The Wii latched onto something that people found really cool at the time, which was partly through design and partly through luck. And it was affordable. They probably never knew they'd be so successful. In saying that though, while the Wii was commercially successful it was, in my opinion, the beginning of a considerable downward spiral in terms of quality and originality of Nintendo game design, as well as a significant reduction in quality / competitiveness of hardware. For me, it was one of the worst consoles Nintendo ever created, while also pretty cool in some respects. Now though the craze that brought the Wii commercial success is gone. People have done it; it's not something they particularly find novel enough to get truly excited over. Like all good crazes, they must come to an end.

I heartily recommend Patrick Rothfuss's Kingkiller Chronicle series. Only 2 of the 3 books have been released so far but they are amazingly good reads. They're fantasy type books but not swamped in heavy magic and wizard type tradition that generally turns me off. Second to that, the First Law trilogy (and standalone books) are awesome too. Another fantasy series that basically plays out in an unpredictable, dark and awesomely gripping way. Joe Abercrombie is champ.

I was thinking it could appear within a post to everyone who viewed it - perhaps as a text timer that counts down by itself to a specified date and time based on the viewer's system time. This is just plucked out of air if this is possible, but it could be set something like: [Timer=06.10.2013, 00:00]Mario 3D is out now![/Timer]. The first part being the date, the second part the time. And the text being what the timer is replaced with when the timer has elapsed. In fact, I found a BBCode guide from someone with the same idea: http://www.forummate.com/forums/index.php?topic=444411 That guide also accounts for timezone which is pretty cool I think if it's not too much difficulty, it could be nice to tell people from just a glance how soon their anticipated game is coming out, or how long they have left to submit a Mafia target, etc. Edit: With regards to that guide I can't make out if the seconds count down in real time or if the timer is static and updates when the page refreshes. A real time update timer would be cooler but not essential I guess.

Yep, was going to say this Hogge. All PS4 games are meant to have off screen play. It'll be a much cooler setup for off screen gaming than the Wii U. All games will have it, but you're not forced to get a Vita / buy one with the system. Plus the Vita has some pretty sweet games of its own. Is it /will it not also be the case that you can remote play over WiFi too?

That's launch though, you have no choice but to pay those prices in order to have a game to play on your console. Serebii is trying to make the statement that games are going to be seriously expensive and probably basing it off unrealistically priced launch titles.

I had an idea - is it possible to implement a text (or maybe image) based timer that the user can set to reach 0 at a specified date and time? It would then count down to that time based on the user's system clock. Some websites do this already and I was thinking it would be a nice idea for game countdown timers, with the possibility to set a message when it expires (e.g. game out now!). It'd also be useful for Mafia games if you wanted to set, say, a 1 day time limit until the next day phase started. Seeing a countdown clock so close to 0 could prompt people to act with more pace.

Oh come on. You know that the games for PS4/One are going to be £40 or less. Stop reporting sensationalist figures. We also both know that most of the PS4/One titles are going to reduce in price like games should. They're not going to hang around at £35 forever like most first party Nintendo titles.

Yup. The PS4 looks remarkably good value compared to the Wii U.

I can see what Cube is saying. Imagine if every application on your PC required full screen to run. It would be massively distracting and detracts from the feeling that your computer is really multi-tasking. It's less of an issue for a console (since on a PC there are more benefits to having multiple things on screen at once, like typing a word document while getting info from a web page) but it's still an issue. A small dialogue box means you can still see what is going on in your game, and like you haven't really gone away from the game. It may sound trivial but I would appreciate it.

While Blackpool is a bit of a dump, I always had great fun whenever I went there.

I quite liked that battle (the one against Evrae Atlana, right?) Same, I had a gameshark disc in the end that I tried to use. No idea how to beat say the Magus Sisters without Yojimbo.

Tidus looks weirdly pale but the rest are a massive improvement. Plus it's coming to Vita this year which is going to be supported for a long time. They stated this year as a release, which is going to be pretty soon regardless of when exactly in the year.

I wouldn't buy a PS3 controller from a third party seller as fakes are rife. They are pretty convincing, but overall the quality takes a hit.

Are you sure it's purely the retailers setting this price? I would have thought it must depend on how much they can buy it for from the supplier. Like every shop selling Rayman Legends for maybe £30 even though it just came out - that's not because they think people don't want it as much as a Nintendo game that has been out for 3 years. It must surely be because they get them cheaper?

Even if they charge £40 (I doubt) for the full pack, that's technically £20 per game. And the Vita will let us buy them separately. Just hope the Vita version is good. I hope because they're sort of remaking it that it's optimised for each machine (no porting issues).

They should put the coloured ones in the box.

I would do if. £159 is too good to pass up, and you won't be disappointed with it.

It's still not worth the cost of a new game. FFX and FFX-2 are receiving a graphical makeover and coming on the same disc. Even if that was £40, that'd be the same price but for 2 games.

Soon (this year) the HD remake will be here! FFX and FFX-2! Should be great, they've really done up the visuals and music.
