There's no need to jump from 1 to 100 over this. We had a discussion and now we'll just move onto something else.
-
I'm all for having a meaningful discussion.
-
Yeah, I agree. I regret posting at all!
-
Dem press releases. Yeah, that last bit makes no sense whatsoever. If their comments were ultra positive, would that make their opinions more valid, simply because they align with your thinking? Maybe it's the other way around, perhaps because it goes against your viewpoint that you find it hard to believe.

What do you say when there's nothing on tv that you want to watch? You say something along the lines of "there's nothing on TV tonight". You don't say "actually, there are 200 channels with a program each hour until midnight, etc, but nothing I want to watch". You get the picture. Gaming is not simply a box-ticking exercise and you can't just say "oh, this is a racer. You like racing games, get that!" because that's a rather simplistic way of looking at it. I don't think they should be patronised because they are 10 years old. They're gamers too and their words suggest that they like the hardware but that there are not enough games (or games for that audience) to persuade them to buy it now.
-
The bold games are the games which are available now. Children don't give a shit what's out at Christmas (or Q3/Q4) and to suggest that shows a lack of understanding for that audience. If a child is going to buy a new games console, they want to know what they can use it for now. Fucking LOL at expecting 10 year olds to give a shit about E3.

Haha, I did think that for a moment. Actually, they're very perceptive and quite an intelligent cohort. They talked about the Switch (and gaming in general) quite maturely and we regularly chat about the medium in the morning before lessons start.
-
It was a funny day in work. Some of the children were looking at pictures of the Switch and were using it for their work, which was about creating advertisements. The discussion came down to this: "It looks nice! (the neon one, not the grey one)" "You can detach the controllers, which is quite cool. But the controllers look a bit lame, so we'll probably just get a Pro Controller anyway." "There are no games for it." I thought it was really interesting. When it came down to whether or not they'd buy it, one kid said he'd definitely pick it up and the rest just alluded to that they wouldn't know what to do with it without games.

I've found myself thinking about this game a fair bit at work today. I love Trico. I want one.
-
This is £19.99 on PSN as the Deal of the Week. Fantastic price for an awesome game!
-
I started playing this today and haven't been able to put it down. Must have played for 6 or 7 hours. It's just fantastic. Trico is one of the greatest video game companions of all time! I'm just shocked that the game has spent this long in the oven and isn't completely crap! It's actually good! Haha.

So sorry to hear what you're going through, @nightwolf. Wishing you all the best. *internet hugs*

I love Sundays! I've popped The Last Guardian into my PS4. Looking forward to starting it!

After playing Metro 2033, I decided to go straight ahead into Metro: Last Light Redux. The game essentially functions as Metro Part 2. It carries on after the events of 2033 and features the same sorts of themes and conventions. I had a fantastic time with Last Light and once again fell in love with the harsh world and characters of Metro. The game has more of a focus this time around on the human characters that exist in this world, rather than just being a struggle with the mutants. It's essentially a story about how humans still cause conflict amongst themselves, set to the backdrop of a nuclear war. The visuals on the surface are fantastic and the game still contains that classic claustrophobic fear of life living in the Metro tunnels. There were only a few frustrating moments. Just little niggles where it felt like the shooting sections went on a tad too long or that it was quite difficult to see certain enemies due to a combination of the dark lighting and then being blinded by their headlight. The story has caught my interest and now I'm tempted to get into the Metro books to fully immerse myself in this world. Apparently there's a new Metro game in the works, too! The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

Really? No Gamepad functions at all? That's a bit lazy of Nintendo. Might just go for that then, but may use a Pro Controller for it. Maybe. I dunno. I'll let @Eenuh figure this one out. -

Are you playing with the Gamepad or Pro Controller? -
We have a 3DS...somewhere. I want to play that too but I just know that I'm not going to get around to it. I don't find the DSLite/3DS that comfortable to play for long periods of time and I prefer to do my gaming in big chunks. We've got a WiiU and we have had a chat about getting Zelda for it. In the end, we decided not to because of the controller. I don't like the Gamepad, it's too bulky and obtrusive. Not particularly fond of the Pro Controller either. I can't say I'm especially keen on using the Switch or Joy Cons for that either. Basically, I want to play the game but the hardware just isn't for me.
-
Sure, there are merits to it. But, I'm not fond of handhelds at all and don't particularly want or need them. It's the USP of the Switch and it just doesn't speak to me. I agree with those listed points that you've made. I'm somewhat proud of myself that I haven't been weak and just paid the money because "it's Nintendo" because I think that I might have regretted it as I have done the WiiU. We'll see how E3 goes and beyond that. It's a lot of money to spend on a "Nintendo box" though.

I didn't actually see the first half as I was at work, but managed to follow it through radio and live text. I caught most of the second half on the car radio and saw the final 20 minutes when I got home. If one or both players are seen to be doing something they shouldn't, i.e. throwing elbows, then they should receive bans. No need for that in football. The sport is already tainted enough as it is.
-
If I were to buy one now, it would be purely for Zelda (which does look awesome) and for the fact that it's new Nintendo stuff. I also know that I'd probably regret it a few months/years down the line when it's tucked away in a corner somewhere and I've run out of stuff to play on it/grown bored of it.

Starting to lose patience with Pogba. He doesn't do enough for me, regardless of price tag. Looks flashy on the ball, but doesn't do that much with it and is useless off it. Herrera is more important to United than Pogba. Well done to Bournemouth for getting a point from that game. That's much needed. But, disappointed that United couldn't get another goal with a man advantage.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

I've tried it and didn't really enjoy it. I like viewing N-E the same way on my phone as I do on my laptop. -
I've only just caught up on this thread (and that other one) as I've had a long day at work. I'm a little bemused to see friend codes being talked about. I thought Nintendo had moved away from them. It was a stupid system at the time and it's bizarre that they've stuck with it up til now. The term "friend code" now has a negative meaning and even using the term just gives the impression of an outdated Nintendo.

Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

I don't even know if they exist any more. I haven't had one in years! I really want one now...
