I ended up writing a little news article about it over the weekend. The game looks fantastic and although we likely won't see media from the Switch version for a little while, it's good to see that it's in production. Now I've just got to play through the first game in the meantime...

A pretty decent video here from Top Hat Gaming Man on the History of the Game Boy, which has some interesting pieces of information and some cracking games. It might even be worth watching @drahkon if you were looking for inspiration for which games to choose for your Video Game Club thread. Gotta love Super Mario Land 2, an absolute classic.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Virtual_Console_games_for_Wii_U_(North_America)#Nintendo_Game_Boy_Advance 74 games released to date (and probably ever at this point) on the Wii U VC. That's the American list but I don't think it differs wildly from the European releases. Some fantastic titles on there.

If you do happen to be popping in to this fantastic retro gaming shop regularly... I noticed they have some Neo Geo Pocket Color games in the cabinet. Just on the off-chance... if they happen to have any of these titles in the PAL UK plastic clamshell boxes... Magical Drop Pocket Pocket Reversi Evolution: Eternal Dungeons Cool Boarders Pocket I'd be willing to send you the cash for them, plus postage, plus a finders fee if you'd be so kind as to keep a look out for them please. It is really, very, very unlikely they would come up but... I figure that with the amount of stuff they have in that store just from looking at the video, that'd be the place if they did. I mean, these aren't cheap games either but in comparison to the highest priced game they showed off in the video (£1,600 or something?) I don't think all of those combined would even match that... though they would come close to the four figures I'd imagine as their price has really shot up within the past few years, heck even in the past few months. Why did I decide to get into Neo Geo Pocket Color collecting in 2018? I keep asking myself the same question. It's a damn cool system to collect for though, that's for sure. Anyway, I hope that soem Retro items come up in the shop that you're looking for @Hero-of-Time and that maybe some of the items on our "wishlists" might too. Maybe we should make you up a shopping list or a database of titles to look out for? (I'm partly joking, but it is very good of you if you are offering to look out for retro titles on the off-chance) Of course I'm more than happy to do the same on my end as well, as I'm always on the lookout for Retro games and I do frequent charity shops and sometimes car boots plus CEX so you never know your luck. I think all of us retro gamers have got to stick together when collecting stuff well... unless we're all after the same thing but that rarely seems to happen.

Having a gaming bookclub is a good idea, especially for SNES and Mega Drive games. If we are to do this though, may I suggest that we start off with games which are on the SNES Mini for Super Nintendo titles and on the MegaDrive Classics for MD games? While I realise that most people may well have "access" to lots of these titles, not everyone will want to play the games unless they are either on original hardware or an official compilation. I don't wish to start anything over the ethics etc, I'm just trying to help get this thing off the ground as I think it's a good idea. So naturally, I think starting with titles which have had a recent re-release on an easily obtainable officially licensed device or compilation might be a good way to go.

Sorry, only just seen this as I just got in from work. Let me know if you're hunting on Sunday, I should be about more then. In the meantime, happy hunting and I hope you get the required drops.

Of course they'd announce making the drums available for Europe after I'd ordered TWO drum sets from Japan. Ah well... I ain't even mad. The game is coming out in physical form, this more than makes up for it and now I have two sets secured at least in case there's shortages. Just how many frum sets can you set up with this game simultaneously anyway? Y'know... just out of curiosity.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe League 2018 (Final results now in)

Yeah but... there's no chance it'll... ...actually be... exactly... 28 minutes. *finishes watching the Direct at 15:28* I swear it was just a guess!
-
Probably around 28 minutes. (I don't actually know, this is just a guess based on previous directs)

OK then... "On the subject of the reviewer though, that's pretty bad form on their part." -

Well, one thing is for certain... the Easy Allies review definitely isn't compromised! On the subject of the IGN review though, that's pretty bad form on their part.

*nods* *sighs* *cancels pre-order* Reason - "Other" "I refuse to be dictated to by Activision on the subject of how I'm "allowed" to consume the games I own once paid for, all games on the disc(s) or no sale. But what does one cancelled pre-order matter in the grand scheme of things?" I guess that'll do for now, maybe I'll pick it up somewhere down the line, maybe I won't, maybe I'll just pick up the originals before the price goes up even higher... ...or maybe I just won't bother playing Spyro afterall. It's a shame as I believe that Toys for Bob aren't at fault here and have done their best but ultimately... fuck Activision.

Also worth noting that I pre-ordered the physical version of this game on the strength of @Mr-Paul's fine review. It's £20 on Shopto for either the Switch or PS4 version, I know it's £8 more than the eShop but... that boxart. I missed out on this one during the Wii U era.
-
Yeah... I don't know what I was thinking when I pre-ordered on the Nintendo Store. I just checked on ShopTo and I have it pre-ordered already for £37.86 so I cancelled that other order, as it's effectively nearly £20 for another figure I don't really need. Anyway, just over three weeks now!

Hmm, the better option might be to buy a new SNES, if you get one of the "one chip" models, then at least that would be good for hooking up via a decent RGB Scart cable.
