  1. I would say whether they do it 'overly so' would be defined not by the number of years between their releases but generally how much is conserved between each sequel, as well as whether there are a fair few games in the series that feel very samey 3D Mario isn't the worst offender, but there's no doubt they're guilty for quite a few of their series now. New Super Mario Bros would be the most guilty for me. Feels like pretty much the same game every time.
  2. No, he said it had to be different gameplay too if you look back at his post.
  3. By that logic then the Wii U has absolutely nothing over the competition, since off screen play is also done by the PS4/Vita (and most people don't care about it anyway, so I think it's right that it's optional in Sony's offering), and by your own confession the PS4 and X1 are graphically superior to the Wii U. And certainly the Wii U is far behind in terms of a good online infrastructure (I don't care if it's free, because it's garbage). The argument I think you might then try make is that Nintendo is unique in that its software is speshul, to which I will pre-emptivey counter with 'that doesn't need a new console' and, simply, 'Journey'.
  4. I agree with that, the gamecube controller is the most comfortable I've used even though the buttons were placed a bit oddly. Never tried the PS4 controller, the once or twice I've been in GAME in the past months there have always been greedy cunts hogging the demo just to play FIFA.
  5. Great to hear that the Vita version is coming out, even if one of the games is digital. I imagine it shouldn't take up too much space, but you never know. I'll definitely be getting the Vita version; the PS3 is a last generation console that I'll probably be retiring in the next couple of years (after P5) and who knows how long my still-running PS3 will last. The fan can also be pretty offputting. I really like the Vita though seeing as it offers portability and a really nice AMOLED screen. Just hope the Vita version runs well. I imagine it will.
  6. Anyone sitting on the fence about whether to get a Vita like @Jimbob, a really good deal just opened up: PlayStation Vita Wifi and 3G + 16GB Memory Card + 10 Games for £140 Games: LittleBigPlanet PS Vita WipeOut 2048 MotorStorm RC Little Deviants Frobisher Says! With Frobisher Says! Fun pack Ecolibrium with Ecolibrium Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum game packs Ratchet and Clank Size Matters (PSP game) Lemmings Hungry Giraffe Rotating Octopus Sold via ShopTo on Play.com. Don't forget Topcashback. Really good deal considering it's a 16GB card in the bundle.
  7. Man, the idea/what I've seen of playing VIII on tablet looks so dreadful. I wouldn't want to sully my memory of this game playing it in such a crappy way. :/
  8. Yeah, totally agree. People saying it's mostly an issue of marketing/price point are way off. The kinds of games that they made that were really popular just aren't liked as much anymore. I'd extend that to Wii Sports/Fit too.
  9. Cool idea, would be good if you could put when stuff is leaving Plus too.
  10. Not just having a good online system, but the number of cracking titles that the other 2 consoles can expect to receive due to their confirmed third party support.
  11. Haha, I know. Drop down generator box for their settings/stories. :p
  12. Yeah this is good stuff! Can't wait for the next Fallout. Here's hoping it's a PC/PS4/X1 release to give us a reason to generation jump.
  13. I agree with this, most boys these days over the age of about 11/12 care mostly about Minecraft, League of Legends, COD and GTA.
  14. I think I might wait it out to see this drop in price if/when it ever comes. Feeling a bit burned out on Tales series.
  15. Maybe they just have more sense not to drop money on standard launch software that costs full RRP. The question isn't 'Why aren't Germany buying Knack', it should be 'Why on Earth did anyone buy it on the first place'. People might have needed a new game for their console but it still seems to be crap.
  16. I know one or two people on here who have the PS4 and Vita have said it works really nicely - I guess some people are more perceptive to or irked by latency. It'll probably be one of those things where twitch gaming or FPS games won't fare as well, but personally I don't think those sorts of games lend well to off screen/remote play anyway. While I like the convenience of the gamepad, I deliberately tried to avoid using it as the main screen when playing Wind Waker as it didn't do the game justice. The colours on the display are so washed out and dull compared to when I looked at the TV, and I often noticed display quirks like incredibly rough/jagged looking text (particularly anything highlighted in red). The screen could really be a lot better.
  17. I got SM3DW on release for £34 from Wow HD (and Flubit were beating the Amazon price for about that too). Just gotta shop around.
  18. I think the biggest difference now is that all PS4 games can apparently support it, whereas it was very limited in the number or PS3 games that could be remote played on PSP. It also certainly helps that the Vita has a bigger and higher resolution screen.
  19. Wow great link!
  20. To make money, pretty much. Microsoft is their competition (not really PC, and definitely not Wii U), and the X1 is pretty much inferior in nearly every way, so they know they can level the playing field and charge for online too and still get away with it (which was the case, since the PS4 sold so well). I think it's a shame they're now forcing charges. But I know why they're doing it - when PSN was free on PS3 it started out not as good as XBL, so the tradeoff for it being free was a dip in quality. Now there is pretty much no difference (in fact, PSN is probably better now if only for the OS/party chat). They can make more money by charging everyone, since it's not like customers can go for a different console with free online and get a similar experience. Well, maybe PC, but a lot of casuals get lost with that.
  21. Would be tempting to buy and sell it for that price...
  22. For £15 off eBay.
  23. Have they though? How many of these people are actually turning down handheld consoles in favour of app gaming as opposed to just picking up app gaming as they already have a phone?
  24. You know when people say that tablets are dwarfing regular handhelds and are the way to go...I never quite get it. Just looking at something like DQVIII run on a phone is freaking tragic, and I'm sure a lot of gamers would agree. I'm not sure most non casual gamers want to play games on phones or tablets, at least not as their primary device. I know tablets and phones have a booming app market right now because everyone has a phone, but I'd be sad if quality gaming with buttons would be shunned in favour of that kind of shit.
  25. Interesting @liger05, you're so confident they won't do another handheld? I wouldn't be so sure about that. Do you also think Nintendo won't do another home console because of how the Wii U is doing?
