Sure, but that holds true for the past, present and the future. I think the reaction to Sony saying "Pre-order now" will always be "awesome!" (depending on the price, of course). I think it's pretty clear that it is. For Sony. The upcoming State of Play will surely be for third party games only, which I think is great for the devs. The PS4 player base is huge and giving devs a show to present their games is pretty nifty. There's no doubt there's still a substantial demand for PS4 games. Of course, I'd also love to hear more news on the PS5, but for now, I'll be happy to tune in on Thursday and see what's in store for the console that's still rocking the show

As with everything Sony has done so far regarding the PS5: They know what they're doing. Pretty much every little (and big) thing they announced (be it via a stream or just a photo on social media) was a huge hit. This State of Play won't affect the PS5 marketing negatively at all. I think the PS5 advertising during CL is a pretty big "pounce".

PlayStation State of Play (Thursday 6th August 2020 @ 21:00 BST)

CoD and Crash will make up the most of this. Other than that...we'll see. And I can't wait to read all the complaints about how there were no PS5 related news in the event -

Ah, The Messenger. One of the best game ever made. Here's what I've written about it in the Gaming Diary Thread. Also:
-
Really? I think it aged quite poorly. I appreciate what it did for 3D platforming, but it's clunky and doesn't play as well as people think, in my opinion.
-
Thanks for reminding me to buy this game on Switch, @Julius It's only about 6€ on the Russian eShop right now. A no-brainer.

2D Platformers: Retro choice: Super Mario World on SNES. A game I could play forever. Looks gorgeous, has some catchy tunes and plays perfectly. General choice: Rayman Legends. A masterpiece. It oozes charm that no other 2D platformer can match. Awesome music, beautiful to look at and it also plays perfectly. Couple that with insanely fun co-op (which usually turns into someone annoying the other players ) and you get the best 2D platformer ever made. Added bonus: Kung Foot (and some levels from Rayman Origins, but they're not as good as the sequel's levels). 3D Platformers: (Not so) Retro choice: Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy You could argue that this is 2.5D platforming, but I'll round the number up It's difficult, plays like the originals and it's Crash Bandicoot. What more could you want. General choice: Ratchet & Clank (PS4) No other 3D platformer comes close to the joy this game delivers.

Don't know how to stretch my little finger to the thickest string (doing that exercise I've mentioned before) without turning my hand/wrist so much that it starts to hurt. I simply can't "just stretch" only my little finger 'cause it's too short. Anybody got some advice? -
Day 30 - Personal Gaming Tradition Hm...I'm gonna break the rules again and just mention a few things: Firstly: Multiplayer games with friends. Either online with one group or offline with another. Right now my online gaming is made up of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. One of my best friends and some other people I know through him (never seen 'em in real life) regularly play this one and it's a blast. Offline multiplayer usually happens when I visit my mom and then see a few of my best mates. We meet up, eat fast food, get drunk and play. As for a "real" tradition: My yearly playthrough of Super Mario World around Christmas. Usually it's on the second or third day of Christmas after dinner. I retreat to my childhood bedroom, pour myself a glass of whiskey, get out a pack of Red Band wine gum (see picture below; wine gum + liquorice = me in heaven), plug in the SNES and just have a session of good old masterclass platforming

As expected.

Yup, this. No contest

Still having trouble with my knees after a run. Made an appointment with an orthopedist on Monday and get it checked. I am still going to go for a run later today -
Currently playing Final Fantasy VIII Remastered on Switch. I would assume that I finished Disc 1 last night, given how the plot developed. Speaking of the plot. It's a little...odd? There's the obvious bad guy who pretty much just shows up and declares "Lol, you're all going to die! I will unleash hell on you, NOOBS!" but gives no reason. And then there's the all time favourite "I'm that shady guy who's working for your side at first but then defects to the enemy". There are a few mysterious thingies going on, but to be honest...it's all a little boring and without rhyme or reason. Still enjoying it, as the junction mechanic is pretty cool. Haven't earned a single experience point but I still wreck everything Also started Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered (I will not type this out again). 4 missions in. Well...it's CoD. Shooty Mc Shootface in different scenarios. I enjoy it

Just found out it's Limit So it actually is just two games of pure luck

Day 28 - Favourite DLC/Expansion This is a tough one...gonna go with The Messenger - Picnic Panic ('cause I've already used Diablo II: Lord of Destruction). It's more of The Messenger, one of the best games ever, so you can't go wrong

I was sure I made a thread about Genshin Impact, but can't find it. Anyways, here's a new trailer: Still looks great. Love the combat. This is apparently a F2P game, though. A bit disappointed, 'cause there will obviously be a myriad of monetization. Will still give it a go, if it comes to the west.

Recently started to actually learn chords and comfortable technique again with my electric guitar. Using Justin Guitar's online/video lessons as I've done a few years ago but stopped quite early. I still know a few chords so the first lessons are a bit easy, but I'm trying to get rid of my old habits regarding wrist position, most importantly I'm trying not to touch the fret board with my palm. Man, breaking that habit is tough... Anyways, my daily training routine is quite simple: A and D one minute chord changes (managed to get 23 just now) and a 5 minute finger stretching exercise: Only stage 1 (up to 4:19). I cannot, for the life of me, get the fourth finger up there on the thickest string without touching the fret board with my palm. Guess I need a lot more practice To keep in line with the thread, though: My setup is rather modest and cheap (I bought it 10 years ago...haven't played it as much as I'd liked...I'm still a novice ): Sadly the whammy bar on my electric guitar is busted. It doesn't "stick in place" anymore, so it just wobbles around. It's quite difficult to use it in a song (well...the only song I can play that uses it is Knights of Cydonia). And that amp seems to be broken, too. The gain and volume knobs don't work properly. It's either too quiet or way too loud. And occasionally there's an extremely lout "crack" coming out of it while playing. I'd love to get a new one, but money is tight and I don't know whether I could get a reasonably good one for 30-50 bucks (maybe someone here could help with recommendations?). Need to get some new strings for my acoustic guitar, as well. But I'm too lazy to restring it anyways, so... -
CoD Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is available to download (at least on the German PSN store)
-
I just realized that the games will happen at 10pm here in Germany. I always forget the different time zones. Again: I will always prioritize socializing with friends IRL, so if there's anything coming up, I'll let you know. So far, it's all good for the first night, though
-
Well, that was disappointing. The menu lag is gone but towns still suffer from considerable frame drops. It's very distracting and annoying. Guess I'll put the game on hold again
-
Me too. Have only heard good things
