  1. * Treasure hunt. So true! Would have thought it wouldn't be too difficult to narrate the trailer in a way that would avoid this.
  2. Seems to dial it back on the real-world inspiration this time. Aldea is a small village so... P for Pokémon? Not planning to comb through it so I'll leave it to @Ashley to take us through the rest. I see this and I think... let's skin up, emote up and get ready to board the battle bus. Think it said three story options to pursue with one being the eight gyms and victory road. If it's that good I'll count it as a win!!
  3. Did you play the original on Wii? There's plenty more to slog through yet.
  4. Ring Fit does not skip legs day confirmed.
  5. Come on Ring Fit, that ninth spot's there for the taking!
  6. And all the fans ever wanted was a Pokémon quiz show. If only Game Freak would get the message.
  7. I listened to one and a bit yesterday and a bit and one today. Seemed all right without going overly in-depth. I quite like that they take time to touch on their own experience of discovering Nintendo rather than just regurgitating the news of the week. Makes it a bit more personable. Another voice in the mix might be nice, you're probably right about that.
  8. In the coming days--the 4th of August in particular--some games will no longer be on sale. This includes: SteamWorld Dig -- £1.39 SteamWorld Heist -- £2.19 SteamWorld Dig 2 -- £2.99 Virtue's Last Reward -- £3.99 (Demo available) And some Harvest Moons though I'm unsure if those are the good ones or not, so you'd be better doing your own research first.
  9. All signs seemed to be pointing to the fourth Pikmin colour being blue. Just got it and it's something different... a gamechanger!
  10. Ah, right. You were there day -1. I got XC:DE after XC3 was announced and I've been keeping an eye out for 2 in the meantime. The eShop card is all I ever see so I was wondering if you'd bought it recently. This one is news to me. Just checked it and it's a bit of a treasure trove for games I've been unable to get off Amazon or Game. Thought the ship had sailed on these. Thanks very much for bringing it to my attention!
  11. Shrines though, man. Shrines.
  12. https://nintendoeverything.com/tetris-99-30th-maximus-cup-announced-with-selection-of-returning-themes/ Catch-up event. Handy as I think I missed a few of those before. Hoping it's not US-only though I think these normally run in tandem across the regions?
  13. Poorly implemented. Clunky. Forgettable. Bring back underwater exploration with braille codes to crack and then we're talking. And yes, I'll be wanting an instruction manual to go with that.
  14. Sorry, I meant where did you get it from? Seems to not be in stock in the places I've checked.
  15. The quality doesn't seem to be there, imo. They've got their template and that's how it's going to be, it seems. Already can't remember the general consensus on Moon Knight but I thought it was decent enough. A bit different, anyway! I'm not dying to see X-Men, prefer them to hold off and bring them back when it's ready rather than rushing it. I'd like to see Rogue done well, a good Cyclops and get Gambit and Jubilee in there for crying out loud. Afaik, the films routinely do a billion at the box office? Reckon as long as people continue to lap it up, they'll keep on making them. They'd be idiotic not to. Just a pity there isn't more substance to em. They could easily scale back the one-liners and let the weight of some moments be felt more. What a botch job. Such a lack of patience. With their stable of characters they should have been able to build a decent DCEU by now. You're right in that they should just have committed to the shambles they had and set about getting their act together from there. Also enjoyed Shazam! though I'm not too excited about the follow-up after the trailer. Yes, I knowwww. Unpopular opinion. But as you note there, comic book films weren't exactly on a hot streak and for me, that trilogy sucked all the fun out it. Like I said, I'm open to an eventual rewatch as I might now view it as a nice contrast from the MCU stuff. Ey! I liked WandaVision well enough so I'd rather have had a proper Wanda film without Cumberbatch stinking the joint out. I liked what Raimi brought to that film visually + Wanda but the whole thing, in general, was just so superficial. Opted out of the new Thor off the back of it and as mentioned, I'll just pick and choose a few things from the next phase chart. Set yourself free too!
  16. When on the Gameinformer site last week to look at their Xenoblade Chronicles 3 review, I noticed a link to a Nintendo podcast. So of course I made a mental note. https://www.gameinformer.com/allthingsnintendo It's been going since October 2021 so there's plenty to get through. I put one on today and it seemed like easy enough background listening.
  17. I like the concept. It's akin to the way so many of Stephen King's works intersect and reference each other. That being said, I remember being kind of done with the MCU before it even got going. No, I'm not that big a curmudgeon. Hear me out a bit. Comic book films had kind of gone down the toilet at that point (imo, as far as I mind). After a couple of strong X-Men and Spider-man entries, I was worn out from the Batman trilogy--although I might not mind rewatching those again to see if my opinion has evolved. MCU, I watched Ironman on DVD (remember the hype!) and wasn't really fussed with the realism of it. It didn't exactly tally with my memories of the Marvel Action Hour plus I wanted (and still kind of want) these comic book films to be more like the Tim Burton Batman films--dark and fun--and what those early X-Men and Spider-Man films were going for. I watched Captain America in the cinema as I was curious how that'd be translated to live action. I expected it to be cheesy and overbearingly pro-USA, and got a film with some heart to it. I went on to catch the rest of the Cap films in the cinema (not caring for the whole Bucky obsession, chortled at the Pulp Fiction reference...) and I think that was it for me until the run-up to Infinity War when it seemed like every man and his dog was salivating. Prior to IW hitting the cinema, I marathoned my way through the Thors, Avengers 1+2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vols 1+2 , Ant-man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther. Gave Ironman 2+3 and the Hulks a miss. Perhaps some others too. At that point, I felt like I was "in" so I kept up with it all the way through Endgame and onto Wandavision. Caught up with Loki, Falcon and Winter Soldier and Hawkeye after the fact. Then recently saw Doctor Strange 2 (already wasn't a fan of Cumberbatch's depiction) and think I'm done now. Too much to keep track of--haven't seen Shang Chi or The Eternals and possibly more, and what's on the slate is relentless. They are all so samey. Critical mass has been reached. I liked that first Captain America film as it showed some heart, the rest is just quippy, empty viewing. From the upcoming list I'd lean towards watching more Loki and the Agatha thing, other than that, I'm probably going to decline unless I hear Julia Louis-Dreyfuss plays a big part in something or they knock it out of the park with something else. Right there with you. The rate they are cranking this stuff out at is brutal. Marvel have done a fine job executing its plan since Ironman. Fair play to those that are into it and are willing to keep up.
  18. Where did you get 2 or has it been in the backlog for a while?
  19. Yeah, maybe not for Stanway but it was coming for someone. The referee had been trying to let things go and they were pushing it too far, White being the main instigator.
  20. The referee found her yellow cards then. England could do with trying to play some football instead of these dark arts.
  21. Thanks for the offer of sending in a guest theme but I'm afraid it'd be the blind leading the blind with that one--all I remember is Digimon, digital monsters. Digimon are the champions! Yup, I only watched a handful of Digimon episodes before ditching it as a Pokémon knockoff. So by that logic, a Digimon theme would mirror a Pokémon theme night.
  22. I don't know what they were gurning about because I could see it was a handball from here without a replay. Thought next year was meant to be the Pools year yet here they are going for the quintuple...
  23. I'm not going to blog everything that happens, however... there was a code red situation. The goal for the day was to bring down the Vehement Phosbat. I'd softened it up the day before and hoping the damage might carry over, I did a bit of investigating (got a few pieces of fruit and discovered the spicy berries) before heading back around to the caves. I'd burned up most of the day getting sidetracked but was able to quickly finish the creature off thanks to it not having recovered its health from our initial encounter. All good, then. A productive day in the tundra. I sent some Pikmin off with the carcass and a piece of fruit then pulled up the map to auto-send one of the characters to the ship. As time was ticking, I wanted someone to be in position to ring the bell to call everyone in for the night. With two seconds left I got the notification that they'd arrived at their destination so I flicked control over... to discover I'd sent them not to the ship but a plantpot!! There was no time to rectify. About ~14 Pikmin made it safely into orbit.
  24. That's fair enough--I'm not certain what games Smash draws its items from. Maybe it says somewhere in-game? Can't believe you couldn't think up a Digimon theme. It could have done with a bit of the limelight what with Survive being kicked to the curb amidst the summer RPG releases.
