Yeah, you don't need to complete the story to get new animals. The majority of the game takes place in survival. So, you unlock new animals, new chapters for the story, archives and items from the survival mode. It is the best part of the game and it is pretty fun to see which animals turn up in unexpected places. There was one playthrough where a gathering a chickens suddenly appeared on the map and I slaughtered every last fucking one, haha! Cheers for adding the story synopsis. I'd rather they just ditched the story entirely, kept it as the basic "humans are gone, animals rule" kinda thing and go with that. Add more challenges and areas to survival. Maybe even special moves for each creature or the more powerful ones. I'm glad that I played through it and I love the majority of it. But, those final four chapters have left a sour taste. It really lets the game down.

I've been playing Tokyo Jungle today and have a lot to say about it. First off, the game is weird as fuck. For those of you who don't know about the game, you basically start off as either a meat-eater or a plant-eating animal in a mode called Survival. It has rogue-like tendencies, so the animals you fight against are different each time, only the layout of the overworld stays the same. The game is a simple, yet complex. You kill animals to gain calories. Getting more calories upgrades you from rookie to veteran, then BOSS. The world is segmented into different areas, with each area containing flags/markers. By marking your territory, you claim it as your own and can set up a nest there with...yes...another of your kind. There are benefits to this, as you can gain other animals of your kind to wander around with you and you transfer to them when you die. They act as extra lives, very handy! Now, as you progress, you can find items. These items boost your stats in an RPG kinda way and you find these small USB-stick type of icons. Now, these unlock the next chapter in the story. You need to obtain all three before the next chapter unlocks, but you can't get any more until you finish that chapter. So, you're constantly switching between Survival and Story. Story mode starts off in a fun way. You take on the role of several different animals as you try to become the leader of that territory. Buuuuut...this mode falls off a cliff once you finish Chapter 10. Chapter 11 is pretty awful. Basically, you act as a hyena and have to work your way through the sewers to an enemy at the other end of the map in an ENFORCED STEALTH mission. Now, this sucks for many reasons: 1. You are fighting against Beagles (a breed of dog). Now, I know full well that I can destroy every single one of them pretty easily...but no, it HAS to be stealth and you can't be seen otherwise it's game over. 2. The checkpoints in this level are poorly placed. 3. It's just not fun to have to retry the same shit over and over again when you know you can do it better in another way. The next level that follows is also shit. You fight a sabre-toothed tiger, which is a decent fight. Once that's done, you fight a hyena (I think), but it's overpowered for some reason compared to every other hyena you find in the game. Now...if you die, you've got to do both boss fights again! Why they couldn't put a check-point after the first one I have no idea. Now, it gets worse. These USB-stick things contain archives that tell part of a story. Some of these are news articles explaining that animals are going crazy and are taking over, which is fine. The other half contain a completely nonsensical, shoe-horned story that...is just poorly told and explained. The final 2 chapters in the game are related to this. I've completed the final chapter and you have to make a choice. I made my choice and was taken to the credits screen. Yay. I went back and made the other choice and there is a boss fight that is COMPLETELY NOT LIKE ANYTHING ELSE IN THE GAME IN A SHIT WAY that really taints the whole experience. In the end, I gave up partway through the fight after dying for the tenth time and couldn't be fucked to finish it. It's a shame that the story mode falls off a cliff because the actual gameplay is pretty fun. Survival mode is great and it's what should be played the most. Story mode is complete bollocks after 10 and I do feel that it ruins what was a pretty fun game. I'd still recommend it, just don't feel compelled to complete the story mode as it's shit. To end on a positive: Survival mode also has a list of challenges which also help you unlock more animals. There's a tree-system in place. So, you beat the dog challenge to unlock the cat, beat the cat's challenge to unlock the tiger, beat the tiger challenger to unlock the elephant, etc. I just made those up, but you get the idea. It's fun to try to take down biiiiig creatures like Lions and Crocodiles with small cats, haha. There is a great sense of humour to the game and it's pretty fun being able to see how long you can last before dying. Survival is by far the best part of the game. Games of 2016 Flower - Finished Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Finished The Unfinished Swan - Finished Grim Fandango Remastered - Finished Race The Sun - Finished The Wolf Among Us - Finished Injustice: Gods Among Us - Story Finished The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone Ico - Finished Tokyo Jungle - Finished

I agree with this, although parity and userbase are definitely an issue. With the last two gens, an issue has been the controllers that Nintendo use and the under-powered Wii system. To make it absolutely easy for EA, it would need to be the same type of controller and architecture that they can simply move across with minimum effort. There would have been to be certain steps that Nintendo would have to take and certain mis-steps from Sony that would force me to go back to Nintendo exclusively. If all of the games that I wanted were on one system, I'd stick with one console. But, it also has to come down to value for money, ease of use, what the machine can do, etc. The bigger question for me is not whether I'll go back to Nintendo exclusively, but whether I'll get the next one at all! If Nintendo haven't learned from their mistakes, it'll be difficult for me to want to purchase the next one.

You're really reaching with expectations of Street Fighter and Final Fantasy 7/15 on the next Nintendo system. Third parties won't just be looking at the machines capabilities. They'll be looking to the past, present and future with Nintendo and their console/s. When was the last time a Street Fighter and Final Fantasy main line game came to a Nintendo system? We're talking SNES territory. That is over four generations ago...Currently, Nintendo have an image problem and the types of gamers that do want Street Fighter and Final Fantasy will most likely be getting it elsewhere. It just won't sell and it's too big an ask for the next Nintendo machine to be able to pull in big numbers in these types of games. The only hope we'll have of SF and FF on a Nintendo machine is if there's some sort of spin-off that utilises a special feature the NX has that the other machines don't. If the NX suddenly takes off and it draws in HUGE numbers of the right audience who will buy FF and SF, then maybe, just maybe. I'm intrigued to see what happens this gen with Nintendo and their next console.

It is pretty old. 2007 was its release date, so we're close to a decade. It is a bit ropey in places, but still good fun. 2 and 3 are a huuuuuuuge improvement. Tomb Raider borrowed a lot of stuff from this, which in turn is almost a spiritual successor to the original Tomb Raider games. IT'S THE CIIIIIRCLE OF LIIIIIIIFE.

Good job, brah. Keep going. Easter is a fucking sucker for gaining weight, especially as a teacher. We've had parents bringing in chocolate, kids bringing shit in and staff, too. I had a friend make me a big batch of chocolate brownies as a thank you for covering somebody else's fuck up. To top it all off, somebody made this most amazing...thing that I've ever tasted. I didn't know what the fuck I was eating, but it was delicious and I could feel the diabetes running through me. It was like a halfbreed between a brownie and cake with fruit in between, very crunchy on top. Motherfuckers. How am I meant to stay in shape when all of this is around me?

Yeah, it's actually amazing. I find the whole 3D printing angle amazing anyway. My mind can't quite get around how you can print an entire object. What a world we live in! -
We broke up for Easter yesterday and I wanted to come home, workout and play games for the rest of the night. What actually happened was that I came home, put Rise of the Planet of the Apes on and fell asleep on the sofa after that. Going to have to make up for it today! Seriously can't wait until we get a cage/power rack in our eventual new place. Today it's squats, overhead press and deadlifts, which means I have to set up the stands for squats, then move EVERYTHING (stands, bar, weights) to the other side of the room because we have a beam on our ceiling that prevents me from pressing before moving everything back again for deadlifts later. It's just fiddly as hell.

Thank fuck for that! That second video (the black one) needs to be watched. A pretty cool video. Also, it does point out how unergonomic it is and how it's a pain in the arse to hold and use. -
It's pretty good for discovering new stuff and for getting to try games that you wanted to play but perhaps haven't got around to it yet. I'd be happy/delighted with a bigger game every 4 or 5 months. Even so, I'm looking through this list and seeing tons of games that I've enjoyed, so I'm good as long as that continues.

I don't dislike the PS+ selections as much as some, but I do think that a few more of the better-known games should be thrown in. I do think that this will happen as the library continues to increase.

I bought the season pass as I had some unexpected back-pay from work. Enjoying the outer rim stuff and Extraction is good fun. Still getting a lot of joy out of this game and it's my go-to for shooters these days.

Really, reeeeeeally gutted about this. I adore DriveClub and was looking forward to seeing what else could come from this team. This is a shit situation.

I chose the "never" option and I'll explain why. When I was "into" the WiiU and played it a moderate amount, I remember trying the off-screen feature for the first time. I tried it with Need for Speed: Most Wanted. I looked at the gamepad screen, back to my telly, back to the screen, back to the telly again and wondered why I was playing it on this tiny screen rather than the bigger, better one in front of me. It was the same when I tried Arkham City. In fact, it was more of a pain to play on a smaller screen as you can't really see these beautiful worlds that have been created. Maybe it would be useful when somebody else wants to watch the tv? Well, not really. The problem with this today is that the world has changed. It's not just about live television these days. It's all about Netflix, Amazon Prime, LoveFilm, streaming services that let you access your content whenever you want and wherever you want. I find myself watching less and less live tv these days, mostly because it's shit. So, this scenario doesn't work for me. Basically, I see the whole off-screen thing as a half-baked answer to a question that nobody was really asking in the first place. A lot of households have multiple tvs these days and in an age where you can watch things anytime you want through tablets or laptops (or even phones), this doesn't really solve anything. But, there's the portability, right? This turned out to be really disappointing for me. We live in a ground floor flat and we can only keep the signal from Gamepad to the WiiU if we're in the same room. So, I can't play it in the bedroom and I can't play it in the garden. So, that's out. I have to also admit that I'm not filled with confidence with all of these NX rumours and images of another controller with a screen.

Based on those images, would I like to sit down for a 6 hour play session of the new Zelda using that controller? The answer is probably no. I'm hoping that it feels good to hold for prolonged periods of time. At the moment, I'm just seeing too many red flags to get me excited. -
I've already made my mind up not to read any reviews and impressions about this film. I don't tend to do it an awful lot these days as it skews your perception too much before you even take a seat in the cinema. I was initially against the idea of Batman in this film, but I've come around to that. I was also against Affleck, but the idea has grown on me. We'll see if the final product lives up to it, but I loved Man of Steel and I'm hoping that this continues that trend.

I'm a massive fan of Drive Club. Today was shit anyway but it's fucking ruined now!

I'm expecting Dortmund to give you a pasting. However, Klopp won't want to be humiliated by his old club, so he'll no doubt try to be clever about the entire tie. Dortmund should win that competition, mind. I thought United were great in the first half but massively took their foot off the gas in the second. We went too defensive and were asking for trouble, tbh. I wasn't a fan of what I saw, but we won the game and beat City, so that's really what matters for now. I did think Smalling was a lucky guy. He should have walked for a blatant second yellow, but the referee also shouldn't have given him his first as it was too soft a yellow and we should have had an obvious penalty. I didn't think the officiating was that great yesterday; it was all rather poor.

I've been listening to the soundtrack on Spotify, @Daft.

Oh mah gawwwwwwd, I LOVE 28 Days Later. Completely fucking brilliant film which has done so much for the genre. The Walking Dead and 28 Days Later have got a complete strangehold on that type of zombie/virus/infection theme. Nothing else matches up. The only thing that would complete close is that Night/Dawn(possibly Day) of the Dead films by Romero. But, I love the characters in 28 Days Later and it's refreshing to actually see this type of film set in the UK. It made the film much more enjoyable to me because I could relate more to these places, as I had been there. The Last Samurai is amazing. I remember going into it not expecting much but being blown away by it all. It's a really nice film. I particularly enjoy the ending, especially the last 20 minutes and that final shot. I've never known a person not to love Gladiator. It's pretty much on everyone's lists. Rightfully so.

Really? The original Nintendo DS is ugly as sin. They made it up with the DSlite which looks sweet as hell. I don't think the gamepad is that aesthetic either. -
...No. Bloc Party, the band. I'm not sure about this @nekunando apprentice thing, after all.

United...look quite good today. Rashford's goal was fantastic and he should have just been given a penalty. Wow, we could actually win this. Top four still on?
