  1. I really, really liked it. Didn't remember much of the trailer other than who was in it, so went in fairly fresh. Wonderfully directed, so interesting. Broke cinematic rules a few times, gorgeous visually etc. Loved the concept/themes - come on fairytales underpinning the story, but never being obtuse or in your face. Except for some visual metaphors, but they worked. The acting was great. I loved the pacey editing. So concise. The title card. The ending. Yes. A good film. Recommended.
  2. Artichoke changed/saved/is my life. YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND. *clings to ReZ's ankles, sobbing*

  6. I need to catch up on my comics. Everytime I go on that phoenix site I get so furstrated trying to find anything/where to even look I give up. And I can't remember how to get to a working version of the *site*. Argh. *dramatically swipes stuff off desk/howls*
  7. He gets amazing performances out of his actors, so I'm over it. And many actors actively come to him/find working with him enlightening. Charlotte Gainsbourg is about to star in her second film in a row with him at the helm, Willem Dafoe did two...Kirsten Dunst and Keifer Sutherland (not who you'd think of as "von trier"-ish) are in his new film Melancholia...I think his reputation means many actors who want a challenge seek him out. But yes. He's a depressive and openly talks about how it affects the filmmaking process.
  8. Watched the majority (not all so will of course hold off full judgement) of Predator for the first time today. Eh. Knew it wasn't anywhere near Alien/s (from what I'd heard), but other than the "lolz" factor at various elements, felt a bit *shrug*.
  9. She swore never to act again after this film and reportedly (as in, it's confirmed by other peole on set) she started eating a shoe.
  10. For anyone interested/who didn't already know: Kate Bush - Director's Cut Bush revisits songs from her albums The Sensual World and The Red Shoes on a new record. Out May 16th. First single (originally an album track from The Sensual World - SO foretelling at the time, considering the lyrics were written in 1988) Video starring Robbie Coltrane and Noel Fielding.
  11. I love! Could be a Milla Jovovich-esque vehicle, set in a dystopian future. In 3-D of course. --- I would never imagine ReZ ever taking the time to watch a film like this, but glad you did and realised it was amazing. One of my favourite films.

  14. I wish to have your children Quite seriously, as though ill in the head I wish to have your children As though sprouting from a flowerbed
  15. I was sat in the exact cinema in Edinburgh the main character walks into, watching The Illusionist. It was existential.
  16. Bad stuff. Won't elaborate. Just wish to note it. For no particular reason other than for others to acknowledge the fact the bad stuff exists.
  17. Can we see the video?
  18. The total eclipse of the heart one is best. I can't be arsed finding it though - I remember looking it up once and having trouble.
  19. I didn't find the Jesus one that funny since it was really uncalled for/felt like an attack. The others were more subtley cruel.
  20. Yawn. So bizarre how these films inspire people to rebuy them over and over. Remarkable. Good for George Lucas I guess.
  21. Yeah. I love the font. And how cramped it is.
