master Zero & 2 but personally, I can't justify it in this instance. I already own the first game from when it came out, I did plan on picking up the second one but these are £8.99 games... If it was both games on one cartridge, then maybe but while each game getting a separate release is cool, £30 + per game and the shipping etc is not so cool. Especially after the whole Streets of Rage 4 pre-order thing, I'm out.
