Cool! I'll play it tonight, want to play online together?

You guys, seriously. Changes to the movement input on the controller/console hardware improvements are not peripherals. If you look back to my post I clearly said 'peripherals like the gamepad'. Are you guys misinterpreting on purpose? The gamepad is an expensive peripheral that has not caught on. Nintendo most likely will not roll with it again. If it was bringing an awesome level of innovation to the scene that people really wanted then it would be copied. Much like the Wii Remote was, although the interest in that has pretty much died down (again, it doesn't last). As for innovation, I'll say it again, but I'd much rather have innovations in gameplay as a result of bright ideas. Like Journey or Dark Souls, which offer a different experience to what has gone before. For me, I much prefer to play new and fresh gameplay than similar gameplay with a new peripheral. Others may disagree on that, but that's my view.

I said peripherals like the gamepad. Nobody is going to adopt that, and I doubt Nintendo will ever make another console with the gamepad. So no, in terms of innovations the gamepad itself will bring, they will not be lasting. Those other things you listed are also not peripherals.
-
New forms of gameplay can still be developed on new consoles, it's just rare that anything with any lasting substance that's new comes about through peripherals like the gamepad. It's mostly innovation in software - gameplay elements not done before. It's not about having a second screen to play on, really.

Bill Nye / Ken Ham - Evolution / Creationist "Debate"

Ha - 'what if the world was created mature'. What if we're all brains in jars? And none of this is real? It's amusing when people argue the hypothetical so hard rather than accept the logical. -
I think from Galaxy onwards 3D Mario levels have become more 'bitesize'; almost Crash Bandicoot in nature. For most levels while you can still move in 3D, platforms are often polarised in one direction (ie. a section of ground that extends far further in length than it does in width). This makes the levels somewhat linear and less free roaming like with most levels in Super Mario 64.

I really recommend giving Terraria another go on Vita. I'm pretty new to it but it's really fun, and I think it controls really well on Vita (combination of touch screen to select tools/items with proper buttons for playing the game). I think the Vita and PS3 versions can cross play, so if you start playing online we could play together.

I also heard you need proof of a crime to get it back. Saying you lost it is very unlikely to work I think.

Terraria for Vita, £7.20 Hotline Miami, also Vita, £2.16

Savour the Wii U and Vita they are the new Dreamcasts?!
Sheikah replied to flameboy's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I appreciate it looks biased, but I don't know how else to explain that particular phenomenon. Nintendo just seems to be getting slated across gaming blogs/news sites (also a lot of articles like 'how to save the Wii U'), while Sony are often being praised. Even though both have a struggling piece of hardware. -
I'll be PS4 gaming next month. :p

dazzy, you really need to stop being so rude in your posts. Saying that what someone else thinks is 'utter bull' is just plain disrespectful. And to elaborate on my earlier post... yes Sony expected it to do much better than it did (as did we all), but since it was again following the 'home console portable' route that the PSP did then it's not such a shock that it isn't leading the handheld market (once again, Nintendo is). Worse, unlike when they launched the PSP they've now lost Monster Hunter while Nintendo gained Dragon Quest. Nintendo practically have assured Japan handheld domination as those two games print money. As for why it's doing so bad...the 3DS is also doing pretty badly relative to how well Nintendo handhelds normally do. It's partly down to mobile/tablet gaming, and also a lack of games. I doubt we'll see similar to PSP units shifted with the Vita mainly down to mobile competition. That's why it's hard to directly compare a handheld's (Vita) sales to a home console's (Wii U). Handhelds are suffering with mobile competition, whereas home consoles are still flourishing (see PS4 launch). -

I would also very much disagree with that. Vita isn't doing great but realistically there was not too high an expectation for it (even though Sony wanted it to do very well, it had many of the hallmarks of PSP but with fewer potential games like Monster Hunter). It's hard to compare Vita to Wii U since the former is a sequel to a console which never exactly led the handheld market while the latter was a sequel to a console that took the world by storm. When making comparisons, it's all relative. Put it this way - look at any gaming blog and you will see how much criticism there is for the Wii U and what Nintendo should do to make amends. Anything Sony related is usually about how great the PS4 is doing. When it comes down to it, I think a lot of people are actually happy with the Vita console itself (although want more games and better memory card prices). With the Wii U it's getting a lot of hate across the board. -
General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Sweet, they've done Disgaea 4 for Vita? Will so get that if they ever bother translating/releasing it elsewhere. Even USA would do. -
It does. Then you got 34.2% as there were more questions.

I'm aiming to switch over for Infamous. The way I see it, brand new games that release on both next/last gen will be similarly priced (seen quite a few places with game pre order prices under/around £40 for PS4 now). I'm going to get a PS4 anyway for the exclusives, makes sense to get it and also get next/last gen crossover multiformats on it, which will often still look better (1080p, 60 fps, etc) even if they aren't massively improved elsewhere. Amazon are taking preorders on the Infamous + PS4 bundle with £15 off, so you could say the PS4 is £15 cheaper. Can't see the PS4 getting much cheaper than £335 any time soon so it's not like there's much reason to wait right now.
-
If it's going to other consoles too then that's why it won't look so good. Got to wait for the next gen only releases to see the major differences.

Do Nintendo's Game Droughts Make You Game Elsewhere?
Sheikah replied to Goron_3's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Given most of the decent games were either available many months before on other systems or have been completed by me I very rarely play the Wii U. It's a ghost console. -
Oh my god I can't stop. Laughing.

I think there has been a bit of a nanny culture recently with regards to exploration. GPS style markers on maps seem to be pretty common in games these days. Take it away and it can be a bit ZOMG for some. No idea if this game has them or not when I say this though.
-
Too right. £330 for the console at GameSpot, the extra controller is unnecessary, DLC I almost always usually pass on, and Plus is usually 30 and I already had it since it's a brilliant service. I don't even know where to begin with his argument. Wii U launched at about the same cost and it's looking pretty doomed right now. PS4 has a really good lineup already for the year.
-
The Nintendo brand is pretty damaged right now if you look at the Wii U, so I'm not sure how having games to fill the gap that aren't full AA titles would damage their brand. I don't think that's true at all.

This post just highlights a remarkable level of ignorance, since I don't even have a next generation console yet. And when I do, it will be to play new and exclusive games. You may not be all that familiar with those.
