  1. Not that suprising, given they microwave pre-cooked meat... Mind you, I've had microwaved pre-cooked meat for lunch for the past 2 years, and I've been fine.
  2. Well... possibly, but the main reason was that it was worse for them than breast milk.
  3. What's that got to do with the sandwich?
  4. But does the same hold true for Germanic languages; English is supposedly one of these, but I've always been far better at French, Spanish and Japanese than German (mind you, I did have a crap teacher).
  5. Not if you don't have the ingredients; provided you know a sandwich you like they'll (probably) always have it at subway. God... you know that you're bored when you're getting into debates about sandwiches...
  6. Yeah I got one of them too... I think it was some kind of promotion, but I saw a sign saying that it was discontinued. Biggest, meatiest and tastiest is stupid... and yes, they should definitely have a nine inch. The reason they don't is so that they can force us hungry fools to pay for extra sandwich that we don't want. (but eat anyway... ) Having said that, the subway in st. albans is fairly good value, provided you have a six inch or a sub of the day (£2-£3). Do they charge extra for salad and sauces? I don't have them anyway; I like my sandwiches plain.
  7. I thought that ngamer was a different unofficial Nintendo magazine, but I might be wrong. I did hear that there was going to be a "sequel" to NGC though...
  8. I quite like it, but it's nothing brilliant. I go there about once a week. Usually I have roast chicken and cheese on Italian herb and cheese bread, although sometimes I have an Italian BMT in the same bread, which is basically salami, ham and cheese. (does anyone know what the "BMT" stand for?- I asked someone I know who's fluent in Italian and he disn't have a clue either) My one gripe with subway is the fact that the 6 inch subs are too small, and the 12 inch ones are too big.
  9. I've learnt Spanish to GCSE level, and can guess at what Portugese means, although according to my Spanish teacher, "Portugese looks like Spanish and sounds like drunken French"...
  10. I haven't read anything by him, but if you're a fan should read Ghostwritten by David Mitchell, for the Asimov parodies at the end. (I'm also pushing it because it's one of my favourite books) Okay, so it isn't all sci-fi, but some parts have that feel.
  11. God, you're lucky... where are you going? (in Japan) In fact, I might be able to go to Japan next Summer...
  12. Because this is a high tax society; we don't live in America. And yes, this is crap...
  13. 40 isn't old if you're a tree. But you're probably thinking of "life starts at [insert random age]".
  14. Right now its 28°C. It got up to 33.2°C, making today the hottest day this year (for where I am, anyway).
  15. They've got bits of nesquik in them, so the milk is supposedly converted to nesquik as it travels up the straw thus "magically changing the taste of milk". Apparently it doesn't dissolve properly, if I'm to believe the other comments here (I haven't tried them).
  16. Now that is a strange coincidence... I just made one today and was about to suggest it. Basically slice about 750g of potatoes (thin slices, or they won't get soft enough) and one onion, and fry them in a smallish frying pan in just under 150ml of olive oil for 15 minutes, while stirring constantly (if you think you have too many potatoes, you might want to remove some; it's what I did). Then beat five eggs and stir in the potato/onion mixture. Add plenty of salt and pepper, then leave for 15 minutes while you clean out the pan. Then add two tablespoons of olive oil to the pan, and pour in the tortilla mixture. Let this cook for 10 minutes on a low heat, then slide it off carefully onto a plate (If it sticks, try your best to loosen it: a non-stick pan might help) Put the frying pan upside down over the plate and turn everything upside down, so that the uncooked side of the tortilla is facing the pan. Cook this on the same heat for about 5 minutes. Your tortilla is now done! (took me about an hour) You can leave it to cool or eat it warm; personally I think it would be nicer warm. All the potato makes it very filling. Edit: The recipe looks far more complicated than it actually is; I was fine, and I have very little cooking experience.
  17. I don't hate America, I was merely implying that French people did... (And yes, I know many of them don't...)
  18. It was only a joke, hence the "or not..." in white underneath...
  19. You can have animated gifs as avatars, provided that they are within the size limit. I think that other forms of animation aren't allowed.
  20. Nihongo (日本語 / にほんご) means Japanese (literally "the language of the source of the sun" ie. rising sun) Nihon (日本 / にほん) means Japan (literally "source of the sun") Nippon is just another foreign approximation, albeit a slightly better one.
  21. That comes about from very mangled Dutch pronounciation of "nihon", which was then Englishified.
  22. I've just realised what that top-right panel says: "ahh!!!" "Mother!" "Father!" ...lol.
