Edge of the sofa means if you were sat really far forward, yes. I do both. I slouch when I'm tired and want to chill out and sometimes sit forward if I'm reeeally taking things seriously, like playing against a friend in FIFA or Smash or something. It's not comfortable to face forwards one second, turn around 180degrees whilst holding the WiiU gamepad (which is obnoxiously big anyway) before turning back again. You CAN NOT turn around a full 180 if your back is already on the seat anyway...same with the driving analogy. You turn to look at the blind spots, but to look at what's directly behind you comfortably, you use the rear view mirror. That's sensible, comfortable and practical. If you really HAD to use motion controls to see what's coming ahead of you, to the left, directly behind you, back to the left again, behind you, back to the front and to the right in quick succession, you'd have to be standing up. Playing FIFA 13 with the WiiU controller was a pain when I tried the demo. You have to keep looking down, up, down, up again and so on and so on. It's just far too much effort for what should be a simple experience. The game itself shouldn't be fighting the controls...the game itself is what you're doing on screen. Wut.

If Spurs win the league, Dazzybee is going to be unbearable. Think of the typos!

Sega Saturn Appreciation Thread
Fierce_LiNk replied to Falcon_BlizZACK's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Never had a SEGA Saturn. Not entirely sure why either since I loved THE MEGADRIIIIIVE and Master System. I guess that as a system it didn't seem as interesting to me as the PlayStation and Nintendo 64. -
So...I have been tempted by Street Fighter V recently, but decided not to get it as the singleplayer is apparently a bit sparse. Mortal Kombat X/XL looked appealing, but @Hero\-of\-Time and @Happenstance both recommended that I play Mortal Kombat 9 first and maybe try it on PSNow. I signed up to that for a free trial and decided to go and play another game first that I've known about for years but have never played...Ico. It's the first time I've ever used PSNow. A bit of a mindfuck when you think about it. I'm streaming a PS3 HD version of a PS2 game on a PS4 through PSNow. Arghhhh! First of all, the streaming service held up absolutely fine and I've had no issues with it thus far. So...onto the game. It's a bit fiddly at first getting used to the controls, but I quickly got over it. The camera is a bit strange, especially maneuvering it...but the action is always kept in the centre and it keeps the game feeling cinematic. It also helps you at times with knowing which way to go and I like how you can zoom in with the shoulder buttons. The puzzles in this game are fantastic. I LOVE the big puzzle to do with opening the East and West gate. It's very similar to the sort of stuff you see in Zelda, except the location is one big puzzle. At times, it does feel more visceral and raw than some of the latest Zelda games. I love how you've got to not only think about your character, but also Yorda and how she can help during certain puzzles. It's a great mechanic that works successfully throughout the game and never once feels like a novelty. I love how you at times have to leave the character and have to "call" for her and how you have the option to hold hands to drag her through certain areas. It's just fantastically well done. Outstanding game. I'm very happy that I've finally played it and now I see why so many people are anticipating The Last Guardian. 10/10 game, for me. Lived up to its promise and was not only a fantastic game, but an awesome experience. Sure, most people wanted Nintendo to do something with the controller...about 3 or 4 years ago when the WiiU is a brand new thing. It's on the way out. This game really should have appeared much earlier in the console's life-cycle. On paper, motion controls sound great. The reality is that they are a bit of a pain in the arse. Your example with "you have to physically turn around to attack them" is...just horrific imo. I don't know about you, but I don't game on a swiveling chair. I'm on the sofa. So, for me to have to turn around to attack an enemy coming from behind, I'd have to physically move right to the edge of the sofa in order to turn around or I'd have to stand up. Sometimes simplicity is best. Somebody in the thread earlier (Mr Paul, I think) mentioned just making StarFox like Rogue Squadron. I'd buy the shit out of that. Especially if it means I can come home after a long day at work and just play the game without having to piss about whilst doing it.

Oh man, I could've hummed that entire tune and could've explained what would appear next on screen there. I've seen that outro about a million times. I fucking loved the cartoon back in the day. I feel old. :'( I want to be 9 again. I went through a phase a few years back where I watched all of the old cartoons again, along with Batman: The Animated Series. Hnnnnnnggggg. Kid's tv is shit now.

Before watching this trailer, I decided to give it a chance and went in with the mindset that this was a completely new thing, not related to anything that has been done before. I can't say that I was overly impressed by that trailer. It just doesn't seem that funny, but that could be as a result of that trailer. The original humour from Ghostbusters is a bit dry and I'm not sure if it's something that comes across well in a short 2 minute trailer. I do think a lot of the novelty with the series is the fact that we grew up with it. It's the same with Back to the Future. The films are iconic because they did things that had never been done before and we were at that age where it was all new and exciting. Plus, the jokes have been referenced so many times in other forms of media and there have been cartoons (etc) that have been based off that source material. What would've been more interesting is taking the four stars here and starting something completely new and different. So that it could be the Ghostbusters-like film of this generation. Unfortunately, by taking the name Ghostbusters, they're inevitably going to be compared to the original films and it's just never going to measure up due to nostalgia and the influences that the film has/had (iconic status). A bit of a shame...this is just going to be seen as GHOSTBUSTERS WITH TITS.

Ighalo should have got about 20 goals tonight (slight exaggeration), the selfish fuck! We should have lost that game at least 3-0...would be so pissed off to be a Watford fan right now. Luckily, I'm not. So, I don't care.

I actually preferred the ending of this to the ending section of the other two games. I'm not one for boss fights and the ones in Uncharted aren't amazing. I liked how the ending segment played out. Glad you enjoyed it!

A trilogy HD/Remaster/Collection would be most welcome. I want to play all three of these before I give the new one a try when it eventually does come out.

A mate of mine joked about how hilarious it would be if City didn't get Champions League football next season, with Guardiola coming into the club. Would love it if we somehow nicked it off them. We played shite, but got three points. Maybe this is the United way!

I'm not really feeling much of a buzz or excitement about the NX. Compared to how exciting this place was before the Wii (REVOLUTION!), this isn't even on the same scale. God, that was a really fun time. The speculation, the anticipation, the mock-ups, the reaction when we found out the name, the reaction to the controller, that E3. The forums were buzzing back then, but I do think a large part of that was down to the energy that Nintendo were giving off and the whole excitement around what the future of games could be. It would be fantastic if the NX even manages to capture half of that excitement again.

Excellent thread and an idea that I've been thinking about for quite some time. The real answer is that...I don't think that there is an answer. I do genuinely think that games are already excellent value for money. I paid £35 for The Witcher 3 and have put hundreds of hours into it. I've bought multiplayer games that have lasted me for ages. Journey cost me a tenner, but both @Eenuh and I played it (she played it twice) and we both felt that it was a fantastic adventure for both of us to go on. So, if there is to be an answer, then it'd have to be something about how much "time" you'd spend playing the game. But, not every game can be 100+ hours long. Something like Everybody's Gone To The Rapture was less than 10 hours long...but it felt worth it to me. We all perceive value and value for money in different ways, though. Somebody may only spend 30 hours on Destiny and Call of Duty and perceive that as a disappointing experience or waste of time, but they may spend the same amount of time on Uncharted and consider that a great experience. Subconsciously, I think we all "attach" values to games and have a "jumping in point", if we don't intend to get it for full price. It could be that they know a game is going to plummet in price further down the line and they don't mind the wait, or maybe they know that a game is only getting a limited run and it's better to jump in now rather than pay three times the price on ebay later. How we attach the price is, I agree, an interesting idea.

I would say that the place is much more peaceful and relaxed. But, I'd also say that it's quiet. Compared to other forums out there, it's a great place. We need more members, as new blood will kick start this forum. I'm hoping that the NX really takes off as it could signal good things for this place.

It's a slight delay and one that I can deal with. Really looking forward to it.

German Volume Training? I've been tempted to try that, but it sounds absolutely fucking exhausting.

Happy birthdaaaaaaaay, Aniiiiiil. *screams like a fan-girl*

That was the most satisfying/enjoyable game that we've played in this season. It had everything. Rashford getting two goals, Memphis being class again, the youngsters doing a top job, the team attacking with pace and being feisty in midfield and LVG taking the piss and working the crowd. Fuck sake, why haven't we done more of that this season?! Delighted with the team today.

I'm still playing Sonic Generations. The gameplay is, for the most part, excellent. Buuuuut, the overworld design is so terrible. It's reeeeeeeally difficult to actually keep track of which levels you've done. I wish it was all a bit more simple, especially with the level progression. The whole "act 1, act 2" thing is a bit daft and it's confusing trying to find out how to unlock the boss gates. This does sum up the Sonic series in a nutshell. Great gameplay at times, but it's a far better game when it goes for simplicity. Who honestly gives a fuck about doing all of these challenges? Sonic traditionally could only run and jump...and he was all the better for it.

Should the UK stay in or opt out of the EU? It's a hot topic at the moment and I feel that we should have a thread here to talk about it. The referendum takes place on 23rd June...not too far away at all.

Losing has lost all effect now. My mates in work tried making a joke about the Europa league game the other night and just realised halfway through that, hmmm, technically it's just ANOTHER match we've lost. It's lost all impact now. Classic conversation with @Eenuh just a second ago. "Who? Shrewsbury Town? I don't even know where that is..." I expect us to lose every game now. Not joking. We do very little to win games and we never look convincing.

MadDog, I'm really sorry to hear that you've been through a very tough time. It's clear from the posts that people have made on here that we think you're a great guy and have been really brave and dignified throughout this situation. You are one of the regulars and one of my favourite posters in the football thread. There's nothing really we can say except that we're sorry you've had to go through this and that we hope you can enjoy what time you have left here. Take care, dude.

Wonderful player. Think West Ham may have a fight on their hands to keep him in the summer. I quite enjoy watching West Ham and I'm glad to see them doing well in the league. I could see them finishing above us.

Isn't that the same with PSNow? If I managed to get through all of Ico, finished the story for Mortal Kombat and played through one of the Uncharted games within a month, wouldn't that be worth it? It'll take you longer to play a game than it will to watch a single movie. If a tv series like Arrow (what we're watching) has about 20 odd episodes, that's 20 hours of content. Games are massive time-suckers and I could see myself easily using the service for that long. A tiered pricing system would be great. Could it work on a timed basis? So, 15 hours of gaming for £5? Or something to that effect. Maybe it could work like television where you pay for just the sports game or just the action-adventure titles. There's lots of different ways of doing it. For that to work though, the catalogue would have to be muuuuuch bigger.

It is pretty cool being able to go through this list of games and know that I've not played a single one of them. There's a lot there that I've already decided that I want to play. What will make or break it is how often they plan to add games to it. I hope that they eventually put PS1 and PS2 games on there as there's a lot that I missed out on. Sonic Generations is awesome. It's probably going to save me a bit of money in the long-term because I won't need to actually buy a PS3 and I won't need to go out and purchase these games. I'm not bothered about the whole "you don't own the game" argument because...it just doesn't bother me. I already stream my tv, film and music and it hasn't affected me one bit. I look at my CD collection and can't remember the last time I even took a disc out of its case. Maybe that's the culture we're going towards now. I agree that I think the price is a bit too high, but it does come down to perceived value for money. It's the same with Netflix and Spotify really, if you use it regularly, then it actually becomes a steal in terms of price. I'm hoping that they continue adding games to this library because that will tempt me to pay a regular subscription or not. I'm just delighted that the thing even works at all because I still find the concept a bit mind-blowing.
