Thanks very much that's brilliant, I'm probably not likely to watch Age of Ultron so the summary was really useful! I imagine there'll be a ton of easter eggs and references to other characters but hopefully they've made the show for somewhat newcomers to enjoy enough.
-
I'll be watching Wandavision in the next couple of days, and as someone who's not really a Marvel fan is there anything I need to know about the characters or setting that'll help me get through the series without being completely lost? Any brief insight would be great All I know is Vision is Iron Man's ex-AI somehow made walking and talking and who *spoiler* in Endgame.

The Xbox One controller is rubbish? Since when? I thought everyone loved it. And then they release a model for the 1%, hardcore gamers, who also (from what I hear) love it. Sony making it impossible for backwards compatibility on PS4 isn't a good thing, or in any way disregards Xbox's push for it. It's a great service that's there if you want it. Dismissing Game Pass because music and film did it previously? Really? What does it matter... it's an incredible service! At the end of the day, I realise that Microsoft is doing all these pro consumer moves because they have to, they lost last gen and are trying to make up for it. Obviously it's all a business. If PS4 had lost then Sony would be making some pro consumer moves. The point I was making wasn't about MS v Sony, just that putting the reasoning aside, Xbox have made some good moves under Phil Spencer and gotten a lot of respect back, so I found it surprising to read yesterday's news. Though the net result from all this is actually another positive step, no need for Live for F2P.

Yes, I don't like either term. Backwards compatibility on Xbox One? Xbox Elite controller? Adaptive controller? Game Pass? Xbox One controllers work on next gen? Cross play moves with Nintendo/Minecraft? Putting their games on other platforms? Smart Delivery? Play Anywhere? xCloud game streaming with GamePass? Since Phil Spencer took over they've been the gold standard for "pro consumer". Until yesterday, (which they've now walked back).
-
Oh come on. Much as I hate the term "anti-consumer", Microsoft since Phil Spencer took over are as far away from that as possible of the three. They've made tons of pro consumer moves in recent years, until yesterday's announcement.
-
Probably because NoA are only in charge of distribution, localisation and marketing. It's the same as Reggie, just a PR mouthpiece for the West for what Nintnedo of Japan do.
-
Really weird for a big company to announce a price hike and then U-turn the next day. Makes them look really amateurish and unsure of themselves, like they're making it up as they go along. It's hard to get too upset given the years of pro consumer moves and the incredible value of gaming on Xbox... but the whole thing just feels really suspect.

He'll definitely be making his own platform, he's suggested as much, television network I think is the popular theory? He'll come up with some mouthpiece but given he was only taken off Twitter 10 days ago (out of the blue) and probably had other things on his mind nothing was going to be up this quickly. Anyway, good f-ing riddance, apart from Trump's embarrassing goodbye "me me me" speech, yesterday was a fantastic day.

Started playing this a couple days ago, and I'm a few hours in. Enjoying it a lot for the most part. I usually think it's good to judge games on their own merits, what they are, not what they're not, but when a game is so obviously ripped off an another, better, game it's impossible not to compare them, and so far, BOTW is 10x the game Immortals is. I didn't think the difference would be so obvious, but it absolutely is. What's become even more obvious is that Nintendo are master level designers, I could tell you the exact lay of the land in BOTW, the openworld was masterfully and purposefully designed. Even after 3 or 4 hours running around Aphrodite's area, checking the usual Ubisoft tasks off a list, I couldn't draw you a vague layout of the area if you paid me. It all kind of blends into on mishmash of activities. On the one hand I hate how you are told where stuff is. The beauty of Zelda is that you discover stuff organically, but when the game design is so heavily based around a million things to do, being able to uncover what everything is from far is probably necessary. Shrines vaults are a welcome break from the openworld and these are pretty fun so far, but again, without powers like freezing time, kinetic energy/innertia, electricity, making blocks of ice, bombs, magnesis (ok that one is here), a lot of them end up being pretty standard *push this block on this switch*. There's no range of gameplay because the tools simply aren't there. Like I said I don't mean to turn this into a BOTW is amazing, everything else is rubbish post, I'm really enjoying my time in Immortals, but it's so blatantly ripped off that it's just obvious to compare them. Immortals definitely does some things better though, the range of stuff to do is a step up, and even if the enemy AI is worse (how has Ubisoft not figured this out yet), the actual combat encounters are pretty fun. The game is gorgeous and while I tune out to a lot of the Zeus/Prometheus narration, it's there if you want it. I've not done a dungeon yet, looking forward to that, if they're even a thing in this game. Starting to think this game will get old and repetitive pretty quick though, like a lot of Ubisoft openworlds.

Yeah there'd be an insane backlash against that game if it were released today. ResetEra would have a field day. People really read too much into things sometimes all the time.

Well, that's another 70 million sales...

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury (12 Feb 2021)
Ronnie replied to Ronnie's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Good man! Yeah I think they described Bowser’s Fury as “short but action packed”. I’m expecting a couple hours worth. -
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (20th November 2020)
Ronnie replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Two and a half hours later (!!), I've just watched all the cutscenes on YouTube... fantastic! Surprisingly epic and well put together, the whole thing was really cinematic looking. I was never going to get along with the gameplay to actually play it, but I'm glad I could at least appreciate the excellent story this way. Really enjoyed that -
ResetEra will dine out on that thread for weeks

Then leave GX and get in touch with the new crew telling them to be careful, and maybe CC Andre in to make it transparent. Do it behind closed doors, don't run to the internet mob to sort it out for you. And if you absolutly have to tell the world about it then, don't go on for the longest statement known to man, destroying a man's reputation on the notoriously vengeful internet, all to garner sympathy and try to push the community they'd all built up and turn them towards your new thing. Derrick wasn't doing it to "change" anything. At least Derrick is happy now, and all it took was destroying someone else to get there.
-
Fair enough @Julius I hadn't heard the original passing comment on their podcast, I'd only read the statement part, but... Derrick didn't sound regretful in the slightest when he laid it all out, and it's incredibly naive for him to write paragraphs and paragraphs about Andre in his statement, and then throw in a line saying "please don't harass him" at the very end. As if this was his first day among the gaming community!? What did he honestly expect to happen. Personally, I don't feel there was a need to go that far. He writes "I am so much happier now"... great, it's just a shame he had to destroy the online reputation of "a close friend" to get him there. Again, I'm not saying Andre doesn't deserve being called out on things, but there's better ways of going about it.
-
If the bit about Steve or Derrick calling Andre 'one of their closest friends' is true, it's a pretty shitty thing to say, and then immediately throw Andre under the bus and unleash the gaming community lynch mob on him. Yes he deserves to be called out but there are other ways of dealing with the situation. Sorry situation overall, I hope Andre becomes a better person and the others put it behind them, after they've pretty much ruined his online life for years, let alone potentially his business which made them what they are today.
-
Good to finally get the other side of the story. The oh so mature chunk of the gaming community (who’ve obviously never made a mistake in their lives) will continue to try and ruin his life regardless of course, but good to see him admitting fault, apologising and already taking steps to rectify things moving forward. From watching his content for a decade I know he’s a good guy and doesn’t deserve the usual online witch-hunt.
-
I listened to pretty much every Gamexplain discussion over the years, what's really weird is how jovial and full of life Steve, Derrick and the others were on them, and how they were constantly joking around with Andre. Would love to hear the story from Andre's pov.

Slapping a 2 or a Part 2 at the end would be much more creative
-
Wow, much sooner than I was expecting! Looks great Visuals are good (by 3D Pokemon standards at least)
-
Yeah, but when the only real evidence put forth as to why they'll probably be announcing a brand new console in 12 months and releasing in 24 is "no Nintendo console has ever lasted longer than 6 years" then I think it's relevant to point to Nintendo themselves saying they want the Switch to last longer. Whether they end up course correcting on that or not, it's a fair counterpoint I think. Anyway, we'll see I guess!
-
Yeah, pretty much.

Like when he called Xenoblade 2 a 10/10 game, and then the following day that he hated it and would sell it before finishing? I guess I'm just surprised by the ethics (or lack thereof) of some people, but to each their own.
