The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch
Fierce_LiNk replied to darkjak's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I struggled to believe that this would be out in 2015 anyway, given that they were attempting to go down the massive overworld/open world route. Still, I can't say that I'm not disappointed as this is one of two WiiU games that I'm looking forward to. Think they're doing the right thing by not rushing it as there isn't really a reason to get the game out quickly. They should focus on creating a masterpiece and it should hopefully be seen as the "Ocarina of its time". The only issue is with the console itself and what state it'll be in by the time this game comes around. Realistically, it could be one of the final games on the platform. -
How do you know this? Is it just a rumour or is it actually going to happen? Will make my week if true. There's only one New Order. I want to play both, but think I'll start The Order first as that's meant to be shorter. How long is Wolfenstein? I've heard great things about that, too.

That's so last year, it's all about the streaming now! I guess I could do this, but I get almost all of my music from Spotify now. The small part that isn't comes from the radio. When Spotify eventually does come, I'm going to spam it to hell. Should make playing Drive Club that bit more awesome.

New X-Files Series Is Coming. I Believed!
Fierce_LiNk replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Chit Chat
I can't believe this is actually happening. The only downside is that it's just for 6 episodes. I'm hopeful that if the new series turns out to be good that they'll end up creating more of it. I'm sure that there is a big fan base out there for this still. -
You can listen whilst you game, which is why I want eet. I've been given three games to borrow over Easter from a friend from work. Wolfenstein, Far Cry and The Order 1886. I'm particularly chuffed about being able to play The Order, may start it tonight.

This x 1000. I can live without the other stuff. I just want Spotify. Then, I shall be complete.

Batman: Arkham Asylum & City Remastered
Fierce_LiNk replied to Happenstance's topic in Other Consoles
I'm...really happy with this actually. The thought did cross my mind that the two previous games are on last gen systems and Arkham Knight is new gen. I'd love to be able to go through all three on one system, especially as I've never played Asylum. -
In theory, you could get your mates to use Skype and communicate via that. You could also use a mobile phone, or PS4 chat, or mumble or something. The problem with all of that is that it's not convenient. You'd require more hardware and you'd have to worry about where you position that hardware. Having to have a laptop next to you just to communicate with this game or having to turn on a PS4 to just use the chat whilst playing a WiiU game is a pain in the arse.

The item-searching system in the game is...pretty shit if I'm being honest. I hated it. It's completely random what items you get and you can spend hours upon hours trying to find 3 of the same item or even just 1! Shadow of Mordor absolutely ruined this game in terms of the item-finding aspect. It was hassle free. You had different symbols attached to each item and when you highlighted an area on the world map, it would show you the symbols of which items could be found there. So, you knew that you could find a certain plant in that area so all you had to do was go there, search for a few moments and get it. It wasn't "herp derp, go to blue orb, this isn't the item you want, come back later. Herp derp, you don't want this either. Try again."

Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!
Fierce_LiNk replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I'm still confused about what the WiiU is meant to mean or who it is aimed at. I haven't really seen an awful lot of improvement since with their advertisements and for me they have never really rectified the problem. I still think it was a mistake going with the Wii brand again when the audience had moved on. -
I track, it's between 3100-3500. I think it's actually because I've been getting ill, thanks to working in a school. It suddenly hit me around 10 o'clock today and most people are becoming tired/ill in work as the end of term approaches.
-
I always think that if you're going to do away with one system, then the replacement needs to be better than what is currently there. What's the alternative to away goals? Penalties? Is that really better?

You make a compelling argument. Ine has just told me that we have some vouchers for Sainsburys that total around £30...tempted to use them on Bloodborne.

Nintendo and Online Gaming. What's The Deal?
Fierce_LiNk replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
You seem to be under the assumption that a game either needs to be quality or social. It can be both. Nintendo have prided themselves in the past on their ability to cater towards all demographics. Gamers who enjoying online multiplayer and social interaction should also fall under this bracket. I think it highlights, if anything, the fact that the audience that Nintendo are aiming their games/consoles towards are becoming smaller and smaller. -
I don't buy this whole argument about the game being so fast it doesn't require strategy. In fact, that sounds ridiculous to me. There are some who will approach this game with a strategy or who will adopt one. How on earth is that going to work if you can't communicate vocally with your team? Any team game by definition needs teamwork, otherwise...it would just be an every-man-for-himself situation, surely? The other side of it is that voice chat can work well on a social level. Miiverse connects gamers, voice chat also allows you to connect with your friends. You can catch up with those people who you don't come into contact with regularly. Think of it like a coffee catch-up, but doing it over a game instead. I've lost count of the amount of times I've caught up with mates when playing games, it's a good way to bond. I'm still a bit shocked over this because I'd have thought Nintendo would have put this in there just to cover all of the bases. There's no real reason not to include it.

Excellent first half and a careful second. There were a few moments where I expected Fellaini or Smalling to make a mistake and give away silly fouls, but both were very solid today. I lost count of how many headers Fellaini won in both halves of the pitch and I'm intrigued to know how much ground he covered today as he was everywhere. I'm loving the Mata-Herrera combination. They compliment each other well and are so comfortable with the ball. Both should be starting every game. I've also got to give Smalling and Jones some credit because they were great today together, didn't give away much. I'm a bit confused over the Gerrard red card because...it was just so unexpected! He was on, then he was off. I actually panicked for a moment and thought the ref had sent Herrera off. Skrtel was a bit lucky to get away with one in the final few seconds as he went in with a stamp on De Gea.

It's an interesting discussion, great thread! I bought The Last of Us remastered, Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, Metro Redux and GTAV, all on PS4. Personally, I'm very, very, very grateful that they were all remastered/re-released because I didn't own a PS3 or 360 last gen, so the only way I could play these would be to pick up another piece of hardware to give them a go. In this instance, if you never got a chance to play them first time around, then it's pretty cool to then be able to play the absolute best versions of these games on the latest piece of hardware. I doubt I'd have bought any of these had I already played them on the PS3. I don't necessarily think they're a bad idea in itself, provided that the actual upgrade is worthwhile. I wouldn't pay full (or even half price, I guess) to play the same version of an older game. Would I buy Super Mario Galaxy HD? To be honest, no. Mainly because I've already played the original and am not really in a rush to play it through again. It's also on a console that I'm not really fond of.

Whilst all of what you're saying is true, there does need to be some sort of progression. For Arsenal to go out at the same stage for the last 4 years would scream to me that there isn't progression there in Europe. The same for City. You do have to look at the draws but are the performances improving and do they look like they're closing the gap? In my opinion, probably not. I'm nervous for today's game and part of that is down to our unpredictability. We're so inconsistent that I could see us either winning 3-0 or losing 3-0 today. Both results are entirely plausible. It'll hinge on our midfield and whether we can actually create any chances.

@Goron_3, I'm thinking of you, brah. Sorry for your loss. Man hugs being sent your way as we speak.

Gaaah, that looks wonderful. I've not played an FF since...I don't know. Definitely didn't play anything from VII onwards. I remember enjoying Mystic Quest years ago on the SNES. I actually know very little about the games. The series is just linked by name, yes? As in, I won't have had to play X, XI, XII, XIII and XIV before playing this, right?
-
I can't say that I mind these remasters or ports too much. I'm the opposite, I'm very grateful! I can play Tomb Raider, The Last of Us and now God of War on the PS4. Going Nintendo only last gen meant I missed out on a lot, so if there's an opportunity for me to play these games without having to purchase more hardware, I'm for it.

Easier said than done. I feel like I'm constantly eating. I genuinely find bulking harder than cutting. Hahahha, you make funny joke LOL.

Ine, Ashley and I are playing Sports friends. I have no idea what's going on.

I actually really enjoyed that and it's one of my favourite WiiU games. The multiplayer was good with one playing using the gamepad screen and the others using the tv. A nice mixture/variety in gameplay, cool characters and vehicles. The track design is pretty good, too. The actual single player is miles better than Mario Kart's offering.
