Trainspotting 'Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?' 10 / 10, One of the best films I've ever seen On a completely unrelated note, why is Se7en not available on DVD anywhere? They should really issue some more DVDs... I neeed to see it

The Truman Show For a fair while, back in the day, this used to be my favourite film. I can see why - the concept is still really interesting and perhaps even more relevant with half of TV these days being hidden camera shows. Carrey is overblown as usual but not as much as he often is, and it sort of fits in this. Only film I don't hate him in. The gloriously fake feel to the Island is brilliant and Truman's gradual realisations are nice to watch. 8.5 / 10

This thread reminded me that I had to watch Lost in Translation And it was fantastic. Subtle and somewhat minimalistic, with a tasty atmosphere throughout. The ambiguous relationship between the two leads was great. Oh and the music! Ahh good film 9 / 10 EDIT: Hang on wut?? Says IMDB trivia (Yep, I'm that bored)

The Last Nice Thing That Somebody Said About You
dan-likes-trees replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Chit Chat
I love it when that happens. One of the many reasons I loved Reading fest. So many free hugs / high fives!! Oh and this guy gave me a half price pizza and sprite 'cause he said I looked like a 'sexy beast'. I think that's the first time someone's called me sexy and not been joking. I mean, I know he was only trying to shift some pizza on the last night but I was well happy Oh, and then my friend said I was 'the legend of the festival' at the end. Aww I wanna go back... -
I seem to remember that I wanted to be a farmer back in the day *Played far too much Harvest Moon*

Tralala we got our Reading photo's developed today ^.^ Here are a couple... Spontaneous human pyramid on the campsite!! (Im top right) Our gang (minus one) After cleverly going to the swimming pool for showers This is me (Right) and my friend, who people always think is my sister <.< Similar? Demonstration of how dry our campsite was :/ And all of us near the end. I look abit bleagh but it's quite a nice photo

Woo! Yeah he / they were really great. Galaxy of the Lost is such a nice song, and I loled when they mixed in the starwars theme to midnight surprise near the end. I didn't see enough bands I hadn't heard before mind :/ Aside from flogging molly, who were great fun. Oh and did anyone see Yeasayer? Real good, though they came on late and only got to play like 4 songs...

Damnit!! We'd been saying we'd get ourselves some after we kept seeing people walking around with them. Only after reading that did I remember that we never got one. Tsk, next year perhaps. Were they as good as they looked?? Haha, what was everyone else's meeting points? We always met at 'Hamburger Heaven' cause we thought it had a cool name. I haven't eaten so many burgers in a weekend before... Then I was well chuffed cause on the sunday night I got a half price burger and a sprite for a quid cause the guy there said I was hot. I mean, I know he was only doing it to shift the last of their stock but I still felt pretty awesome :P Then I tried to barter for a tshirt and failed miserably. Oh and why the hell didn't they get more stock of Rage Tshirts!? Sold out by the saturday... Our Sunday night was cool, didn't say any mobs, just some cool people with a limbo thing made of gaffa tape, some light sabre duellists, and these random couple who thought we spoke to for about an hour then couldn't believe it when we said 'nothing' to 'so what are you on then?'. Ahh i loved that couple.

Eh, I probably should have read up on the rest of this thread before I wasted so much time doing that crap. Apparently I am PC World as well. Now despite being quite geeky in the amounts of time I spend on the internet, I do in fact value 'human interaction' and in fact haven't 'not left your room for a week or so'. Add to that I've never dated someone met online, very rarely buy things online, and only watch tv only cause our tv sucks and you're left with a big pile of fail. Oh and apparently I show signs of being a trendy. Eh.

Agreed. Rage were brilliant, as were Pendulum. Though jesus the front of the NME stage was heaving with people. Loads were swarming back over the barrier between the front and back of the tent, drenched with sweat, just to get the hell out of there. Still, immense. Biffy Clyro was probably my highlight for the festival, though Hadouken! Justice and Does it Offend You, Yeah? were also great. Campsite was the usual larks and bouts of randomness. Some sonofabitch nicked one of my wellies in the middle of the night, which annoyed me. Ended up nicking some random dudes. Vicious cycle. & God I hated the journey home...

Ahh, leaving tomorrow morning at 5. Which i think is ridiculously early, especially given that most nights we probably wont be getting to sleep till like 4... Have a good time, all those who are going

Great book. Finished reading it yesterday in fact, and yeah agreed, it's really sexual at times. I have Wind up bird up next but it seems pretty daunting at 600 odd pages. Myeah. In other news my reading tickets came today, which was a relief as my friends all got theirs last week. Went to town in the rain, bumped into people who I then had lunch with. And I checked my bank balance to find I have only £60 in there Serious budgeting at Reading will be needed...

Ha, thats AWESOME It's genocide of blue diamonds yeaahhh... And I think im done with this now. I'll probably come back to it in a month or so, then realise I'll never be able to match my fluke highscores. Except in sequence. I suck at that. And king. Bastard game.

Reckon I should read the book first or watch the film first? I have the book bought but need to finish up a couple others before I get started... And have you read his other stuff? I read Less Than Zero - which was great - and Rules of Attraction - Which was good. I was just wondering how American Psycho compares to them.

The Usual Suspects OH MY GOD THE ENDING WAS BRILLIANT!! As was the rest of the film in general. Brilliant story, soundtrack, editing... and Spacey's acting was absolutely first class. Ahh i need to watch this again... and again... and again... 10 / 10

Fuckin YES!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely shitting it the past day... had a dream where Id got poor results... woke up, walked in to see two clever kids crying on the wall and a guy who's good at english tell me he only got C. By this point I was fucking terrified. Form tutor handed me the envelope witha frown, which didn't help. Anyways took it outside with me mate... English - A Biology - A General Studies - A Art - B Chemistry - D (Knew Id cocked that up, did basically no revision) So pleased, considering I was predicted ACCC Time to change my perspective on uni's i coudl get into... EDIT: Them be AS results btw not A2

Myeah, can't see how he complain about lack of good games coming out when Geometry Wars and Braid just got released. Hope he reviews 'em one day...
-
Heh, i've had a similar sort of day. Last couple hours i've been trying to read to get my mind off the results but reading is surely the worst thing to try and do when you got things on your mind. Urgh, these are the exams i've tried the hardest for in my life which would make finding out that i've done badly all the more horrible... Well good luck all anyway
-
Haha touché. It's just that I can't really figure out what I thought of it, and in the space between starting that little review and finishing it id started to think that maybe it was quite good. So much was brilliant yet so much was poor that it averaged to about a six. I take back the 'really sucked' bit now And i suppose I didn't want to give it too lower a mark cause I know alot of people love it and i didn't wanna get a flaming :P EDIT: Today I bought a 3-in-1 set of Million Dollar Baby, Brokeback Mountain, & Hotel Rowanda for £7 from sainsburys. Bargin

Equilibrium Really sucked!! 1984-esque sci-fi but it was so clichéd and predictable... generally of the acting was poor (though arguably that was the point, given their injections, ect) but gah. Quite funs though, and i do like my dystopia, but only gets a 6 / 10
