Sequels you would like to see
Fierce_LiNk replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I've only played a bit of this, but I very much enjoyed it. I thought a sequel was meant to be in the works? Did it get cancelled? Just thought of another Sequel I'd like: Little King's Story. I've not finished the first one, but a sequel on the WiiU with you being able to organise your "army" with the touch-screen...mama! I want. -
Had a lovely evening with some friends last night. They came around and we played some Mario Kart Wii, Double Dash, Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. Mortal Kombat was hilarious, as it's been a long time since I played it so forgot everything, whilst one of my friends was spamming...and pretty much won every game. We all had tears in our eyes at one point, it was too funny. Mario Kart Wii is dreadful, though. Double Dash is far superior, especially the handling/weight of the vehicles. Also, the tracks are just better. My friend also offered to sell me his 360 for 30 quid, which is quite an insane deal. I weighed up the pros and cons. The more I think of it, the more I realise that there's not really anything that I want to play on the 360, or desperately want to. Can't justify spending more money on a console when I've got too much of a backlog. We're going to watch the fireworks tonight down by the pier. I hope it doesn't piss down with rain.

Twilight Princess is a much more moody game. So, the colour palette had to be darker otherwise it would have looked a joke. Also, the entirety of Lake Hylia is picturesque. The music is gorgeous and I feel a sense of wonder whenevver I'm in it. The one thing that Skyward Sword has over TP is Skyloft. But, in this instance, everything else > Skyward Sword's locations, which are poor. People mention that there's not a lot to do in TP, there's even less to see in Skyward Sword...there's no connection between places. There are 3 random locations (fire, desert, forest) that are placed on a map with no link between each one. Also, lol, cutscenes in Skyward Sword. Yeah, they are both better games than the majority of what else is out there. I'll never understand the hate TP gets. Just as I'll never understand the love Mario Kart Wii gets.

You should watch it. It's a great film. The music is a particular highlight. Happy with my victory. First one of the campaign, wohoo. Even happier with my DVs. My goalie is already on 10, one of my defenders is already on 9 whilst another two are on 7. Looking great so far. Form values are decent, too. I'm hoping some of my players will double jump at the end of this year.

One of my favourite songs. - one of my favourite songs These two songs are very special to me. My Mum used to have a record player and would play these songs in the house. Getting a bit teary listening to these. Some of these probably don't work, but they were important songs for that era.

All of you guys choosing Twilight Princess are insane. I'm watching Ine play through it a second time and it is filled to the brim with cut-scenes and cinematic moments. After playing Skyward Sword, I was so disappointed at the lack of these types of moments. In fact, the Skyward Sword "story" (or the terrible excuse for it) is so poor in comparable to TP. Also, I love the style of TP, like with the architecture at times. Think of the Great Bridge of Hyrule, it looks like an impossible design, suspended over Lake Hylia. There's many moments like that in the game. Finally, excellent shout on Monkey Ball Banana Blitz...it really is quite poor. Multiplayer is atrocious and single player is ruined by boss fights.

I'm just going to highlight the irony of your post. If ITV offends you, just don't watch it, hmm? I have three choices for who to kill, so I chose the three most annoying people that I could. The three that annoyed me the most. I can't stand Beyonce or her music. At one point in my life, there was simply no escape from it. Thanks to where I lived in the past, I was surrounded by people who solely listened to her music. Every music station I could get my hands on, be it telly or radio, she was there. Nothing excites me about her voice, I find it very grating. We all could quite easily just kill mass murderers or something, but I don't think that's entirely the point of the thread. I'm sure Daft doesn't think James Nesbitt is the scum of the Earth (he probably does). There are far worse than these people. But, I have three options, and...Beyonce is one of them. I don't feel guilty whatsoever. Word.

The obvious solution to all of this is to just use The Bard's photo. Then, when you get lucky and meet one of them in real life, use your millions of GBP made from Pokemans to transform your face so you look like The Bard. Just the face. Keep the white body intact. Or smile in photos. Whichever is easier.

Thank you Thank you Thank you! : peace: Didn't know it was as simple as that. Brilliant.

@dazzybee @/nando/, help a bro out, pleease? I'm playing with the Wii pointer controls and with the settings on automatic. I've tried playing on manual and I find it a bit trickier. Am I right in assuming that the ball pretty much stays on the ground all of the time now, at crosses, for example? So, with automatic, you can select when you want to cross and the computer will loft it in. How do you add height onto the crosses or passed in manual? At the moment, when I try it, all of the crosses just slide along the group. Help meeee. Also, are there additional effects to unlock in the game? So, can you unlock additional weather effects? If so, how?

3 months ago, I would have been right on that. Damn you, backlog!

Given that the Wii has been out for quite some time now, we've all experiences its ups and downs. Right now, let's focus on the downs! Which games did you find totally underwhelming? Perhaps even bad. There are three which came to my mind straight away. The Conduit Could be a love/hate game. There's nothing truly wrong with it, but there's nothing really right with it either. I found it very bland and quite emotionless. Controls are great, but there's no style to the actual game, or no interesting art, should we say. It's quite cold. Not a "bad" game as such, but nowhere near what High Voltage were pumping it to be. Mario Kart Wii Again, not really "bad", but quite "meh" in places. I think this was the point where I fell out of love with the series and lost the majority of my interest in it. Mario Kart DS was fantastic and arguably could be the pinnacle of the franchise, offering somewhat meaty single-player options whilst also having online multiplayer for the first time. Wii just didn't have that same feeling as the others. At times, too random. Too much of a focus on weapons and the underlying nature of it being a karting game was undermined by this. All too often could you be screwed out of a first place position in the last corner, despite leading all race. Too unfair. Sonic and the Secret Rings I'm going off memory for this one, as I haven't played it for a long time. The original premise seemed great, it seemed unique and looked fun. Somewhere along the line, it seemed to go wrong. I didn't find it very fun to play, found it quite fiddly and it seemed to lose its charm fairly quickly. I may play it again to see how I feel about it now, but the first impression was that it was not a very good game.

Disgraceful, really. I feel sorry for those who have lost their jobs and for those who want to get into the industry but find the carpet is being pulled from under them. 30 years of service is incredible. A really cruel way to end it, though. -
You should be just as annoying when they watch the telly. When I was at uni, I was the hero of the house for having a Wii. We spent a looooot of time playing Guitar Hero. It was nice to have the Wii in the living room and being able to play a game with your friends who wouldn't normally play games. We did watch a lot more telly and some films, but Guitar Hero was central to our life. Of course, whenever I wanted to play anything for a prolonged period of time, like Super Mario Galaxy, I had to take the Wii back upstairs. Quite a hassle. Some games really lend itself well to social environments like my house at uni. Maybe if you get your woman to try something that's accessible, she might be more understanding. Or, you can play Trauma Centre and see the arguments unfold. Hectic Co-op to say the least.

Twins and Junior are both similar in that they are based around one ridiculous idea. But, like you say, they don't stray too far from it and turn it into a farce. Both very likeable films. The chemistry and interaction between DeVito and Arnie is fantastic, I really wouldn't mind seeing them in more films together. I want to see him play the villain again. I can't recall him playing a villain since the first Terminator film. (of course, not counting Batman & Robin, although he was the best thing in that) I wonder if we'll ever see a remake of The Running Man at some point. It's quite ahead of its time with the themes within it. Reminds me of Madworld the game.
-
I'd actually argue that he was far better in the first Terminator film. Genuinely scared me as a kid (then Robert Patrick's T-1000 came along and was even scarier- arrghhh!). The role of the Terminator was perfect for Arnie, but he had to play his part, too. The mannerisms and the acting with his eyes and robotic movements were fantastic. I've watched it over 20 times and each time I just nod at the end and think "he nailed it". Jingle All The Way is hilarious. I cry every time. You can tell he had a lot of fun with that one. Yes, the majority of his films are over-the-top, but that also makes them extremely watchable. I watched Twins the other day and it's still as fun as when I was a kid and watching it then.

I would go back in time and kill Ricky Gervais, meaning that there was one spot left on my list. Then, I would add you to said list, killing you before you had the chance to kill me. Then, Beyonce would die. Ha!
-
Haden, the Inception music in this thread has been most excellent. I've been listening to Time/watching the ending on Youtube for most of this week.
-
Ohhh, I've been waiting for this moment. I love anger threads. I haaate Ricky Gervais. I loathe him and his terrible "comedy".

Years and years ago, when I was just entering High School, I wanted to become an author. I remember our family bought a computer and I decided I would use it to help me write a story. I planned the story to be in 3 parts and would basically be an Aliens clone but involving Mummies coming back from the dead. I was heart-broken when The Mummy came out in the cinema about 6 months into writing this stuff. Literally heartbroken. I was about half-way through the book, on Chapter 19 or something and had already planned what would happen in the sequel. I rage quit and deleted the whole thing. There weren't that many similarities, my story was much better and had better action sequences. Also, no fucking Brendan Fraser. But, I was worried everyone would think I stole the idea from the film, so it had to go.

It really depends on what you're gaming/playing and what you're watching. There's seriously good examples of both, but also terrible entries, such as British soaps. If you were playing a war FPS, like a Call of Duty for 7 hours a day, I could see where maybe you'd get looked down upon. As far as gaming has come, there's still a crowd out there who see it as still "childish" or "aimed at teenagers who just like blowing shit up." But, even these games have their merits. Videogames rely on fast reactions, logical thinking, your ability to be constantly aware of your surroundings/threats, and these days they're quite cinematic. If I were a parent, I'm not sure I'd like to see my kid sat down playing a game or watching tv for 6 hours straight. You need breaks in between to be able to do other things, physical activity, etc. That may be why we're seeing a change towards games being shorter, or being able to play games in quick bursts. There's definitely some logic in there. Even these days, I rarely sit down and play games for 7 hours straight, purely because I don't have the time and there's too many other things I need to do. I've noticed I'm gradually watching less and less television. Mainly because the majority of what I have available to me (freeview) is just shite. The dilemma here is that we have one telly, which means that unless we're playing a game together, only one person can play at the time and the other has to find something else to do. Usually, I'm working out in the bedroom and Ine is playing Zelda or something (she's replaying Twilight Princess), or I'll play Pro Evo or something that I'm working through and she'll use the laptop or her 3DS.

I thought the loan signing of Carvalho was even more bizarre. Saw a classic comment on the BBC website that said that Mark Hughes is preparing well for the 05/06 season! I laughed. : peace: I think QPR will struggle. They'll stay up, because they should have enough quality now to stay up. But, I don't agree with their practice. They've basically assembled an entire team this season. Don't think much of his transfer activity so far. Only signing a striker now. And, that striker is Adebayor, who should have been signed much, much earlier in the window. No replacement for Modric? Chicarito will be fine. Berbatov needs selling for everyone's sake. He's not getting played and is far too good to sit on the bench and not make any appearance. Also, Rooney needs to be treated like everyone else. When he's not playing fine, he should be subbed. Too much special treatment for some players. It's unfair that the likes of Evans and De Gea can be benched when things go wrong, but Rooney gets to stay on regardless. Now that Van Persie is here, what about putting Van Persie up top and benching Rooney? It might mean that he'll need to perform a lot better than he did against Everton. More players should mean more competition for places. Van Persie is here now and is a United player. If it means our four strikers will now be competing for places, then brilliant - it'll bring out the best in them.

There's probably not a lot of things that I would do differently. I quite like my life now. I'd try to see friends and family a bit more because I'm not really great with that side of things. One thing I would do is go on a nice holiday somewhere, maybe Disneyworld with Ine or just somewhere really, really nice. To have a good memory. Day to day stuff, I've got a job which I love and I find is quite rewarding. I feel I'm making a difference there. I'd get a band going! That's one thing I've wanted to do for a very long time and I've just never done it.

Sequels you would like to see
Fierce_LiNk replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Gaming Discussion
It's just like in any football game really, you have to close the opposition down before they get a chance to "charge" up and go for goal. Easier said than done, I know. It can be a very hard game, but it's actually pretty fair in comparison to the likes of Mario Kart. I'd love a sequel to this. However, I want them to go down the Smash route and have tons of unlockables. Also, customisation, so being able to turn off items, charged shots/mega strikes would be awesome. Just to have the option there. As much as I love the game, the one thing I hate about it is the mega-strikes.
