  1. So despite all your criticisms you're still getting to vote "yes" with your wallet and buy this? Some things never change!
  2. For once, you might have a point. A £99 360 - feasible for next Xmas - could be an incredibly powerful force. I agree that it also has a better back catalogue but Microsoft are crap at getting this point across whereas Nintendo are mastering the art of selling games for the long term.
  3. True, though Ubisoft did have access to Wii tech in the same way that companies have advance access to motion plus tech now. The point is that perhaps the first motion plus games won't hit anywhere near the potential of the device in the same way that it took a year to get good Wii fps controls (Metroid, MOH:H2). If so we might be waiting longer than we'd like for a massive improvement.

If you think that there's any chance of an online mode then I think you must have a screw, or three, missing. Zero chance for this one.
  5. I agree that motion plus is promising. There's no way it was initially "obvious" that the Wii mote couldn't do 1:1. Even after the first initial plays of Wii Sports it wasn't altogether clear that 1:1 was impossible. Tennis is nowhere close but both baseball and golf are extremely close to 1:1 - probably still the closest attempts. We certainly weren't deceived by Nintendo. However, the limitations of the hardware were also unclear at launch.
  6. I'm playing on my Wii loads atm, probably the most since I owned it. I just keep going back to Mario Kart and Guitar Hero especially whilst throwing in a little Tiger Woods and some Bomberman Blast. There's loads of stuff I want to play still but haven't - Okami, Trauma Centre, Zack and Wiki and Super Mario RPG in particular. The only thing that bugs me atm is that I don't have a game that I'm playing properly competitively. I'm sort of heading that way with Mario Kart and looking at more "hardcore" tournaments and stuff. Smash could have been that game if it wasn't so bloody laggy half the time. Still, maybe CoD 5 will take off on Wii (hah, no chance of that really I know) or I could pursue GH4 or something.
  7. wow, very nice!

    Wii Music!

92k is not a bad first week at all for Wii Music. It's still something that is completely unappealing to me though tbh. I also think that the game will sell, relatively of course, less well in US and Europe. I'm not so sure Westerners will stomach the awful track list given the licensed world in which we live in.
  9. I think those impressions may have just tipped me in the direction of a day 1 purchase, just waiting on a few reviews to confirm now!
  10. On the vehicles front I really wouldn't worry. CoD's not battlefield and doesn't do vehicles well at all - they were fairly poor in Call of Duty: United Offensive on PC especially.
  11. I would be incredibly happy a new Zelda that plays pretty much like TP but with a new plot and stuff of course and possibly some new motion based controls. And with an orchestral soundtrack. And complete abuse of the classic Zelda theme that's so seldom used in modern Zelda.

    Wii Music!

I think everyone knew this would eventually win you over Dazzy, hell I'm even optimistic that Animal Crossing will too! I still thinks this looks pretty shit made even worse by an awful track list.
  13. Not on their they're not. But if you just can't play with "random" people as well, as a seperate option, then even for me this is perhaps a deal breaker.
  14. The point about arcade games being short is a relevant one here. I'd really like them to implement some replayability into the game - online high score leaderboards or something like that. I still replayed Lylat Wars again and again but added incentive always helps. On the topic of Lylat Wars I'm pretty worried that the announcement of this game, whilst welcome, might end hopes of a new Star Fox game anytime soon at least - which is a sad, sad thing indeed.
  15. I think next March/April is the best bet tbh. Can't see this coming out before then and I also doubt that it's complete, though this is of course possible. I just think if this was ready before Xmas then it would come out before Xmas given Nintendo's relatively weak lineup.
  16. Again, Pandemonium is another one I spent ages playing the demo of. If I remember correctly (and I think I do :p) it came on the same demo disc as GTA 1. Legendary times.
  17. I cannot actually believe Nintendo is waiting to see if this game sells in Europe/Japan before releasing it in the US. It seems so off to me. This isn't a minor title (especially in terms of dev time and probably budget). This is a fairly big release and it's exactly the sort of thing the Western audience is more likely to buy. With marketing this could easily sell more than say MP3 - especially if it's reviewed well too. Seems a bit like Reggie bs to me.
  18. Strategy for me!
  19. lol at the trailer and yes the music rocks!!! I can't see me paying £30 for this but I'm intriguied and I definitely want to try this out.
  20. I've been trying to find some coverage of the US conference - am I being completely dumb, can't find any on IGN?
  21. I think you misjudge the market Darkjak. The people you described there just aren't buying Wii's on mass. The casual market isn't just mum's and old ladies. It's a (very few) old people who already had a passing interst in games or mum's who have had games around them all their lives - i.e. the kid's or boyfriend playing them. I can almost guarantee that 90% of Wii's userbase had already experienced a video game to some extent. The key then is not in the timing of the release of "Wii2". It's in the marketing - to make current owners think that the new console is better and that everyone else is also switching over - and in the pricing. It has to represent good value, just as the Wii did when compared favourably to the competition. Nintendo now has the very clever advantage of being able to drastically improve, and cost effectively, probably the most obvious element of any game (especially in marketing terms) - the visuals. Even the most casual of gamers can appreciate when graphics simply look pretty.
  22. Simply: wow. Absolutely stunning. The graphics remind me of an enchanced TP actually - art style seems kinda similar.
  23. Hopefully it will be £20 rrp which means we should be able to pick them up for £15 online. Anymore then this is a wasted idea. Not much needs to be done anyway - map controls to wiimote and 'chuck, add 480p, add widescreen. I wouldn't expect full Wii controls in any of these games tbh. Possibly some waggle but even then I think it would only be to replace a button press. That said, I could be wrong. They've chosen some games where full wiimote controls would be a selling point - stuff like MP1+2 and Mario Tennis jump out especially.
  24. Bah, why a female?
