  1. Nintendo have literally thousands of games in their retro libraries. It'd be madness to not buy any titles at all separately in the hope it becomes free one day. Most casual gamers honestly have no strategy when it comes to this sort of thing anyway. They'd just pay the individual fee to download that old school Mario game that they really wanted. They could definitely do it. If you add up all the £30 subscriptions they could Mae, it becomes really lucrative. I sincerely doubt many of their retro titles make anywhere near the kind of money on a yearly basis as what they could make if packaged up.
  2. The Vita is actually getting some really awesome games (Persona 4 Golden and Tearaway being some of my favourite recent titles across all systems). It's also a cool accompaniment to the PS4 and as Plus subscribers accrue more free Vita content it makes buying it to play those games all the more tempting. Vita is kinda interesting - while it isn't doing great at the moment, it has many of the ingredients to at least become relatively successful/adopted. It isn't perceived as old tech, and is actually cheaper than the 3DS (excluding the cost of memory cards), and does seem to get some level of third party support. Time will tell I suppose, but I really am rooting for it. The system is just so much more technically impressive than the 3DS and I think it really deserves to do well.
  3. I don't mean they should have a pay for online version like with PS4, I meant having a PS Plus optional subscription like with PS3 (still with free online). I think Nintendo charging for online would be suicidal given how far behind it is compared to the other 2 consoles. A retro Plus service where you subscribe to get games each month would work really well though. They have so many games that there's no way they can be making as much money from them all compared to subscriptions.
  4. There's not much to say about this other than to remark that your outlook on the Plus concept is pretty negative. I very much doubt it just started out as a way to rope people in to a subscription that they would 4 years down the line enforce on everyone. And even if it did - then that's clearly the way to do it. Introduce something so brilliant that people willingly sign up for it in large numbers. Such that many won't even notice a difference should online ever be an element of Plus, since they're already subscribers. Obviously not everyone, but a lot of people are. And the people now having to pay at least get loads of games for 3 systems. Also I'm sure Nintendo would make a tidy sum putting out retro games on a subscription service a la Plus rather than making pittance as they do now (barely any of them chart in the top 40 on a week to week basis). I know a lot of people comment on how Nintendo software does well over time, but there must be fuck loads of retro titles at least that barely shift anything on a weekly basis. I mean, they just have so many. They could easily sell £20 yearly subscriptions and give some of these away and make more money than they would have otherwise. And since people need to be subscribed to continue to play them, people will often stay subscribed.
  5. Yeah with the last part, I think this scheme probably works better on PS3 just because there are more games/third party games, so more chance of a game you haven't played.
  6. I think it'd be a bit different for Nintendo to implement since they'd mostly be giving away their own games (with Sony, most games/good games on their system are third party titles). But still, past a certain time after release, I'd have thought there would be more money to be made from large numbers of subscriptions rather than the reduced number of sales games tend to have a while after release. Otherwise I don't think Plus would even be in place, if it didn't bring in more money than it cost.
  7. Well, it's on the Vita so it probably never was going to sell amazingly. It's just another notch on the 'reasons to buy a Vita' list, which keeps growing and growing.
  8. You forgot the part where you say you only noticed this flawed bit when you dropped the model on the floor accidentally and happened to notice it...
  9. True, Tearaway on Vita launched at £20 which made it really attractive.
  10. Remind me where the messaging feature on the 3DS is again?
  11. Oh, Nintendo has a far worse scheme already rolled out. Just don't give people the vital features at all.
  12. It's really quite something that the PS4 sold nearly 20% of the amount of software the Wii U sold in a year...before the PS4 itself even got released.
  13. So my game arrived yesterday but I didn't check the postbox. lol +1 for Grainger Games again. A day early and £30.
  14. Yeah it would be great if Nintendo adopted a similar scheme.
  15. So you can potentially get a Wii U Premium plus Nintendoland for £180 from Currys-PC World. Pretty gewd.
  16. Oh wait..Tomb Raider Underworld? There is too much Tomb Raider...
  17. Maybe that was Tomb Raider Legend?
  18. Maybe he tried the mushrooms and became a Stalfos and this game was just one mad trip.
  19. I remember Rinoa = Ultimecia theory gaining traction back in the day.
  20. It's possible Link became an old man, but died having never found his friend, thus enters a kind of purgatory where he appears as a child (since that represents the time when he was with Navi) and goes looking for him/her. Would explain why everyone is someone he has seen before.
  21. Maybe Feirce Deity was what he became by the end of his life!
  22. I've been wondering this too...is there a place that lists the exact dates the PS Plus content will be refreshed? Would be useful to know for the purpose of redeeming Plus 365 codes.
  23. Thanks, I haven't played Mario yet, but I would personally give it an 11/10.
  24. ....Santa?
  25. Cool, good to know.
