  1. I had no idea about that either however I did find myself there a while back when I was doing some general web searching for Nintendo-related news. It looked to be deader than a dead thing from deadland so I never made an effort to find it again. Funny to read that resetera's iron fist rules with the mission statement of ensuring everything is all sunshine and rainbows because I remember it being a place where everything is nitpicked to hell and back and nothing is ever good enough. Could be my rosetinted glasses but I liked on NeoGAF that there seemed to be good, lengthy and knowledgeable discussions on RPGs to read through (I'd nothing to contribute with those boffins). I didn't see that transfer over. Would be nice if we had the activity of those sites but not if it comes at the cost of sickening everyone's enjoyment of everything. What're you buttering us up for, eh? It's cool that people like @Glen-i and @Mokong have a tool like Discord since Nintendo is still miles off the pace with in-game/on-console communication functionality. It's just unfortunate that it seems to be that some have stayed all-in on the forum while others have gone all-in on Discord (for whatever reasons that may be). It's weird because way back when we'd a chat room (pure chaos) and we had each other on MSN Messenger and forum activity didn't suffer. The main site even had different people commenting on articles compared to those of us discussing gaming news on the forum. Some might say that forums are a thing of the past--and I wouldn't necessarily dispute that; everything moves on eventually--though from my experience, Discord doesn't strike me as modern or user-friendly which is probably the part I struggle to get my head around most: why ditch an old-fashioned forum for a chat thing that has a steep learning curve? Is it because there's a Discord app and everyone loves apps nowadays? Tbh, I sort of feel like I got the Discord style of things out of my system more years ago than I'd care to admit. We've all only got 24 hours every day (not everyone is footloose and fancy-free like H-o-T!), and for me personally, I see Discord as something that's to be used as sparingly as possible and only as a last resort. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. These are coming too thick and fast--I wasn't finished shooting Pokémon yet.
  2. This time around I only picked up a dozen or so secret seashells, didn't veer off the beaten path too far for heart pieces (it's a small island but you know what I mean) and didn't engage with Dampé, do the colour dungeon or put out any of the models. I did all that stuff last year. This week I just tried to limit myself to two levels per evening or I'd likely have sprinted through it in two sittings. Not that the two levels thing worked out as I was left with only one to bring it to a close. The only FE pressure is from @Jonnas. No need to point the finger at anyone else. ... I stand corrected...
  3. That's the stuff. Tell us what you really think! Oh. Yep, good racing chaps.
  4. With a heavy heart, goosebumps and a lump in my throat (maybe it's time I saw someone about that?), it is done once again. I would that it could have been different but I'm an off-island outsider who happened to wash up on the shore. Everyone knew I'd be wanting to get back on my way. I'll be on my way then, Old Man Ulrira. Thanks for everything. You be sure to take care, too. Marin! How'd you get stuck up here? There, you're back on safe ground now. Right you big old Yoshi egg, the time has come for you to hear the Song of Awakening. And that's it done again. Overwritten into file one this time. The memory of it is already fading... Koholint echoes through future Zelda entries much more than Fi, that's for sure.
  5. Cannot take the Grand Inquisitor seriously. He's just Death from Bill & Ted.
  6. No way. That's only taken a matter of days. Making a beeline for this stuff coupled with the speed x4 toggle considerably reduced the game time. Top effort. Consider Zodiac Age bumped up my backlog a slot or two now I know it can be shortened.
  7. Why did the Yoshi yarn shorts? If only. I'm all ears if you've any Switch point-and-click recommendations. Just hearing from Dominik Diamond that this thread is... trousers.
  8. At first, I thought the toylike look was a bit at odds with the tone of the game but it wasn't long before I was a convert*. Definitely worth starting a new file if you've got the itch. I find a lot of the Zelda series is always feel ripe for a replay as I'm sure most of us do. Personally, I'm not a huge lover of the Oracle games though a remake in the vein of LA would be cool. (Especially if it's a double-pack!) * Would have been nice if they included d-pad movement. And animated the flowers. Yeah, it takes you right back and twists the knife even further. The music and what you've learned is in complete contrast with the graphical style. What a conflicting game LA is. About the soundtrack in general, it's well done however I think the Mysterious Forest is lacking. It felt like a more oppressive area on Gameboy and just isn't the same in the remake. Ooh, now that's a Fire Emblem I have. It's decent enough. Pretty much nailed it. Now play the game and come back and pepper in some thematic details and specifics. Incredible that the humble Gameboy game could evoke so much. Unforgettable. --------------- Any chance of SimCity coming to the SNES NSO!? Yes, @drahkon, I know...
  9. Yeah, I've little doubt it must be good when it works for people. It's popular for a reason. I've joined at least one when I wanted to contact support for some applications rather than send an email. I think that ranks among the best use I've had out of it. LOL. I motion that @Jonnas sets up a mafia game Discord. Delivered. Thanks again for the heads up.
  10. Aren't you running the N-E tiktok? I'm yet to come across that Goldilocks Discord chat that's just right. It always seems to be a spamfest or dead for large periods. As such, I can't remember the last time I had it open. I like hitting up the search bar here and skimming back through a discussion of a game I'm thinking of adding to my backlog.
  11. I'm just counting down to when that Man City lot start back peddling on him being world-class now he's been moved on.
  12. Is it possible to listen to this and not get constant chills? I'm just through the Face Shrine again and it was as cruel a mix of emotions as ever. Incredible. Then before you can gather yourself, you're off up and across Tal Tal Heights where the music is triumphant and you're fighting against knowing it isn't right, yet you're driven anyway to see it out. There's just level 8 to go now and then the time of Link's awakening will be upon him once again. Well, I say Link but this time it's actually... Top game.
  13. In my day when Wii waggled, Wii waggled.
  14. I wasn't sure if, reading between the lines, you were trying to inform us that the series hadn't been performing to the expected levels in Japan due to it being for hornballs and this mode is an attempt to capture that market is all. I'm sure little Johnny in the west will be coy and naive with his parents, but he'll be going full handheld mode with it as soon as he gets the chance.
  15. Not sure how to read this as I was under the impression Japan is as risque as it gets. Are you saying the inclusion of this mode is a way to make the game more appealing in the Switch's native market?
  16. Sooo... turn that mode on to avoid being turned on? Wonder if there's a pop-up like when games recommend assist/ casual mode. "Getting turned on? Consider Naive Angel Mode if you'd prefer to have less of a hard time." Please enjoy.
  17. Good to know. Just checked on nintendo.co.uk and there doesn't appear to be a demo for any of the three that I can send to my Switch. Perhaps one (or three) will be added in the coming months.
  18. Are there demos for any of these?
  19. Now we know.
  20. Glad to see the NI ladies haven't disgraced themselves. Would be nice if they can wrap things up without getting tonked by England.
  21. I've started into the Obi-Wan series and thought I was braced for all the mediocrity Star Wars could throw my way. I'm afraid I could have been mistaken and it matters not if you find my lack of faith disturbing.
  22. You could be thinking of the NES Mini with that one. Though according to Wikipedia Contra: Hard Corps is on the MD NSO service so you weren't far off.
  23. If the answer isn't OutRun then the question's wrong. I didn't get Link's Awakening in summer but I got into it in summer. I remember replaying it time and again with Wimbledon on the box. Great times. Bit of a weird one probably: I remember borrowing and getting into Street Fighter II at the start of the summer holidays one year. I'd played it in 2-player before that but it was the opportunity to borrow it that allowed me to get into it decently. I specifically remember going through the sound test. LOL. What was Guile's theme? 014 or 016? Something like that? Other than that, no strong summer gaming associations are leaping out. Wario Land 1 and 2 kind of. Splinter Cell and SSX 3 maybe? Or was it Splinter Cell and Viewtiful Joe? I took advantage of some summer 2 for £30 combination in Game on Gamecube third-party stuff one year anyway. Think I got Mario Kart 64 in July (stock kept getting snapped up) but I don't think of it as a summer game. Think the same goes for Smash Bros. Melee. Konami Krazy Racers was a June release as far as I mind and I don't strongly associate it with summer either. Wind Waker came out during exam season (oops) and Mario Sunshine after summer so I don't associate either specifically with the summer holidays. It's a season that gets short shrift for gaming memories to be sure. It was just the time for OutRun and the arcades. Nowadays the summer months are well covered for gaming releases but back in the day it was always the drought before the dark nights would return and the years' big releases would come.
